PV reminds me of Unbreakable Machine Doll with the action balancing some fanservice moments (although it seemed less tame here). Animation was okay but I need to see more to be exactly curious.

By original content, Seikoku no Ryuu Kishi is actually have heavier fanservice than Unbreakable Machine Doll. TV version of Unbreakable Machine Doll put in a lot of emphasis on fanservice that the novel version doesn't have.

However, don't turn this show off by this please, Seikoku no Ryuu Kishi has good and fun story along with it fanservice and harem element. (not as serious as Unbreakable Machine Doll, BTW) If it done right, it will be one of very enjoyable show.


And yes, a blonde hair girl in these two shows does looks similar.

I'll be straight up here, the best part of that was the fact that the studio was willing to show 10 year old Ash with his hand blown off. Gives me hope towards the faithfulness to the original material.

well from he PV it looks like they'll keep to the story well but dude I gotta admit im gonna hate eco for probably this first season cause I didn't like her till she became a dere dere in whatever volume

Yeah, Eco takes a while to get used to, but I would assume people would be so focused on Rebecca and Sylvie that they won't care. Except for the parts where she gets trolled by Navi or Rebecca, that is.

You know, my first reaction was that the dragon fighting in this series looked sort of alright. I mean it was hardly good but I think it managed "allright" just fine. The problem is that within moments the screen was bombarded with a shitty male lead, and FUCKING TENTACLE RAPE. Guys, tentacle rape outside of hentai is a joke. A complete and total joke. There is nothing else that it ever could be, because otherwise it's just completly dumb. There is no quicker way for your show to lose all respect or aspirations of serious drama then sending in mr. octopus to get his willie wet.

I was mildly interested in this until I saw the PV... It's giving be vibes reminiscent of too many other shows with slightly similar premises/character types that turned out (or just flat out looked) bad. Probably gonna skip this one.

That's a fair assessment, since this show is not particularly original, openly following both harem and high fantasy formulas. However, if the anime is in keeping with the manga/LN, then that isn't a bad thing. The reason formulas exist is because people like those shows, and this one does it right. The characters are interesting, the fights are epic (seriously, its hard to screw up a fight between and undead dragon and a literal knight in shining armor with a laser sword), and there is an actual honest to goodness plot driving the story.

Spoiler for long:

Cons:
There are a grand total of two truly bad things in this show. A Louise-esque female character (I hesitate to call her the lead since the LN/manga didn't play favorites) and the authors odd fixation on tentacles.

Iffy:
Well, it's a harem. Thankfully they keep it to teasing for the most part, and the fanservice is fairly subdued. Also, most of the characters take most of a volume or more to actually fall for the MC.

Also the MC acts annoyingly flustered when teased. However, it isn't blow out of proportion, and he is in fact capable of holding a normal conversation with a girl.

Pros:
A trollish Onee-san character who throws energy spears, a real tsundere princess who is the epitome of badass adorable, and a male lead who suffers neither from extreme density nor absurd perversion, and has access to a well defined and versatile power that doesn't make him completely invincible.

Also dragons. Lots and lots of dragons.

While I can't help thinking of the bad examples of dragon focused anime that I've seen in the past, I do think this is looking to be pretty solid. Maybe a bit overboard on the fanservice, but long as it's not a huge distraction it should be fine.

It is a nice sign to see these dragons looking like animated dragons. Not following the pattern of CG creatures that are popping up in too many series these days.

Will definitely give it a shot. Having familiar elements isn't a bad thing as long as you do it well.

If I hear an overabundance of good things about the story, I might peek at it for a second. Lately I've been trying to give more harem shows a chance. Depends on if I find Eco unbearably annoying or not. >,>
