I would have preferred it if they cut down the fluff, and kept it like the old Sailor Moon series.
It had a ton of filler, but I much preferred the bravado of all the posing, and music cues and attack callouts.

Great news, but will Toei cram the rest of the manga? In any case, I'm excited to see Chibiusa again!

I don't really see anything at all noteworthy about those "news". We've known since the beginning that Crystal would have 26 episodes. They've been running at a one chapter = one episode pacing so far. Chapter 26 concludes the Black Moon arc, which Chibiusa plays a major part in. Thus... well of course she'll be in Crystal, was that even a question?

I can only guess that many people doesn't seem to have a grasp of what this series will adapt...
26 episodes, 1-1 Manga-Anime Adaption, only the first two arcs will we get... So far, in the least...

Pretty much expected, though a confirmation like this is nice.

Though I would much prefer to see if there is any hope for the other arcs to be adapted because they are the best part of the manga.

I remember despising Chibiusa in the original anime, so... might call the series "over" for me once the current arc is done.

^^ I totally didn't like ChibiUsa in the old anime too, but in the manga she is a lot less untolerable, sometimes I even found her cute, especially from third arc onwards. Just saying that, don't just give up on her this time around, and I personally think the second arc is a little better than the first arc.

There were many people in denial, even at this stage. It's good to finally get the official word.

Can only agree with this. I wouldn't judge Chibiusa by her anime personality- especially not if you were watching any of the dubs out there.
I quite liked her in the manga, in particular after reading Parallel Moon She was my favourite person in that side story.
I also always enjoyed the Chibiusa+Hotaru combo in the manga.
I'd go as far as speculating that her base personality and characterization should actually sit a lot better with modern audiences than Usagi's. She's far more independent, smart and well-adjusted than she gets credit for.

And I even dare to say that I like manga!ChibiUsa more than Usagi from either the old anime or the manga, especially from the third arc. I still want Crystal to actually tone down the incest vibe that both the Black Moon arc of the old anime and manga are guilty of, if that happens then Crystal would score a lot more points for me.

Episode 09.

I'm not going to either reflect or reitate on somebody else's opinion from what I read about this episode.

In my personal opinion, I'm liking the turn and developments of this second anime to Sailor Moon. The scope of the show is mostly story driven, and the developments are being handled in quite a natural way concerning, for example, Usagi and Mamoru building-up of their chemistry even before realizing their past lives and secret identities.

I liked as well how the Sailor Senshi from the past were portrayed as very close and very personal friends to the princess of the Moon, and how contemplating at Mamoru the Shitennou are beginning to sense some familiarity from past time.

As well, this second series manages to explain more clearly what transpired during the Moon-Earth war, more so than during the first season of the first anime.

Looks like Beryl has a new toy now in her hands...

I don't remember any of the senshi/shitennou dialogue in the manga. Apart from a one-off cover from Takeuchi, the one with the senshi and shitennou, I don't remember anything in the manga that confirmed they loved each other in their past lives. Did they change the story?

Did we met Usagis dad in the original anime, i dont remember that?

And 4 generals being the lovers of the Senshi! I didnt expect that twist! because i didnt read the manga! I like that!

Usagi was amazing!

Well, it seems I'm a glutton for punishment and got up to date with Crystal. I wasn't really planning on posting since I still think Crystal's close to shit on every level (writing, pacing, direction, animation, music, voice acting)... but I'm bored so why the hell not participate in this trainwreck?

Yes, he was there. Definitely starting from episode 2.

Not really. The first series just didn't have that backstory (Beryl freeing Metalia, etc) and just showed parts of the invasion, which they did better than Crystal's static screens IMHO, but maybe you prefer suicidal girls...

You serious? I'm not going to go back to those episodes and check but I'm pretty sure Usagi had feelings for Mamoru on their first meeting in Crystal and Mamoru fell for her and knew she was Sailor Moon by their third meeting. Where's the "build-up" of this "chemistry" you are talking about?

Same goes for all the comments that say the Guardians have better personalities in this adaptation than the first when I think they have none. Their only personality trait in Crystal is "must support usagi cause precious friend(really? why?)/princess." They may all as well be one person, too. (I know there's some people here who agree they're not getting any development in Crystal so treat this as a "+1" to their posts.)

Spoiler: Not making it a secret I tend to like the first anime adaptations more than subsequent "faithful redos", be it SM, Fullmetal Alchemist, Rozen Maiden. And yes, I have read the mangas.
