So I had a great three games in arow..
1st game last lasted 3 hands ending with me getting ron for 13 orphans. 2nd game just got some good decent score hands. 3rd game 1st hand get an open baiman from east triplet (as dealer), dragon triplet, dora triplet, Toi-Toi, and Hon-Itsu. Then ended in the 3rd hand due to ron in 2nd hand putting one of them very low. And if you noticed I got 1st in all 3 of those games .

To all the nonames out there:
I hope you die of stds. Go choke on those ura doras you drop and shove those tsumo tiles up your ass. Oh, wait, that would be assuming you get laid. This 4/35 streak is pretty awful. I've won one hand in the last few sessions. Come on now, even if I were really that bad, this doesn't explain how everyone is winning in 6 turns. I can't even reach tenpai since I'm always holding someone's tile, derp. Though I suppose it's variance. It doesn't stop me from wanting to punch people in the face when they show their 46% 1st place rates and take their variance for granted.

Anyways, I suffer a demotion from 2-dan to Shodan. However, given that I dropped as far as 10/800... I am actually now back to 215/400. So, this is actually a short cut to get back on course.
And tomorrow will be my 3rd live tile session since Wednesday. === EDIT: Also, enjoy some Mr Mahjong: Spoiler:

Within the first 4 seconds: 1. Mah-jongg And now to stomach the rest of it: 2. Pronunciation of Mahjong 3. Pencil and Paper for scoring (well, this could be OK) 4. Dots, Bams, Craks. 5. Using one Chinese person (dressed differently) as 4 players. 6. Poor tile shuffling technique. 7. No walls built. 8. 3 Melds plus a pair... with a 144 tile set. And maybe a few more things that I've missed. === EDIT: Anyways, as far as walkthrough videos -- I fully endorse this guy: For new people, the first video should be enough.

3 sets and a pair, man that was so dumb of them.
Time away from Tenhou: Mahjong time is less terribad than before, but it's very clunky and does not autopass on tiles you can't pon or chi. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Also, it seems to let you commit chombo (why?) What's even worse is that you need more play chips to play even an east round. Who the fuck plays one game of mahjong? I didn't play Riichi on it as it was too damned slow, and tried Chinese official (MCR), because I hate myself. Playing on a crappy site with what is the most silly variant of mahjong is probably to remind myself how good most of us have it because this is the mahjong equivalent of stabbing yourself in the eyes. Fools kept tsumoing so I finally win one hand of Honitsu, tile hog, west, a flower and single wait for 13 points. If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky. Which is ok, as the minimum is a massive 8 points, until you realize seven fucking pairs is 24 points, proving that communists ruin everything. Intrestingly, you have to press a stupid button before it even describes how it scores your hand. >.> Anyhow, I went around that site and emahjong.net for some classical mahjong but that didn't work so I ended up playing on Emahjong for the Japanese style-- it's a tiny site, but it works fine and even has labeled tiles for folks too lazy to read mahjong characters. It also lets you pick your avatar, thus letting you use the power of moe, and is reminiscent of those poker clients. And there's a freeroll for actual money too! The hand history sucks balls though: I won off a single wait of the 3 sou, but the HH makes you think there's 15 tiles. :S Also I'm quite sure I only had 2 actual dora in my hand, the other is thanks to all the kans people made, bringing a 11700 hand to a 24k one. Hint: Don't do it. Interesting, the site's documentation describes tanyao as concealed only, but I was positive people were winning with open tanyao everywhere, so they had the decency to separate the nashi into EMA mahjong. Which is fine, since nashi is also balls. Won 2 hanchans, which makes me much happier than that other site. Though I must admit the tile shuffler seems a bit off since there was a number of kan and then I was scoring a lot of tanki machi, but this is my new tactic here... Will have to journey back to Ten-Hoe eventually to find out.

If anyone has the material - tiles and a mat -- see if it is possible to get a group going.
EDIT: Oh, here's a relatively new interface: http://www.maru-jan.com/ Unfortunately, it's another pay-to-play site. But here it is in action:

Although, I do teach Zung Jung rules (with some modifications) instead of Riichi. I don't believe Riichi is suited for random beginners...it has too many superfluous rules that don't add to the game, and overly complicated scoring. |

Riichi mahjong is great if a computer handles it for you! Base points don't matter in 90% of cases though. The majority of hands are gonna be 30 fu for exposed and concealed self draw and 40 fu for concealed ron. Except for Pin Tsumo, which is how broken that particular yaku is.
But hey, at least it's not MCR where it can't even decide on its own whether things can stack or not. Also, some lulz about how bad Mahjongtime used to be: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec....k/wwnJwgPydxUJ Yes, even worse than it is now. Quote:
