Best 1-5 fleet arrangement would be.
CVL (flag) BBV DD/CL DD/CL I noticed (in my case) that the silly troll sub at 1st node tends to target #2 and #3 often. You'd really want your CVL and BBV to fire first so they'll get to sink the trash subs before your DD/CL's can target the big ones. Less targets, better chances. And for every 20 runs, I only waste around 4-5 buckets

Kind of wondering about the screws though, as there doesn't seem to be any way to replenish them, and the daily quest involving them... requires that you use a screw to get one back.
On the bright side, I'm back to 700 buckets. That means around 60-odd ones to go before I'm back to the numbers I had before I tried to farm Akashi. Will I try to farm 1-5 again for another Akashi just to get more repair equipment though? Hmm... XD Next up on the Kai 2 schedule are: Myouko and Hibiki (70).

Which is why I said you need to have invested a lot of time in it... ... but of course, there's always the option of the magic card. |

And apparently it's going to based on Operation Kon, which was the defense of Biak Island:

So you guys prepared for the next event? Ships? Resources? Buckets?
A 'game' that I will steal from another forum, basically to give you the general outlook of your fleet. It is to list the ship ranked based on their level at every 10 ranks. For example my case is: 01st: Haruna lvl 142 11th: I-168 lvl 99 21st: Chiyoda lvl 98 31st: Akagi lvl 97 41st: Shoukaku lvl 96 51st: Hyuuga lvl 96 61st: Bismarck lvl 91 71st: Z3 lvl 76 81st: Akatsuki lvl 61 91st: Inazuma lvl 48 101st: Tokitsukaze lvl 36 So if you looks at it. You will see my waifu Haruna. Then a sea wall of subs level 99 above everyone else. They are part of fifty ships level 96+ my main fleets, with all the BB and CV ready. While followed by around 25 ships or so in currently under grinding (include Bismarck, from 81st to 51st). While anything below lvl 61 are just expeditions DD, or spare ships. Indicate pretty well the current state of my fleets

Am I reading that right? Do you seriously have over 60 ships above level 90?
I have 3: Ryuujou, Kitakami, and Ooi. And I thought I was in okay shape for the event. I've got 538 buckets, 60.8k fuel, 72.1k ammo, 77.7k steel, and 46.8k bauxite. If I play cautiously, wait for solid information, and continue gathering resources over the next two weeks, I'm pretty confident I'll do alright. |

Past level 70-80, the benefit of levels aren't that noticeable (especially with 90+).
Also, sheer number of high leveled ships doesn't mean anything if most of them are BB, SS and CLT which happen for a lot of people. I have 38 ships that are 90+ and I don't feel like I have a urge need for more. That's also why I don't see the point of displaying one's full roster. What's more important is the variety of ships and equipements you have at your disposal. Al/Mi nailed the point thoroughly.

Hmm, I wonder about my readiness for the event in regard to my HQ level (89, soon to be 90, damn, why does it rise so quickly ). 38 girls are at or over level 50, twenty are over 60, nine over 70 and three over 80. Of those 38 five are destroyers, five light cruisers, six heavy cruisers, nine battleships, five light carriers, five fleet carriers and three submarines.

Considering this event was confirmed to be on a lower tier than summer event, you should be fine.
In any case, it is best to stick with resources gathering and smooth exp grinding / equipment crafting than worry about "what if" scenarios. That said, those who don't have many different ships, they ought to do something about it now, as the staff stated combined fleet mechanics will be back in this event.
