I jokingly wrote months ago that Raishin will get "permission" from Edgar Below (Charlotte and Henriette's father)... and so he says at end of vol9...
"Raishin. You mentioned before you will lend me your strength?"
"uhuh"
"I will find a way to handle my wife (to save her). That's why, I will have to trouble you with my daughters. Don't worry, you wouldn't lose out no matter which one you pick. Both are daughters that I can be proud of."
"pick... pick what?"
Yaya's iris enlarges.
Some quick thoughts:
Charlotte made up with Lotte (her spirit friend) a lot quicker than I expected... I am disappointed. I guess the author wants to save us from boring conversations: although it does display yet another leap in Charlotte's growth.
The twins seem to be nearing their limits in terms of power output. As cruel as it may sound, having one of them die some time down the road would be a good push in the back for Raishin: having one of his friend exhaust their life energy to protect him is something he must overcome... but then.... I guess things don't stay "dead" in this novel.
The part about Sigmund at the end is somewhat ??
Spoiler:
I mean, its logical that the actual "bodies" are stored in another dimension within Valhalla. I did not expect Sigmund to "regain" part of his memory... so essentially both Charlotte and Sigmund got a significant upgrade and is even more overpowered than before.... sigh....
I guess its an happy end to his story arc.
Anyway, the prince finally kills his father. The new doll around him is like a very evil version of Yaya's character.... getting wet from killing the king... -_- Well... more shit is about to hit the fan.
Lastly... Yaya's bleeding at the end... I am curious what that is about. (also said to see no chat when Charlotte and Raishin shared the same room...)
I actually took some notes while reading the novel as a summery of each section. However due to the large number of names involved (never realize finding proper english names can be a pain), as well as not knowing what is important and what is not I gave up half way -_-. Might come back to this later.
I wiki'ed オルガ (the student rep) and seem like "Olga/Orga" is a match. Her doll is Thor, also a dragon similar to Sigmund, holding one of the "magic sword" circuits.
Charlotte's father I used the name Edgar.
Sigmund MKII I used the name Siegfried. There are a lot of names based on Norse mythology.
The "Dragon King", creator of the dragons I used the name Drake.
Wielun is the name I used for "The Last Place".
I used the name Lotte for Charlotte's mirror spirit. Charlotte is often called Char, and the two are "one and the same". Together they form Charlotte.
A good portion of this are from memory of each section esp on the later chapters, so it may or may not be wrong.
I also did not do spellcheck/grammar check.
Spoiler for Giant Wall of Text for Vol 9 notes:
Ch1
1.
Charlotte's fight against Olga begins.
Olga's control of light particle to form protective walls and armor negated Sigmund's cannon attacks quite easily.
To answer Raishin's question, Frey guessed that Olga is able to control the light particles through the use of spirit magic.
The control of light particles remind Sigmund of Irene.
2.
This section is about Irene and Sigmund's first encounter 120 years ago. Irene's fearless attitude towards a dragon, her ability to deduct Sigmund being a banned doll and only started to hunt farm animals due to eating up other wildlife in the forest surprised Sigmund.
3.
Sigmund mentioned Char's father didn't want his daughter on the battlefield thus did not tell her about spirit magic.
Charlotte channels her magic into Sigmund and he enlarges into a giant dragon and prepares a powerful cannon blast.
4.
The blast was fired right into the ground to avoid penetrating the walls of the tower (a rule of the duel). Raishin hugs Hinowa and Yaya to protect them from the blast. The blast is powerful enough to also burn a good part of Sigmund's body.
Olga was able to barely protect herself but Thor is missing. Apparently Thor hid himself on top of Charlotte's hat for protection.
Thor threatened to kill Charlotte, saying how Olga is a member of the "Society" and he cared not about the rules (killing masters are forbidden). He also tells Sigmund that "Brynhild's is not killed by the enemy, but was eaten by me. In my body are two "magic swords"".
Sigmund enraged and swallowed Thor, only to be blasted from within. His heart shattered and body parts fall off.
