Anyway, predictable chapter (sans Dai) and apparently, the death gate vaporizes your own blood o_0 I wonder, to what effect...

And we have seen Sakura's mom in the flashbacks of Naruto's poor treatment, but only her legs due to the angle showing Sakura looking on in confusion. Or was that only in the anime?

Before death must come boring FLASHBACK! I wanted to find this all interesting, but it wasn't. It might be too late in the manga for exploratory background about third tier characters. We know Gai can't defeat Madara so we are just delaying until Naruto is healed.

Anyone remember the genjutsu flower, the Alliance, and that tree? 10 minutes has turned into 2 hours.

My god, an actual flashback that adds something to the chapter not to mention the story. I didn't know Kishimoto knew what a decent flashback looked like anymore let alone how to write/draw one...

Of course, Gai is going to die accomplishing very little, but the minute or so he has to fight will help Obito heal Naruto, and I guess that's something.

At the rate Kishimoto is going, i am guessing something along this line,

"Gai has finally surpassed his father and Thus was able to barely live after using the eighth gate".

Anyone else getting tired of this ARC? I understand that the war it's a big event and all, but seriously this is dragging for too long... guess I will take some break from Naruto.

Its nice to see that i'm not the only one who liked this chapter after all.

Even if i have a small complaint, i would have preferred to have Gai's father as a loser in life to the very end, but in the end he got a moment of greatness by being able to save his son from the 7 swordsmen all alone. But it seems he had to be used as a measuring stick of how awesome the 8-gates thing is: if a genin can face the 7 swordsmen then a special jounin can face the Sage-god.

Maybe all gates give a flat power. Ie even konohamaru at death gate would be equal power to gai and death gate. The only catch being you need to be very good to be able to open them in the first place.
