It's because they are not making dishes that are based on the conventional way of preparing a curry meal. Instead they are expected to make something innovative with the use of curry.

^ Yeah, but what make a dish can be called curry? Before this, my definition of curry is the sauce mixed with some vegetable and meat, and it can be eaten with rice or bread. Very narrow definition. But after reading this tournament, I'm starting to wonder if spaghetti that I can order in every Italian restaurant can also be called curry.

There are many points to be considered before saying something you make to be called a "curry". Most curry have one definition and that is spices. If you want a battle with the conventional curry then this wouldn't be interesting at all. Cause most part they could just buy a curry spice and add it to the mixture of curry and it would be good but it has no impact.

Wouldn't it be funny if this happen, Souma making dish worth 100 point, but got disqualified because its not curry.

as in making a dish that tastes like curry but without curry? Cause if not it is highly unlikely for him to make that big of a mistake

How about this..

Souma got disqualified because the judges are too full to taste his curry, and suddenly...Erina's grandfather appeared from nowhere and ate his curry, and impressed with his curry and then gave him 100 points, and disappear with a last word " You're a cool guy, maybe you should hang out with my grand daughter a bit more, see ya, bye".

n0m@n C-Z Join Date: Jan 2011	So Hayama... Spoiler for 58: Scored 94 points. Two of the five judges gave him a full 20 points. Though Alice who is at the different block earned 95 points. So Alice scored higher than Hayama who happens to be a curry expert. I actually wanted him to score higher than Alice. Well, at least Hayama made two judges give him a full score where Alice wasnt able to make even a single judge give her a full score. __________________
