The problem with Kashiwagi-san is not that it is slow (even though it is), the real serious issue that it has is that it gets sidetracked by other developments. It is really annoying to say the least, especially when you think it is finally going somewhere then it pulls a Nazo no Kanojo X and gets distracted by other less important characters.

Ah I see..., though I can't quite remember what happened in Nazo no Kanojo X other than saliva exchange. I've read it long ago before the anime ever announced, but gave up midway.

On a side note: Just learned the name Kazama Ayami. An author notorious for writing cute vanilla romance for shonen/seinen demographic (about 7 out of 9). The other 2 are Shoujo and Josei.

Now, that I think about it. Seems like there are a lot of female authors who write for male demographic and some of them even very well known (Kawashita Mizuki, Aki Eda, Arakawa Hiromu). But, I haven't heard any male mangaka who writes on any shoujo magazine (inb4 Osamu Tezuka and numerous old people).

Found another one: Ojojojo. This one is really quite something, definitely recommended.

Yes...I also enjoy that series. Very lovable characters.

Hopefully it would work for the OP.

Why so reserved? It didn't topple a single rule so far.

Okay, OP is here. With holiday is over and college works piling up.

Just reading and putting something on reading and plan-to-read list. And so far, only one down for sure. Regretfully, Magica no Kenshi should go down for good. The latest chapter development was just too much for me.

Adding Love Roma and Ohikkoshi on PTR. Aand, i know I've heard this guy's name somewhere. https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=742

So, I'm looking for romance manga with "Super Vanilla" grade, meaning?
  • obviously vanilla only (not harem, triangle, netorare, or anything else which is not vanilla)
  • Focus on the romance part not the drama (again: NOT THE FRIGGI'n DRAMA!!)
  • hetero only
  • IF there is a harem, its better at the level of Umi no Misaki or omnibus format (Amagami, KimiKiss, KamiNomi). Otherwise, just no
  • Seo Kouji is a NO!
  • Yuyuko or "Whoever wrote Toradora and Golden Time" is a no!
  • Oneshot/short/long series are fine
  • Anthology? As long as it didn't develop into a love polygon. (Meaning, Hatsukoi Gentei is a no)
  • Ecchi/Borderline H is fine, but of course blatant Hentai is a no
  • I can't stress it hard enough: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! NOT THE DRAMA!!!
  • It will be great if the MC is not someone who are obsessed with pure/virginity. But, whatever. There is no such thing anyway.
  • Not from shoujo demographic
  • But bishoujo is fine
  • And bishounen is a no.
  • Lastly with reasons (Again: moderator's rules)

Of course I understand there is no romance without a bit sense of drama. So, how much drama is acceptable?
  1. (heavy) Drama comes out, but quickly watered down by the amount of sweet moments afterwards (e.g. One Week Friends) (It doesn't dragged out for like 100 pages or so)
  2. Drama spikes up, but people involved choose to talk things over (i.e. Molester Man)
  3. little to no amount of drama (ex: KimiKiss, Amagami, Hadi Girl)
  4. Last minute drama. But not the last minute "Axed" drama. (Because there is some stories which have heavy drama built up in the last few chapters for the sake of glorious public proposal thing )

inb4 Horimiya, I have this ticklish sensation when reading Horimiya. Almost as it was came out from shoujo manga. Sorry, I am allergic towards shoujo demographic.
So pure love story?

Then maybe this

https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=30788

It's really touching

None of that MC obsessed with virginity thing too....

They are all in a far more serious situation for such trifles anyway....

Alright, so.... what is this? I've been frantically trying to find 'something' other than ch 1. But no results so far.

And yeah, the tread is still up

Romance...tragedy.

Should be pure enough romance for you I think. None of your typical shoujo tropes there.

You want a full description of the plot?

There's an anime for it too if you can't find the manga

I see...

Well, its (vanilla-tragedy) still better than polygon/harlem-tragedy. In particular, where the side love interest just die because she has no chance of winning (or to invoke MC's personal rage)? That kind of abomination always getting on my nerves (2011+3? Yes, I'm still mad!).

Anime? Nah..., maybe later. My PTW is still piling up, and my toaster is slowly dying.

It's more of a...how shall I say, introspective kind of story, not a non-stop in your face tear jerker. Strangely it ends on a rather fresh and new beginning kind of feel even if it is sad in a way.

Did you read the manga version, LN version, or Anime version?

Anyway on side notes: been reading most of the suggestion. Now, that I think about it. Is there any romance which feels pretty.... balanced/normal? Well, I can't really put my finger on it. Basically, both hero and heroine were being put in a very similarly normal situation (no alien, no ghost, no idol, no complex, personal/family issue or whatsoever). They're both fairly normal, stick in the mud of character whereas no one has any advantages over the other. And the story only focuses on their relationship without spilling into over-adornment (with tropes, trait, etc) on one character.

Basically, opposite of the usual "normal/lame MC x Idol/Super-famous hero/heroine" which flocking around shonen and shoujo demographic like cancer.

If you haven't yet, give Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki a try. Vanilla romance focusing on the relationship between a short boy and a tall girl. Very cute.

Okay, 17 chapters. And, yes its pretty refreshing and has its cute moments. But strangely, it feels... dry? It would be nicer if our two lead have more talk time together to explore more on their relationship.

On a side notes: Just got around Nagato Yuki-chan no Soushitsu. Mane, it really took a lot of time to get interesting, but it really worth the invested time. Looking forward to the upcoming anime.

All three. Anime is the most concise but it conveys it quite nicely

For normal everyday life kind....Try Romantica Clock. Pretty well written. But it's middle school setting, so it won't be the mature kind

What about Seifuku Aventure - Chemical Reaction Of High School Students or Wakabayashi Toshiya s 4 koma Collection? They are seriously so lovely.

hajioutsu
definitely high grade vanilla

Ore Monogatari!
the MC may ugly, but he is man among man.
