I don't believe Starsky & Hutch are lovers. Or Tom & Jerry. Or Laurel & Hardy. Or Alice & Bob. Or Batman & Robin. Or Hansel & Gretel. Or Will & Grace. Do I need to continue?
But enough about that. I mean they're meant to be sort of kind of a couple but not "officially", but this episode is just PACKED with ship tease. I mean it's a noticeably high amount. |

My point is that when a show set up two main characters - male & female of different family - and two of them get to know each other and has to work (or doing something else) together. With the series name like Atelier Escha & Logy, It is clear that they will get into the relationship soon. BTW, all of your given examples are the same sex, natual enemy, partner, brother & sister. Of course they can't be a lover.

Atelier series DO like to tease. If you set your shipping google at maximum sensitivity. You probably can ship everyone with everyone. Same sex or not.
But yeah they rarely take romance serious. They did thought in ps2 era. But ps3 kinda tone it down

The talk above about romance just destroyed my illusions for this series >_> and here I was squealing like a fan girl with the romance tease of episode 1. I love the subtle romance tease and hope for a fruitition but from what I remember of my playtime in atelier games. I more focus on synthesizing items which is locating materials and finding recipe. Also doing quest. Episode 1 fulfill those things and gave a good hint of romance which I like.

I agree with Enzo that this was pretty bland. I've obviously heard a lot of high squeaky-voiced females from anime, but I quickly got tired of Rie's performance. And, of course, she had to bump into Logy's stuff in the usual clumsy way moe girls do. She is clearly more competent than that, but I guess the writers worried that the audience would be put off if she began as strong and competent.
I'll give this another episode, but it's not likely to hold my attention for long without some deeper plot.

Ep.2
Gochuumon, and this show make a perfect 'feel good' combo on Thursday. I like two new characters: Wilbell...something, A magician and her friend, Nio. Another basic class in RPG has appear!! Female characters in this show are all nice. BTW, I heard that people think Atelier Escha & Logy is the worst game in Atelier series becase there is the male character (Logy) in it.....Really?) So far, the feeling I get from this show is similar to Aria (Gondora one, not scarlet ammo) and Tamayura. It's kind of show that a person who like "healing" element or "feel-good" stuff can sit through it and enjoy its every momet even if there is almost nothing happen in one ep. but for person who doesn't like will find this kind of anime boring fo sure. Based on the preview, look like an action stuff will come in the next ep.

Wilbell and her antics are a whole lot of fun, and so is Seto Asami voicing her. Also worth noting that Nio is voiced by Ise Mariya. Too bad that in the previous game (Atelier Ayesha, where Wilbell was a primary character and Nio was crucial for the story) the western edition came only with the english dub, so their voices couldn't be heard.

Personally I always thought that if an Atelier game was worthy of an anime adaptation, it had to be Atelier Totori, my favourite. It also got a quite touching story.

I also agree that Totori would have made the best anime (I'd go for the normal rather than the "true" ending in an adaption). However, since they're currently promoting the Dusk series (with a new game coming up) Escha to Logy is the obvious choice. I hear people say they should start with the first game, Ayesha, but I actually think this one has more possibilities (including animating parts of the first game via the backstory of some recurring characters - story content is pretty slim, so there might be time for that). *** Aside: since I know the game, I decided to watch the raws weekly to see how much I understand. It's fun. (They actually say "Bitter Leaf". Heh.) *** Spoiler for episode 2:

I think this will make a good adaptation. They can always use:
Crafting montage Collection montage Battle montage as needed to fit the plot they want to fit in episodes. It would be best if they focus on what Escha & Logy can do for the town and what the town can do for them. |

She saved the village, I don't think you could do that in the game (unless I missed something). Pretty good episode even though most of this was anime original stuff.

As I Just finished the game today and I can say this is definitely my favourite out of all the PS3 Ateliers so I am really glad this got an anime. |
