For an opening episode, that was almost shockingly ugly. Raishin's and Yaya's 3D models are hilariously badly animated and all of the 2D action is poorly directed and lacks any sort of punch.
For an action-centered show this stumbled in just about every way possible.

It's better if this one was created with just a 2d one and if there's a 3d just for the special fx not for the characters itself *look at accel world and SAO wherein 3d is almost none at all* I'm no problem with how the characters were drawn, it's just that the 3d render is dissapointing The train scene with yaya is ugly, the char scene is ugly, but the opening of the anime is damn good. Utterly dissapointed but will still stick to it since I really loved this series... just.... it just kill what I expected from this adaptation (after being excited since it was announced) A huge sigh for me.

I'm confused. I don't see anything wrong with the artstyle.... I guess people really hate 3D graphics in anime. I hardly notice such things. Whenever people complain about bad animation I tend not to notice anything wrong. Maybe I'm just blind to such faults? Perhaps thats a blessing

I mean, it's clearly not on the level of KyoAni, or P.A. Works (for sheer prettiness), but then most anime shows aren't. On the whole, it looks fine to me. I'm definitely not fond of how 3D has so totally taken over the North American animation scene, but a little bit of 3D here and there (dragons, cars, etc...) doesn't bother me.

I agree with both of these points. It seemed to me that they were using 3DCG for even faces, especially in the train, but it didn't bother me. And I found myself basically seeing things from Yaya's point of view. She seems like a pure soul. Maybe a raunchy soul, but still a pure one. I'll give part of the credit to Harada Hitomi's voicing.

Very poor start. Horrible 3DCG was a given from the PVs but to think they even resorted to turning poor LLO's characters into hideous clunky CG models was a double whammy. The action was pretty badly handled too and this appears to be a show that's meant to have action as one of it's highlights. Triple whammy. =( Everything else besides that was average. So far it's not giving me any reason to like it beyond LLO's designs and the cast. I'll stick around to hear more of the cast and also because Hirotan not playing a total buttmonkey character is rare.
The real salt to the wound would be the fact Sigmund is voiced by Jouji Nakata. It makes me weep seeing that atrocious looking thing with his voice and remembering about how he was once a 2D dragon that shot freaking drills from it's mouth. |

At first I thought this could be good, but automatons are not my thing.
So far it basically a future harem with some battles. Just doesn't interest me which is weird since I like the unusual setting. This is not for me, skipping it.

This was horrid. The character designs are horrendous and the use of cgi here is hideous. Yaya is extremely annoying and miss tsundere is as generic as they come. Whatever possible merits the premiere had were drowned out by its horrible presentation. Lerche is quickly building a reputation as an adaption destroyer. Majikoi, danganronpa, and now this? Good grief I hope this studio doesn't touch any more adaptions.

...I'm sensing some polarization. I thought Yaya was adorable, and the CG hardly bothered me (I've seen far worse abuses of CG, believe me). Other folks hate all of the above, and seem to be placing this on a "worst show EVAR" pedestal. Remarkable dichotomy.

I remember I read a bit of the manga long ago, but probably only until 1 or 2 episodes worth to the future and even that is fuzzy. I didn't think it much then, but for such a public place, they can get away with killing people quite easily, can they? Actual wars aside, you can't just kill people in military academies. I'm wondering how's the legal situation in that world, or if the law even apply to them. Even if it's supposedly early 20th century, there's just too little authority.
Anyways, enough bitchin' about a most likely suspension of disbelief material and focus more on the action and Yaya! That said, nothing much to say about them in the first episode. Just that Yaya is cute, Yaya is attractive, Yaya is mai waifu...wait what am I saying?

yep.... manga's art is better than anime...
hahaha... I know that Kikou Shoujo supposed to be boring in the beginning... but I never think I'll be bored like hell watching this I'm expecting more fast action with some awesome CG when Raishin and Yaya fought.. but it's like they're just running round and round and punching people... that's lame Since I love Kikou Shoujo's story especially Yaya and "Tyrant Rex" (well, I don't think they mention her full name yet), I'll keep be patient... at least until this arc finished poor Yaya... just keep brushed off again and again |
