I think this picture is appropriate, despite portraying a different person at a different time.

China will sign. It is desperate for energy. Very, very desperate.

Well, some of our billionaires, like Usmanov already moving their money to China (Dark Knight style ). Usmanov sold his part in Apple and Facebook to put his money into some Chinese companies (Alibaba and some other)

Wikimart is working with eBay on Chinese goods delivery all over Russia too.

Japanese Marubeni Corporationis working with Chechnya in oil industry. (Not China, but hey!)

Everybody is. And extra early too thanks to this crisis (and Alibaba being listed on NYSE); I thought it will be mid-April before we see the flight and people start short-selling in May.

Is that the Russian Walmart.

Lots of insiders point to it being 893-run. They invest wherever is exploitable and nobody wants to go; it is late in Africa and there are plenty of rumours recently about them bribing government officials in SEA. Chechnya sounds like the place they would want to go to flip oil and natural gas.

Until Japan starts farming seabed methane there will be plenty of profiteering given the large disparity between the ruble and the yen.

And that doesn't change the fact that Putin is comparing Estonia and Ukraine together. That's a pretty blatant threat given that Russia might be fighting a shooting war with the Ukriane over this issue.

Seeing a lot of Reuters links here. CNN printed some great articles by Guardian editor Simon Tisdall, and Stephen Cohen's interview and Gregor Gysi's speech at the German parliament are worth watching, too. The propaganda war is thick on all sides in this conflict, unfortunately it's just as thick here in the West (where great pains are being taken to demonize Russia) as in Russia and Ukraine (in both countries, hysteria is being whipped up), so it's very important to get as many sources as possible and do as much cross-checking as possible if you really want to know what's going on.

I was hoping I'd be the first to post about this new sensation but no such luck. For those who can't read German and are challenged with Google Translate, the headline reads "New Crimea Prosecutor becomes Manga Sex Symbol". Some of the Japanese twitters are cited as "I dunno what the speech is about but I support her, she's beautiful" as well as "The Crimea crisis only happened so that the Internet could find HER".

It is EUROPE. For the past 2-3 millenia, it is always one bloody country that wanted to control the entire continent. We already have Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Julius Caesar, Frederick the Great and Ferdinand of Aragon, just to name a few.

Now it is no more steel and psyche, it is all media.

Russia Snatched Ukraine’s Rust-Bucket Submarine:

"Russian forces have bloodlessly captured the Ukrainian navy’s sole submarine
Zaporizhzhia at her home port in Sevastopol—the strategic peninsula the Moscow
has been steadily annexing since late February.

But for Moscow, capturing Zaporizhzhia is more a symbolic victory than a practical
military one. The 1970-vintage Foxtrot-class submarine is barely functional. It’s likely
the Russian navy will promptly decommission the prize vessel rather than try to
rehabilitate her."

Crimea's New Attorney General Reacts to Her Internet Fandom

Quote:
In a recent interview (via The Voice of Russia), Russian television channel NTV asked the prosecutor what she thought about her newfound fame online.

"This is the first I've heard of it," she replied. "Well, I want to be viewed as the Attorney General, and I want to be evaluated on the way in which I do my job. I'm putting tremendous effort into that."

In another interview, which was uploaded on March 23, Poklonskaya said the reaction online was a "great surprise" to her. Honestly, she didn't quite seem to know how to react.
I was kinda expecting a Tsundere reaction.