Charlotte was at a loss in what to do. Their battle is interrupted by Sonechika the "Empress", a night party participant dressed in medival clothing. The battle is to continue in a later date.
5.
Olga showed signs of regret, but Thor showed no mercy in his speech.
Olga meets "The Last Place". He carried a sense of familiarity but she cannot figure out who he is.
Olga mentioned something about being the Maou (victor) and obtaining freedom.
Ch2.
1.
More of Sigmund's memories of Drake, the "Dragon King": a half dragon half man being.
Drake orders Sigmund to go into hiding as he hear the news about Brynhild's defeat and Thor's capture. Sigmund follows reluctantly only after his master told him to meet up again when the situation dies down.
Sigmund returns that night only to find the place ruined. Drake never had the intention of leaving.
Irene helps Sigmund accept the death of his master and promised to lend him a hand in his revenge. From that day on Sigmund followed the Below family.
2.
Shouko gives up saving Sigmund after merely 10 minutes.
Sigmund had his last words with Charlotte, reminding her that she is no longer alone.
The core of the "magic sword" circuit only suffed minor damage. With an "Eve's heart" (the heart and circuit work together to form the basis of machine dolls) provided by Shouko, Sigmund creates an egg. Sigmund asked Raishin to hatch the egg due to the high sustained magic requirement.
Sigmund dies.
3.
Hatching the egg is draining a lot of Raishin's energy, but varous people come by to encourge him, including an offer from Yaya to a dose of breast milk...
Grisalda chats with Raishin for a bit about spirit magic, stating again how Charlotte's father never harmed a single doll or human, thus probably did not teach Charlotte about usage of spirit magic.
4.
Charlotte dreams about Sigmund teasing her about Raishin, and him saying how he will never leave the Below family.
5.
Charlotte wakes up but refuses to believe Sigmund has died.
Raishin is really tactless when talking to Charlotte: he just tells Charlotte Sigmund has died.
Charlotte runs away but Raishin is too weak to follow. Henriette goes after her sister.
The egg is about to hatch.
6.
Henriette is able to calm her sister down.
Raishin catches up to the sisters on the roof. Hands over the hatching egg so the dragon can properly imprint with Charlotte. Charlotte names the new dragon Siegfried (there are a lot of names based on Norse mythology - correct me if I am wrong).
Grisalda lands from the sky (reminds me of a certain scene in a game I recently played). She immediately takes Charlotte to the Willington Hills - home of the Below family, to learn about spirit magic.
(Oh, Gris also reminded Charlotte that she reserved a spot in her class - maybe we will see more Raishin+Charlotte time in the future)
Ch3.
1.
A pretty doll ("#7") reports to Edward (the prince) about Edgar Below's escape (Charlotte's father).
We get the full quote from the prophecy this time. I don't think I can translate it properly without it losing a lot of its potentially hidden meaning.
They chatted about the prophecy and about the powers that steeped into the night party. One thing of note is that the prophecy is foreshadowed by a meteor shower.
Edward does not care what happens to Edgar as it has no effects on his plans.
2.
Raishin and Hinowa bid farewell to Charlotte+Grisalda. Charlotte is happy that Raishin is worried about her.
Shouko meets Charlotte shortly after and had her test her new dragon. Sigfried, as a product of a special Eve's heart provided by Shouko, now contains even more organic material than before. The raw power of the new light cannon surprises Charlotte.
3.
Raishin will continue to attend the night party to maintain Charlotte's qualification, but reminds Yaya that the honor of defeating Olga belongs to Charlotte.
Raishin feints. Wakes up and see Hinowa and Yaya 3/4 naked wearing only panties. They are fighting who gets to take care of Raishin.
Raishin has a run in with Sonechika, a lady of Russian origins, on his way to the night party.
She seems only interest in defeating the high ranked females in the party, with Olga being the first, followed by Hinowa - to prove her worth as the holder of the title the "Empress".
She remains neutral.
4.
Small banters between participants but no fights that night.
