So this episode when they were talking about their dreams/aims Midori (writer girl) goes to Aoi (the MC) "Yo! The female Suzuki Toshio".
*Goes to wikipedia* *finds entry for Toshio Suzuki* "Toshio Suzuki (producer) (born 1948), chief producer and president of the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli" So that's who she was talking about....wait a minute.. *sees one other entry for Toshio Suzuki* "Toshio Suzuki (racing driver) (born 1955), former Formula One driver" Which Toshio Suzuki are you refering to, Midori? |

Ep 04
Now this is more like it. A few details about the lives of the main characters to make me a little more engaged in who they are makes what they do all the more interesting. If the series periodically sprinkles such glimpses into the lives of the characters on screen it will only get more interesting for me. As things are it is doing fairly well for itself in a way that feels kinda humble and low key...I like it. Even with the solid all around ep it was Zuka-chan who stole the show for me as well...maybe because the first time we see her we are shown a glimpse of the struggles she is going through and that endeared me a little to her? Maybe. But I certainly enjoyed her character. ^^

Yeah, after Episode 4 I wonder why he still has a job in the anime industry.
I never noticed him much before either way, but then that's not really a positive reflection on him, because it meant I didn't see what he's bringing to the table. In Episode 4, though, I definitely noticed him. He came across to me as highly obnoxious. The calls to Aoi where particularly bad, as I felt like screaming at him "Will you get to the point already?!" I honestly felt like cheering both of the two times Aoi hung up on him. I could not fault her in the least for losing patience with this insufferable goof. From what I can gather, Tarou is both useless and annoying. I could see tolerating an annoying employee if he was genuinely useful in practical ways. I could also see tolerating an useless employee if his coworkers genuinely liked him and he was good for group morale at least. But Tarou appears to be both useless and annoying, so why do they keep him around? Anyway, I liked Episode 4 on the whole. It was probably good to get a slower-paced episode focusing on the five main female characters after the hectic-paced Episodes 1 through 3.

Wonder if Tarou is a reference to this guy who was also useless and annoying from Hana Saku Iroha: http://myanimelist.net/character/39203/Tarou_Jiroumaru
Though I didn't ask him if when he was going to be fired, but when he would be killed. Or perhaps Tarou is like all the fail PA male condensed into a single entity. Scary.

Do your best, Zuka! 5/5 girl. Would definitely get drunk with.
Don't know what Tarou did this time but isn't it common for some key animators to do stuffs like not finishing their work on time, though? Unless he accidentally burned half of ep 8's genga I don't think it'll be that bad (for his career).

I was cheered when Aoi hung up on Tarou both times he called, because for one it was her day off, and for the other he's a tosser. An apparently incompetent tosser to boot!
So it was good that she didn't rush over to clear up his mess. We've already seen Tarou screw up once, and depending on what he's done wrong this time he's either due for a Good Talking To or the sack. Maybe they'll give him a last chance to shape up if he wants to keep his job. |

Looking at it, quite a number of the guys in this show are pretty, well, un-awesome. Most of the females on the other hand are all kinds of cool.

Felt great when Aoi hung on on Tarou. Loved the air-conditioner argument. Luckily, where I am now, people around me all like the cold.
There was once where two girls got really bitchy cause of the same argument in the episode. It got scary at times. A slow episode for once. To be honest, when the girls came together, except mostly for Aoi, I can't really differentiate their voices if I were to close my eyes. Starting to remind me of someone who said the recent batch of seiyuus sounded too similar to each other. Hearing Tamura Yukari here was a treat. Was she parodying herself or someone else? |

Is it just me, or should Tarou not be allowed to work with the animation department? I mean, he let that slow animator drag their feet in the first episode, and then he annoyed Segawa so that Aoi had to handle her, and that was episode 4 of Exodus, wasn't it? And now he's annoyed Endou into quitting episode 8. Considering how much Endou ("Food, fame or fortune?"-scene) and Segawa (she worked herself to the bone) took from Aoi, they don't seem to be easily pushed to a breaking point, so I wonder what the heck Tarou is doing (is he calling them on their days off too?). |

Workload? You mean the work he's not doing? I wonder if he's related to someone.
However, I read earlier in the thread (and in Japanese Wikipedia) that director Mizushima says Tarou is himself, earlier in his career. He said that and then he apologized, lol. So perhaps there's hope. Excellent voice work by Yoshino Hiroyuki (not the anime writer, the seiyuu who played Kai in Blood+ and Allelujah Haptism in Gundam00). He makes Tarou even more objectionable than the script alone would have done.
