The episode itself played out pretty much as expected, but I didn't find it as exciting as the previous episode. Perhaps it was the animation (or lack thereof). It seemed like a lot of filler to me. On the other hand, I did get a big kick out of Shou's little bit of imagination gone wild. Pretty funny, that. |

Still waiting for Reika "magical" weight loss! But it could be a while, after all there no official ending for the series yet...
I could so tell Erika and Shou was made for each other... wish we get time skip to their adulthood.

I personally like ReikaXKou better, but hey, they're all pretty much childhood friends in the far future, so I'm not complaining either way. Just that ErikaXShou reminds me a lot of GoroXKaoru from Major, so I want something a wee bit different thus my preference on ReikaXKou.

Really? Gorou was a super-confident little baseball genius, and Kaoru was a complete baseball incompetent. I see Erika as a lot more confident than Kaoru, and Shou nowhere near as cocky as Gorou was.
Of course I love all four characters - I just don't see the dynamic as being that similar.

More like Erika = Goro and Shou = Kaoru, considering Erika seems to be on genius level almost on par with the triplets like Goro, while Shou at this point is merely so-so and was absolutely horrible before like Kaoru.

Just watched episode 9 again and, boy, that dog Zach is something else. This time around I noticed that he bowed in unison with Shou when thanking the other team's player.
Shou gets a yellow card in the next episode? How long do you get kicked out of the game for? I am guessing that, with a red card, you would get ejected from the rest of the game. |

It was a joke towards KC, if you didn't know. No need to explain your shipping preferences to me.
For the record, I'm actually pretty ambivalent with the romance in this series, in that it's just a minor 'yay' if they get together and merely a 'meh' if not. Just like Major S1, "toyshipping" when the parties in question just recently know each other just isn't quite the same, I feel. Now if Ginga gets a timeskip however (very VERY unlikely), that's a whole new ballgame...

Ahh, Shou. Typical rookie mistake of letting a bad play ruin the rest of the game for him. Always a good thing to delve on your mistakes AFTER the game is over, not during it. Nice to have friends though who not only snapped him out of his rut, but still have confidence in him despite it.

I think this anime has the best multi-character development, with Shou, Erika and Reika in skill and 'weight.' And less rudeness from the three meanies. I like the contrast between Shou and Reika and the triplets. I like how the team is mult-gendered and I like how before the op, they show the team fighting against adult pros. The animation for that scene was cool too.

episode 10
Excellent episode! The action was much better than last weeks. The rivalry between Shugaro and the triplets was well depicted on the field. Reika finally doing something to defend the goal was a big relief.
It was good to see that the triplets seemed to have learned the lesson of cooperation, and that they, alone, cannot win a soccer match. It was also good that they were a lot less hostile, if actually friendly, than previously. I did feel that Shou completely losing his gumption was played a bit over the top and, along with the encouragement scene, a bit over-dramatic. But it did serve to help show how the team has come together as a whole. But, it was Zach who stole the show. What a dog! |

Episode 11 was pretty good, though given this is on NHK I guess sportsmanship's kinda important but I don't feel the the two are in the wrong. Should be interesting to see where that leads though.
Meanwhile, Erika's face continue to be amazing (°3°) Spoiler for size/11:
These kids are so OP. Though I think the highlight of this episode has to be the preview, I lost it completely at the last couple of frames due to streaming commentaries ̄ー ̄). |
