False 2. I have never downloaded anime using IRC. True 3. When a show is licensed right before it is finished, I do not download fansubs of it anymore. False 4. When a show is prelicensed, I do not download fansubs of it. False 5. I prefer to wait for the best quality fansub group to release than to just take the first available. True Though for series I'm avoiding spoilers of or series I'm fanatical over, I'll catch the first version I can get. However, that's usually a raw. 6. I archive fansubs to CD/DVD, and keep them indefinitely. True 7. If a series is licensed, I'll delete/destroy any copies of fansubs I have of it. FalseI usually end up giving the discs to friends who I know have zero intention of buying the anime. 8. I often download hollywood movie dvd rips. False 9. When media factory requested the removal of all its shows from animesuki, I was angry at the japanese company. True 10. I will download the first release of a show, no matter which group it is. False Some groups I avoid. 11. I will make sure that if more than one group completes a series, that I have all of a single groups' releases. True But sometimes this can't be helped and I get a few episodes by a different group. 12. Fansubbing licensed anime is wrong and should not happen, no matter what. True (see previous answers to related questions and be forever confused 13. DVD ripping is wrong and should not be done. False (I consider DVD ripping OK if it's for series that aren't availible in my country) 14. The most important part of anime fansubbing is the community of fans. True 15. The most important part of anime fansubbing is the anime itself. True (a tie 16. The explosion of popularity of anime in the past few years is bad for the community. False 17. Anime shows are not as good as they used to be. False 18. I would prefer a show be licensed by 4kids than remain unlicensed. That's a friggin tough question... I'll go with false. God knows what they'd do to Nanoha 19. Big fansub groups with lots and lots of projects are better than small, one show groups. False 20. Ungreatful leechers are not a big problem with fansubbing today. True. I don't think they're half as big as any other problems fansubbers face And they're very easily dealt with. 21. If Naruto had not been fansubbed, it would have done much more poorly on Cartoon Network. True 22. Anime licensing companies charge too much for DVDs. False. Though some are of course better deals than others, and some are outright bad deals. We still get it far easier than Japan does. I won't bother opening the spoiler tag and calculating where I stand but this was a pretty fun survey question. I'm actually suprised the famous "Do you watch raws" "do you understand raws" and "do you always buy R1 DVDs of anime you have seen" weren't on here. If anyone has any concerns or beefs with my answers, don't post them here. PM me. No reason to clog up the boards with garbage. |

1. I often download dvd-rips of R1 dvds.
A: Not often per say, but I still do. 2. I have never downloaded anime using IRC. A: Yes, I have never done so, mainly because I dont even go on IRC. 3. When a show is licensed right before it is finished, I do not download fansubs of it anymore. A: No, I still do. Unless its not available. 4. When a show is prelicensed, I do not download fansubs of it. A: No, I will still DL. 5. I prefer to wait for the best quality fansub group to release than to just take the first available. A: Unless the first group always does a bad job (which hasn't been the case for any fansubbed anime I've been following), I would usually go with the faster group. 6. I archive fansubs to CD/DVD, and keep them indefinitely. A: Yes, unless the series isn't what I consider worth the disc space. 7. If a series is licensed, I'll delete/destroy any copies of fansubs I have of it. A: No. I see no real reason unless Im some ethically/morally obsessive freak. 8. I often download hollywood movie dvd rips. A: No, I usually watch movies with my friends. And Im not a fan of old hollywood movies. 9. When media factory requested the removal of all its shows from animesuki, I was angry at the japanese company. A: No, it is quite understandable from a business point-of-view. It just slows down my access to the particular anime titles. 10. I will download the first release of a show, no matter which group it is. A: Yes, unless the sub is a parody. PS: isn't this the same as question 5? 11. I will make sure that if more than one group completes a series, that I have all of a single groups' releases. A: Unless the subs are horrible/bad (and I've yet to encounter anything of this nature), I wont bother DLing a complete fansub group's releases. 12. Fansubbing licensed anime is wrong and should not happen, no matter what. A: Ethically, yes it is wrong. Personally I dont mind. 13. DVD ripping is wrong and should not be done. A: Yes if I have easy access to DVD purchase in my country, no otherwise. 14. The most important part of anime fansubbing is the community of fans. A: Yes. 15. The most important part of anime fansubbing is the anime itself. A: Yes. 16. The explosion of popularity of anime in the past few years is bad for the community. A: No. I dont see how its bad. 17. Anime shows are not as good as they used to be. A: No idea, since I've only started watching anime 2/3 years ago. (oldest series being DB(without z), Gundam X, CCS). 18. I would prefer a show be licensed by 4kids than remain unlicensed. A: From what I've read about One Piece, No way. 19. Big fansub groups with lots and lots of projects are better than small, one show groups. A: No. Its very subjective. 20. Ungreatful leechers are not a big problem with fansubbing today. A: Yes. They help to seed the sub while they DL, so its a good thing. 21. If Naruto had not been fansubbed, it would have done much more poorly on Cartoon Network. A: Depends on which audience. If its the usual internet crowd, then yes. If its people who only watch dubbed anime, then no. 22. Anime licensing companies charge too much for DVDs. A: Yes and No. Yes, because it is expensive to the average joe on the streets. No becuase it is reasonable when you consider the costs for making an anime episode. I dont think I need to know about the points, since I cant comprehen them. Last edited by Eclipze; 2006-02-15 at 12:13. |

Someone want to attach a poll so people can select their L-R and P-C? Then we can plot this on a spreadsheet, print it out, and mail it in a sealed envelope decorated with a happy face to the following companies:
