looks like aokiji really took a beating from akainu. he has burn marks on his right arm and shoulders and his left leg was completely burned off! that must have been one hell of a fight! wish we would be able to see even just a glimpse of it.

^ Holy Shit! Thanks for sharing that pic, ronin myael. Man, those are some severe burn wounds Aokiji got. And since only Akainu's silhouette is shown in this film, he too must have gotten quite the beating (probably not as bad as Aokiji's wounds, but still clearly evident nonetheless).

Yeah, those pictures really say a lot about how fierce a clash Aokiji had with Akainu. Though the prosthetic ice leg makes me wonder: Why didn't Crocodile ever do something similar with his missing hand? I mean, he could even harden his sand, so it shouldn't have been necessary to keep that big ol' hook....

maybe he thought that killing a fellow admiral was a bad advertisement for his appointment as a fleet admiral
politically speaking, he is going to need support from other marines to run the marines body and retain his position in the future...and killing Aokiji will just put him in a bad spotlight

Honestly, for me, Aokiji has always been something of a Pandora's box-type character. when he encounters the Straw hats, you never know what he's really going to do. It's like there's a 50-50 chance of him taking them in then and there, and you know he could, or letting them go because of some interesting reason. I can't wait to see more of him Post 2 year time skip. Same for the Aokiji- Akainu interactions.

^Which makes me wonder if the new FA will be capable of showing mercy to his old comrade if he finds out he's rebelling against his regime. Heck, even in this movie he actually orders his men to exterminate Z, showing he won't even be merciful to his own mentor.....

^Hell, forget the soldiers who tried to go AWOL on him during the war, he was even about to kill poor Coby just for merely questioning his brutality. Now that I think about it, I guess I pretty much answered my own question about his future treatment towards Aokiji now, didn't I?

More Film Z merch. But what's really interesting to point out is the bottom left-hand corner: It shows an Oda sketch from Volume Z depicting a younger admiral Z and his family (as well as Roger and Whitebeard, it seems). Very cool, indeed.
