The huh? It's not ending at episode 17, it's shifting to a different network. It's just weird programming, I guess. Cowboy Bebop had some pretty weird things going on with its broadcasts, too. They missed how many episodes and then re-aired them and what not...

Best new of 2004 is Samurai Champloo. Other than that the one with the most potential(as in how much better it gets in the manga later on) is Yakitate and Bleach.

I can't really pick. GITS:SAC 2nd Gig, Genshiken and Fantastic Children--I can't seem to choose. Out of the choices above, I like these three the most, but I also like them for different reasons.

EDIT: Oh, I can vote multiple times. In that case....

GiTS: SAC 2nd GiG denitely. Overall, In terms of animation, story, and music, seems that this show is better as compared to the rest.

Man, I wonder when we'll see another Cowboy Bebop. I just started watching it for nostalgia purposes. I almost forgot how great it was. The music, the way the scenes were shot, the action, the story, atmosphere, the characters, etc. It was just so perfect.

Thanks for mentioning this. I am watching Monster now, thanks to your post, and it is just excellent. My favorite, however, is now (after the final episode) Uta-Kata: also complex and well written, but with a very different kind of atmosphere and psychological depth.

Voted for both Bleach and GITS-SAC 2nd GiG.

I ususally don't care too much for light-hearted series but somehow Bleach manage to get just the right mix of comedy, action and plot. It is usually difficult to
balance comedy with serious drama, but Bleach has managed to pull it off so far.
The chemistry between Ichigo and Rukia, even as a non-romantic couple (so far) is just great. This one also gets my nod of approval as the new series with the most potential.

Onto GITS-SAC 2nd GiG. Even though I think the 2nd season (seen up to 17 so far) is very good, IMO it isn't as great as the 1st second. This is not to say that the 2nd season isn't outstanding. It is just that with all the success of the 1st season and the fact that the Laughing Man case (with all the allusion to Catcher in the Rye) is such a great plot, it is difficult for the 2nd season to top.

Best TV series that started this year had to be Yugo for me. It's nice to see an action series where the main character rarely uses his fist and guns as his weapon of choice. Runner up that I voted for is school rumble and Otogizoushi.
