Index Movie entering the 300 million range for this third week... What the hell? Is this like clockwork now ?!
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-15041.html EDIT: Google translate says that it exceeds 200 million after 9 days from opening day... 300 million yen after 16 days from release.

Like I've said, it's freaking clockwork
Need 100 million yen? Screen the Index Movie for one week! Though to be fair, it should be noted that another 7 more theaters started showing the movie last week, but still for them to offset the drop rate...

I seem to recall 100 million yen roughly equals to 1 million USD.

I failed at simple mathematics Nine days /= Two weeks So that 300 million is actually little over 2 weeks and not the third week numbers ? "This isn't even my final form!"

You mean a Japanese anime movie screening in theatres all around the world? Yes there are, but it's mostly for mainstream stuffs. (and a few exceptions with projects by Studios like Madhouse or IG, etc ...)

As much as I would love for that to happen, I wouldn't hold my breath. Raildex is still very much a niche franchise in the west. They would probably need to air all three seasons on something more mainstream like Adult Swim for anyone to start taking notice.

I'm not hoping for Index to be shown in theaters across the globe. I'm just asking if there are movies like that because I haven't watched one yet. Index as popular is it is in Japan or in some country its still not well known in western world where people like more oppai and shounen series. So I'm currently fine as the way Index currently stands.

I'll put it this way- Not even Evangelion was released internationally at the same time.

And it sure is on par with the Haruhi movie... Though I guess having 11 more theaters helps a ton to keep up.

Yup, apparently they're giving out some fan-appreciation cards as a thank you...
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-15064.html Makes me wonder if they were caught off-guard by it's success as well.
