Considering the fact that Mashima tweeted that we will be surprised in the next week ...
I'm pretty much expecting anything ... in other words ... a pretty big troll moment. Here's the evidence, if you want some proof: |

No way Gray will stay dead. The chapter built up all this Ultear is evil bull so she will probably sacrifice herself to heal gray to redeem herself. Next chapter is also called "Time of Life" which I feel is a dead giveaway. Also Grays death was pretty brutal. I thought it was going to be 1 beam through the heart, then he got mauled by like 5 and then he got shot through the head. Dragons don't mess around

Well, Ultear's dead. And if Mashima keeps her dead, unlike Lisanna, then props to him. Gray is certainly not dying - at least not right now, I hope. Then again, Mashima said surprise. Wouldn't mind if he did off him though. Might be reason enough to add more dimensions to Juvia's character.

Looks like I wasn't the only person thinking "She can turn into water. Guess Gray forgot about in the heat of the moment." I don't think this is gonna stick that long. Ultear is probably gonna sacrifice herself to save Gray, therefore redeeming herself for all the bad she's done in the past.
If this does stick I gotta give Mashima balls to kill of a main character like that without any build up.

Yeh right, like if Gray would die especially after all this Ultear build up.
If Mashiha has guts then Ultear will die while resurrecting Gray's life. If he doesn't then she will still resurrect Gray while remaining alive. No way will Gray die especially since whole arc is about time travelling.

Ultear's time magic has developed a ton since 7 years ago, it wouldn't surprise me if she could do something about Gray's current "situation."
I'd believe Hiro is quite capable of killing a character, but not someone as important as Gray by something as minor as a dragon spawn.

Wow, Juvia. Just wow. I've always liked Juvia but to be honest I've always had a feeling her obsession with Gray would eventually create a situation like this. There are times and places for being utterly obsessed with Gray but one of those times IS NOT in the middle of a dragon attack. So unless that was an ice clone or something, Gray's probably pretty dead.

EDIT: Despite saying what I did, I utterly refuse to believe he's dead unless we get confirmation. |

Well can't say I'd be happy seeing Ultear die, cause I do wish to see more of her and her interactions with Gray. Now with Gray, I know I've said before that if there was one character from this series that had to die and had some real impact to the story it was Gray. I just hope this isn't some trolling or a cop out at some point but I won't be holding my breath. Still a rather eventful chapter and am looking forward to next week!