Raishin finds someone in pain on his way home. The noble's magic wavelength is very familiar...
5.
Raishin bring Henriette into his room to do things that shouldn't be posted on a public forum. She recognizes the man as her father. Hinowa is there as well guarding the place with her summons.
Edgar Below knows about Raishin as he is a member of the "society" - the group that backs the prince.
The society - Rosa Army - is formed in the ancient times, rumored to be an underground society to shelter those who wish to hide from Nero Caesar. It is lead by people called the "Rosa" and act as a balancer of power.
The fall of the Below family is all the prince's plan to force Edgar to join the society.
Hinowa and Yaya started to argue over Raishin again (as Hinowa introducec herself as Raishin's wife). The wall of Raishin's room breaks.
Someone who wears a part of his doll as armor appears, annoyed at the noise. He directly attacks Edgar.
Hinowa's barrier failed because the attack originated from outside the barrier.
Ch4.
1.
Hotaru chats with Magnus. He states that his plan require Raishin's powers to mature. He also refues to tell his dolls about his plan when they asked about their purpose of existance.
Rutherford (headmaster) comes by and warn about the coming of a meteor shower.
2.
Wielun, "The last place", is the attacker. His assault is powerful enough to overcome Yaya's herculean strength.
Wielun wears his doll Sleipnir as armor.
He reminds Raishin of the fight against Shin, but unlike Shin, who has a hardened body, Wielun's body has no "feel" to it.
Kimberly appears and stops the fight.
3.
Grisalda defeated the guards of the Below mansion and sneaks in with Charlotte.
Charlotte meets the spirit "Lotte" - someone Charlotte has not met for a long time.
4.
Kimberly tells Raishin she is looking for a lost "noble cat called Earl". Raishin claims he does not know anything about it.
Hinowa offers her room for shelter, but Raishin says there is a room where he has been wanting to visit for a while...
5.
They went to Loki's room.
They chat about the situation, and how Charlotte went to the "garden of spirits".
Raishin recalls that at the Akabane house, he once found a hidden door and a pair of old people inside who offered him snacks. Such place is impossible to exist given the layout of the house. That is the "garden of spirit": a place where spiritual powers are strong and can be detected by even those who are not sensitive to their presence.
Charlotte's mission is to make up with her spirit, someone whom was once extremely close but the current relationship is full of hatred. This reminds Raishin of his brother.
6.
A member of the grey cross, the combat division of the magician associate meets up with Kimberly.
A circuit sacred to the society, panta rhei, was lost during Edgar's escape from them.
The order is to eliminate Edgar. If Raishin is the one foretold by the prophecy he would not die easily.
As Kimberley departs she found the doctor (Krul). He already overheard everything.
They talked about killing Edgar "for the greater good".
Edgar seem to have time manipulation magic. Such things may be possible as there are relics such as the headmaster's Key of Solomon which "belongs to the future world". Edgar may try to cause the prophecy to appear sooner than expected through his magic.
The meteor shower is supposed to cause great destruction to the city.
Ch 5.
1.
The young Charlotte has great relationships with spirits: being able to see a great deal of them.
She always carry a hand mirror with her.
2.
On the second evening, Raishin and co attended the night party again. If a new challenger appears then Charlotte will be required to fight.
The next participant belongs to Asura's faction.
Raishin and co cannot find him for the first 15 minutes. Rabi smells something and Hinowa revealed the participant who is hiding in stealth.
The original plan form Asura is to eliminate Charlotte without having to fight.
3.
Over time, Lotte's attitude worsened. She started to insult people around Charlotte, claiming they are Charlotte's inner feelings. Charlotte rejects them.
Lotte is a spirit of mirrors.
On the day Charlotte leaves for boarding school, she tells Lotte to disappear forever. From that point on Charlotte can no longer see spirits.
4.
Asura's doll, Indra, possesses great combat potential and can summon lightning strikes.
The lightning penetrated Hinowa's summon and hit Yaya. She was able to endure with Herculean strength and... slightly enjoyed it -_-;
Asura can also stop enemy movement by interfering with the electric signals our brain sends to the rest of the body.
Loki was able to eliminate the new challenger with usage of a trap. Securing Charlotte's spot.
Fray feints after the battle.
5.
Lotte bombards Charlotte with verbal abuses.
Charlotte is able to accept her flaws. She admits her naivety caused Sigmund's death.
Charlotte wishes not to defeat Olga, but to defeat her weak self.
Lotte and Charlotte merge together. Once again she can see all sorts of spirits around her.
ch6.
1.
Krul says Fray feinted due to anemia (remember how the twins have a mechanical heart that converts blood into magic powers). The loss of blood increases the chances in which blood clots are formed.
2.
Irori guards Loki's room while the crew participates in the night party.
Tonight's opponent is none other than Wielun. He is also a member of Asura's faction.
3.
Raishin and co once again can barely defend against the onslaught. One thing of note is that Loki has pulled some clutch moments in the group's attacks and defenses.
Hinowa notices Edgar's presence disappear within Loki's room.
Raishin goes find him after getting a charm from Hinowa, leaving his friends at the night party.
4.
"Irori! Are you here!?"
Raishin finds Irori lying against the wall like a broken doll.
"Irori! Wake up!"
Irori opens her eyes and answered in a soft but happy voice
"thank you very much... for someone who is merely a doll, Raishin-dono is treating me like a woman..."
"Onee-sama~~~ finally came to this point~~~"
There is no signs of struggles. Irori simply "stopped functioning".
Raishin goes find Edgar with Yaya.
Kimberly and the man from grey cross passes by.
Kimberly tells Raishin about the incoming meteor and how Edgar is going to launch an attack on the city using the panta rhei circuit.
Kimberly says Edgar need the association's "protection", but Raishin knows they just want to jail him. He refuses to cooperate.
Kimberly and Raishin fights but Raishin's attacks are ineffective. Just when Kimberly is about to shoot Raishin's head with a special anti-magic bullet (where have I heard this before hmmm...), a shockwave from above assaulted everyone. The meteor has arrived.
Kimberly and man from grey cross retreats. Raishin takes out Hinowa's charm and goes find Edgar.
5.
Just when Loki and Fray are about to be critically injured, an angelFreedom gundam Charlotte arrives and blocks the attacker with a beam of light. Btw, she can now fly with the helps of wind spirits..
She requests a duel againt Olga, everyone are retreated.
Ch7.
1.
A few minutes ago, Raishin meets Charlotte at the school gates. He senses an aura of maturity and gets captivated. Yaya points out she is still a DFC and Charlotte gets mad at Yaya.
Kimberly brings Grisalda to defend the school grounds from the meteor shower.
2.
The prince's plan is to use the meteor shower to destroy the Fool's Sanctuary beneath the school, and hindering the school's automaton research.
Raishin finds Edgar inside the clocktower in which Charlotte destroyed before.
The meteor shower is actually a "fake". It is not the meteor shower foretold by the prophecy (or at least not caused by time manipulation), but the shower itself was summoned using magic.
Raishin claims he will stop Edgar. He also knows Edgar is being threatened, in which Edgar admits the prince promised to save his wife if he is to follow the prince's orders.
Raishin's value of life and all that he has done for the Below sisters impressed Edgar, who feels he failed to do anything for his family.
To stall time, Edgar tells Raishin that within the society, there is a pair of lovers. The son of White rose and daughter of Gold rose. In order to maintain a balance of power the couple was separated and given a memory wipe of each other on a yearly basis. Once involved with the society, there is no escape. Edgar is afraid his daughters will end up in a similar fate.
When Raishin suggested seeking protection from the magician association, Edgar pointed out they have failed to protect his wife once already.
Raishin's word reminded Edgar of Irene Below.
Their chat is interrupted by Wielun, their fight begins.
3.
The academy is busy dealing with the meteor shower.
Kimberly pointed out that strangely, most of the meteor will miss the city.
4.
