Sega Hard Girls
Sega announced on Thursday that an anime adaptation of Sega Hard Girls, the project that anthropomorphizes Sega game hardware into 17 beautiful girls, has been green-lit.

Well, I just saw the first episode and that was weird. I mean, I could get used to the animation style but the Sega games really bought back this feeling of nostalgia. Not used to the CG transformation either but I think we're only getting to the meat of the show.
Oh and this seems to be one of those 11-12 minute series. I like the premise though at least so far.

It woul be nice if they gave Dreamcast-tan red and blue costume options, to represent the different DC models in other territories. (My Dreamcast back in Ireland has the blue swirl.)
Also, I wonder if there will be any Neptunia cameos or shout-outs in this series at some point...

I could easily see how this would appeal to game console or portable game players.
I have never been one, so a large number of the punchlines were lost on me. Ah well. Dropped for now.

Okay, so the first episode was mostly nostalgia feels, but this second episode was actually quite funny. I was thinking about dropping this, but the episode 2 convinced me to give it a few more episodes.
Anyone who is not a Sega fanboy probably won't get much out of this though. If you didn't know/play Virtua Fighter and all the other Sega games/characters that made appearances, the humor in ep. 2 probably falls pretty flat. I wonder if Saturn, Mega Drive, and Dreamcast are all we are going to see? I'd love to see characters based on the Master System, Game Gear, etc. Sega has a wealth of hardware to draw from. |

At least the 100th enemy should be known to some people who don't know that that franchise is owned by Sega as well. Or at least those that weren't born in the last decade. And those that didn't recognize her should be checking out that particular franchise now |
