There is an episode that is going to ship with the next tank volume. And then it will be included in the last volume of the BR/DVD release later in spring. I suspect that its the bathing episode that they keep showing in the episode closings, doing it this way allows them to avoid censoring so much. Right now no one can buy BD volume 1 in Japan. They underestemated the demand and only printed 7500 copies. With all the pre orders it essentially sold out on its first day of release. The "probelm" is unusually high demand from people who dont normally buy anime. Amazon.jp is reporting a unusual amount of sales and pre-orders from people who have not ordered any anime or manga in the past 12 months. Also popular amongst women, people over age 30, and people who purchased Miyazaki films. |

I recently marathoned this show given its popularity on 2ch/4chan. I thought it was cute, sometimes funny and sometimes heartwarming but show of the season? Not in the slightest.
A question for the fans: in your opinion, what separates NNB from the standard "cute-girls-doing-cute-things" shows like K-On, A-Channel, etc?

To me, NNB feels "more natural" than the other series. Past the design and Renge's cuteness overload, the mood of the series is much more on the laid back side, instead of shovering a "look, they do cute stuff!" element.
It doesn't feel like the "purpose of the series" is to be cute, but just make use of it for its presentation.

It _is_ "cute girls doing cute things" but it's more the budding sort of "moe" than the burning sort of "moe", or at least it's a contrast of the two. It's got scenery like Totoro, without an obvious supernatural component. I would think this appeals to city dwellers as some kind of nostalgia. It may be idealized and cartooned, but it's not that far from realism. ("Wolf Children" takes the same kind of setting and goes more supernatural.)