Raishin figures out Wielun's secret: he control not reinforcement magic but a magic which controls distance. Enemy attacks are softened significantly by increasing the distance (thus Raishin's punches have no 'feel'), while attacks that Wielun deal had their distance shorted to amplify the power. The fists are protected by a magic which negates the normal force.
Raishin's weakness has also been figured: he cannot activate herculean strength on both Yaya and himself at the same time.
Wielun attacks both Raishin and Yaya at the same time. Raishin chooses to reinforce Yaya with Herculean strength while using his own magic to strength his fist to punch Wielun's fist. Wielun's fist is shatter since Raishin's punch is amplified as well, although Raishin is also critically injured in that suicidal attack.
Their fight is interrupted by a meteor which destroys the clocktower... again.
5.
Charlotte faces off against Olga. Her light cannon is able to overpower Thor's.
Olga traps Charlotte in a light cage, but a large hole is created from conflicting orders given to light spirits from both Olga and Charlotte. Olga causes an earthquake and creates a wall around Charlotte using earth spirits.
Charlotte is able to reflect the anti-matter particles of light cannon using Lotte (a mirror spirit: cannot be done by normal mirrors and other spirits only cause the cannon to bend), this surprised Olga and Thor takes a hit.
Charlotte finishes Thor off with a new attack which uses a magic circle to amplify the cannon's power midair, creating an aurora in a laser light show.
Charlotte refuses to kill off Thor as dolls are "friends and family of the Below house".
Thor gives Siegfried a piece of meat from within him. After consumption Siegfried regain part of Sigmund's memory.
Thor dies afterwards.
The antimatter properties of the "magic sword" circuit cannot exist in the world, so Drake created them in Valhalla, another dimension. The dragons in the current world is a reflection of their true bodies in Valhalla. Thor gave Sig____ his own rights to exist in this world.
Epilogue
Edgar is arrested by Kimberly, but not before entrusting Raishin with his daughters and permission to "choose one" (yay!). He refers Raishin as a meteor on the ground: one that grants wishes (not sure if this will be symbolic some time in the future).
Olga steps down from the stage after admitting defeat. Alice and Shin meets her.
Alice brings Wielun to Olga: they are the couple which Edgar talked about earlier. The two unite and Alice explains the whole memory modifying thing as well as tell them to leave the society.
Apparently Alice interfered with Wielun's memory modification.
Alice sees Hinowa on stage, realizes Raishin added another member to his harem... (as I said in an earlier post: Alice is someone who can really help Raishin out in the grand scheme of things: wish we can see more of her! She really spice things up for Raishin's harem too!)
The prince finally kills his father and takes his father's image as a disguise. #7 gets wet killing the king... D:
That night Raishin and Charlotte stayed at the same room at the recovery ward. We get an h scene Charlotte cannot stop hugging Siegfried, and tells him she has given up winning the tournament: because her wish to revive the Below family can be achieved without being the victor. She also acknowledge she has finally found friends.
Yaya's finger started bleeding on its own for no reason. She heals it with her own magic. (This may be foreshadowing to something bigger).
About the doll that resemble Akabane Nadeshiko, Is it made with her corpse?
I read somewhere that Raishin already bury her corpse.
And is magus also promised child like Raishin? (I already confirm that Raishin is real promised child not fake like Loki and Fay).
So, the name of student in the last place is wielus. what kind of person is he?
The bottom place but badass just like dragon rioting.
Say, the doll that simply stop functioning, is she permanently broken?
No. Its more like, she has no clue what happened. Everything is fine then the next moment you are awaken. IIRC Edgar did not mention what he did, but he does possess very powerful time and dimension magic. This may explain how he is able to disable Irori without Hinowa detecting usage of magic.

haven't finish reading v10 yet to ans the 1st part, someone else might be able to fill you in.
As of end of vol9 the one foretold by the prophecy is still undecisive. Both brothers (and might be other participants) satisfy the conditions.
