Episode felt more like an OVA episode than a (End) episode.

So Ging is as bad a father as Goku

Abandons his son.
After becoming a hunter, becomes a NEET and probably didn't send any child support money at all.
Avoids him the first game (Greed Island)
Doesn't visit him in hospital
Gives him a half eaten apple

At least Gon remembers to send his mom a postcard.
Gon's mother is left alone rest of her life, and marries the mailman.

Series ends with everyone living happily with Apple products.
Ever since York arc, Kurapika has been sitting in the same room the whole time just staring at his people's eyeballs. lol.

What's with the money that Morel and Knov were given? Was it payment to the other hunters, and they took it all to get some alcohol for themselves?

Also, the bulter's headstone, and then that shapeshifting animal as him comes up. So did he really die, or is that animal just taking his place for some reason?

I was anti Togashi until 2011. Because of his corner-cutting drawing, mainly.
In 2011, I was watching Level-E. It was really good but I thought it's mere rip-off of MIB.
Well, in fact Level-E was earlier than MIB, after all.

And at last, I learnt Togashi is really awesome story writer by this HxH.
I had no info about HxH from Ant arc but literally, those every episodes were interesting. Of course including election arc.
Thx Togashi. Work hard at your own pace. I'm gonna rewatch Level-E.

The first half felt a bit fillerish but the second made up for it. It was a good final episode.

it was also interesting how Togashi took care of tying small loose ends lying around like this one. And the birds Gon was watching in the end was in Spinner Clow's (one of Kite's contract hunters) hometown and related to a comment she had made way back during the Chimera Ant ar about wanting to take everyone to see such a scenery.

This show has been consistently great the whole way through. Just been an amazing ride from start to finish. Gonna miss HxH.

As for the episode, loved the flashbacks while Gon was running, shows all the milestones he's achieved and all the bonds he's made. Gon's a kind kid helping out the guy who couldn't make it up the tree lol.

Then he finally gets to talk one-to-one with Ging (lol @Ging telling the chicks in the nest to shut up) and they got on rather well. We get a glimpse of a whole new world out there. And the ending was perfect.

It's difficult to put into words the feelings I have at the end of this series and I doubt we will see any anime for many years that can match the spectacularity of this Hunter x Hunter adaption.

It's about Gon's journey what matters the most was all his adventures, friends, etc not meeting Ging.

Togashi deserves all the praise he is getting for this story.

Very good Manga and story, IMHO Togashi should let someone else continue the drawing the Manga and he should just tell them how he imagines how new characters will look and so on.

He could do this by just talking or is he to sick to talk even?

To those that say he can do whatever he wants and he has no obligation to anyone, IMO you are wrong he has an obligation to the people who made him a millionaire, the fans that have been faithfully following the Manga for many years.

If he is lacking in imagination or whatever to finish the story maybe he should team up with someone talented that he trusts to help him finish it, maybe his wife.

And a fond farewell to HxH hope to see you again......

Well, that was a good cry.

What a magnificent achievement by Madhouse, to do justice to a masterpiece of a manga and then some. I have nothing but gratitude to everyone involved, because this was clearly a labor of love.

This was an appropriate finale. Even as manga fans we knew there was no better place to end it. And Madhouse kept its charm till the last second.

9/10

As always, let's look back at this arc and see what were the best and worst episodes. Though I don't like to use "worst", but let's say "least best" episodes:

147: 9
148: 9
138: 8.5
140: 8.5
143: 8.5
137: 8
139: 8
142: 8
145: 8
146: 8
141: 7.5
144: 7

So the finale episodes were the best of the whole arc. It was short, but it still had it's fun.

And so, we finally reached our end point. We all saw it coming, we knew it was inevitable, but the day has come to say good bye to one of the best shonen anime ever made.

For three years, we lived through a lot. A bumpy start, censorship, low expectations from the old anime fans, wars, timeslot changes, and all kind of speculations on how the next episode will turn out to be. And no matter what you say, we were all Hunter x Hunter fans and we all love the same thing.

SHINOBI-03 Senior Member Join Date: May 2012	-EPISODE 148 & FINAL- Spoiler for part 1: Manga: Second third of 338, 339 It's the final episode, guys and gals. Shall we end it? Episode does not start with Departure. It seems to be typical nowadays to not include the opening song in the final episode to have more time for its content. Spoiler for Whale Island: First sequence is a little trip to Whale Island looking back at some of the first locations we saw in the series along with some previous narrative from way back. And it all goes back to the night before the trio's trip to the World Tree. --- Spoiler for Climbing the World Tree: We see a glimpse on the tree climbing with Gon having some flashbacks Everything until now was filler Togashi dog is not in the manga, but nice to have him in the final episode. The emergency button is on Gon's wrist instead of his neck like in the manga Nice view Rescue operation --- Spoiler for At the top: Oh my God it's Elizabeth's family!! And Ging is here as well. Good thing he actually stayed there and not troll his son again. Gon doesn't know the concept of "indirect kiss"... does he...?! Top of the world ---- Spoiler for part 2: Spoiler for The next step: Damn! I wish my pet birds were this obedient! The real World Tree The world outside The records Elizabeth's mom --- Spoiler for The rest, is silence: Apart of the first two pages, chapter 339 was mostly a silent one. No dialogue was used and it was only visuals and nothing else. Too bad it wasn't completely silent otherwise it'd be perfect. The anime, didn't keep it that way... at first the dialogue was loud and clear, but slowly it got lower till you only hear the music. One peaceful family After the scene with the two, we see how's everyone else is doing, along with Departure as an insert song! First we have Mito getting her mail. The postman looks older and fatter than the one seen in the manga...! Then we have Knov and Morel settling their old bet from episode 88, and Morel buys an expensive bottle of champagne and drink in Netero's memory Reminder The invasion team Killua and Alluka Leorio Kurapika is still the same as he was in episode 140, although this time he got some eyes The Zoldyck mansion where we see the butlers mourn Gotoh. But wait, he's alive?! How's that?!! Oh, it's one of those shapeshifters we saw earlier in the series taking his place. Well at least with Killua away they have the time to teach him everything he needs to be exactly like Gotoh. Then we go to the palace, and we see Meruem and Komugi together, even after death. Now you've probably noticed everybody was staring at their computer and phones, right? So what were they watching? A live broadcast of migrating birds. And as you can see, Gon chose to go with Kite instead of his dad. Four hunters. Four sides. And we end it with this quote from Ging ---------------------------- This was an appropriate finale.
