Shounen/Seinen with good "battle system"
Got tired of school-life/romance/comedy stuff so i'm looking for a battle manga with good battle system and abilities concept.
Something like: Special power/Elements (Code:Breaker, Get Backers, Darker than Black, Medaka Box, Psyren, FMA...) Special weapon/Powerup item (Akame ga Kiru!, Reborn!, Flame of Recca, Magi, Shaman King v..v.v) Kinda like old shounen/seinen, which fights are explained in details and has adult/adolescent main characters (not some annoying mc, tsundere heroine, harem/ecchi), something has serious, long fights... Aside from mainstream stuff like OP, Bleach, Fairy Tail, can someone suggest me some?

I've read all of them (actually most of popular survival/deadgame manga). They're not really what i'm looking for, but thanks anyway.
DMW is not really that good imo... Yeah, i want some crazy fights with super powers involved...

Hoshi no Samidare (a.k.a. Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer) is an excellent battle manga.
The heroes are psychics with powers called "domain control" which allow them to do various things like fly, destroy things, and revert things to previous forms. Their leader is an energetic adolescent girl with superhuman strength. They fight a "magician" who seeks to destroy Earth with a gigantic hammer, along with his several golem minions. It's not a very serious manga, but it has awesome drama when it wants to. The characters have less plot armor than in the usual battle manga and can die from the most basic attacks, so there is a constant sense of danger during later battles. While the action is great, you mainly want to read this for the characters, because they are very lovable and interesting. |

You could try the webtoon The God of High School. Hasn't gotten to deep into the superpower stuff just yet for the main cast(and the main protagonist doesn't use anything as such...yet), but it's decently enjoyable. It might be too shounen for your tastes though.

Obelisk is right. Hiatus is main stream so...
But yeah, the concept Nen is cool, which is why old shou/seinen are amazing... Quote:
Ben-to would be really crazy if people with superpowers fight over some foods.

How about Mx0? It's a shame that it ran only for 2 years, but it's a good read.
Also, I suggest Liar Game. It's not really shounen, more to psychology, but each round in the tournament gets me hyped up.

I recommend Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The first two arcs are more martial arts based, but the third story arc introduces special powers/ spirits called Stands, which is what the series is most famous for and as the title of the series suggests, there are some really bizarre powers in the series like the power to summon fictional characters to wreak havoc or trap people's souls by beating them at bets, or summoning feet that run at almost 60 mph that will suck out the energy of anyone it grabs ahold of, etc. Most of the fights involve characters trying to figure out how their opponent's Stand works and how to counter it or use their own Stands' abilities in unorthodox ways.
I recommend reading the manga since none of the adaptations to date have covered the series in its entirety. Though there will be a new anime adaptation later this year. |