Raishin describes that Wielun is similar to himself in such a way that he will fight to the death. Other than that, I don't think he is particularly a bad guy: just following his father's orders and maybe trying to find ways to save his girlfriend.
He is annoyed by the noises that Raishin's harem makes: in previous volumes he always bang on the wall whenever it gets too noisy.
Spoiler for started reading v10:
started vol10... things are pretty crazy. Cute Irori, all out conflict break out in the academy, even a nuke is involved...
All my favorite characters has a piece of action.
So the three sister can indeed grow over time
Also the heart which Shouko uses has a life span, going over power limits will shorten its life expectancy
Yaya has been draining Raishin's life force, but often in battles Raishin is in terrible conditions so Yaya had to use her own... Siegfried believes there isn't much time left in her...
Lots of girl on girl actions.

@Flying Dagger and every other knowledgeable fan: Who is the main heroine that our MC will ultimately end up with? Working under the "first come, first served rule," I had always assumed that he would end up with Yaya, difference in biology and autonomy or not, but with all the Char development, I'm starting to think that's no longer the case. Who did the author intend to be the main heroine and who's in the lead right now?
There is no main heroine imo. Harem is harem.
Raishin rejects all of Yaya's advances but still cares for her and there are occasional cute moments like how Raishin wraps his arms around Yaya's head to calm her down.
While the romcom side of the series provides almost all the comedy in the novel and are quite enjoyable to read, I don't think relationship development is a strength in this LN. Characters rarely get to enjoy time along with each other outside of fights/other serious moments. The author seem to want to fit a lot into a single novel thus the relationship development usually happens at the very start of a novel (where Yaya tries to seduce Raishin, and at the very end of the novel.
I feel the Raishin+Char route has been greatly toned down in the last few volumes, instead the volumes focus more on plot development and individual character growths.
Spoiler for end of vol10:
As someone else mentioned earlier Yaya "broke down" at the very end of vol10 due to over exhaustion to a point where her magic circuit shattered. Given the nature of the story I doubt Yaya will "die". If anything she is going to get some sort of a power up.
I expect to see the relationship aspect between Raishin and Yaya be further developed in vol11.
The prophecy describes the creation of human or something along those lines. It may be possible for Yaya to eventually become a real human some day.
Since the academy is almost completely destroyed and Yaya is out of action, maybe vol11 will give more character bonding.
In coolness and battle scars? Yes, in that whole school battle thing, if they keep shoving more side stories to gain more people for his harem, I doubt it.

She's in your internets, watching you masterdebate.
On the previous chapter, I've been thinking since "was that raelly Char that blew up that clock tower". Now that its been confirmed, when she flew away crying that she cannot back out now. I get the feeling shes beeing forced orders or chasing someone? It looked like she was trying to drive Raishin away. I got the feeling Raishinn picked up on it.
I guess by the last page when the guy said she has 40 hours, shes been threatened or something.
Looks like thanks to the anime coming out soon, Unbreakable Machine Doll got a spin-off in a Josei magazine. It's titled Gene Metallica -Unbreakable Machine Doll Re:Acta- (it's the bottom image). Not the shortest name ever. Seems to be about regimental soldiers/police in Japan.
I absolutely loathe that cover. It's driving me nuts. I need to muster all my willpower just to not splurge on it, because...it's Shoko. Dammit, Shoko.
seem like things get just going to get worse in v11. With shoko revealed as part of the society (last volume), injuries to all allies, and yaya seem to remain broken (but not dead I guess). why can't you just die off and not cockblock the other heroines....
speculation:
Shoko is not the only person who can save yaya or make mass repair to the various dolls. Remember Raishin still have the nuclear scientist prodigy girl in his harem who *may* be able to patch things up (forgot her name, Io I think?).
I am unsure how the dolls are bound to their owners (all I know is that masters can seem to take direct control). It is possible for dolls with enough free will to betray their masters?
what if yaya can be reborned similar to sigmund... except humans does not really come out of eggs: so a special... "ritual"... is required to allow a heroine to give birth to a baby yaya...
