Joining the chorus of "what a great episode!"
Finally we have some background on Mendoza, even if it's nothing very unique - although I did like the part where, for just a short while, he could've had a normal life (or, well, what passes for normal for a sociopath like him). I also continue to love Alfonso. I'd been a bit worried when he was introduced, but it's great to see him having grown into such a heroic character. He and León make a great pair (and yes, his cousin can learn a lot from him), and I also like the way Alfonso shakes up the group dynamics (too bad that Ema had to leave already, she's also such a fun character). One thing, though... it's probably my memory giving out, but wasn't it Germán who told Leon about Anna and her sister? For some reason I always thought it was him... |

I'm kinda hoping it won't come to that because I get a sense that all three of the Makai Knights are going to have to be present in EOS. Then again, that would give Leon and Alfonso further motivation to become stronger since both of them would've lost their mentors.

Plot twist: Bernando and Leon are biological father and son. German is infertile so he asked his friend to make Anna pregnant. O___O
Anyone on a serious note, if German were to die, i'm expecting it to be after he did something big, i doubt stopping his fallen friend counts as big, or does it. ( ._.) |

As for the deathflags, Herman had them since the very beginning. But I hope that he'll avoid them at least for this season. Two dead mentors is probably too much. |

That was glorious. The action was fast and intense just like I expected between Herman and Bernado. And sigh, it looks like Mendoza is pushing his plan forward for good now.
Alphonse and Leon makes a good team imo but the prince needs to be careful of horrors in disguise. Really found some of the flashbacks interesting during the latest episode as well. I can't wait for next week~

I don't really agree with Mendozas methods but I find the notion that the Makai Knights/Alchemists HAVE to protect humans pretty stupid in itself. In the flashback of Bernardo I didn't see anything wrong with anything until Mendoza showed up. Why shouldn't they kill humans that attack them?
I don't get it. |

Honestly, if I were to be a makai knight, I would have turned to the not so dark side a while ago. So stupid how they have to defend people that are trying to kill him. The guys can't fight back so they get murdered, while the females gets captured and raped by the people they're supposed to protect. That shit grinds my gears so much! Main reason why I came so very close to dropping this series near the beginning, because of stupid logic like that.

Even in the live-action, there's no explanation as of yet why the Makai Order forbid its knights to directly intervene in human affairs, let alone to kill them even if its sometimes a necessary course of action (unless that human is already Horrified).

That was terrific. The fight between German and Bernardo was amazing on every level. The anime medium is truly perfect for a series like Garo.
I can sympathize with Bernardo. Forsaking your friends to protect the people who persecute you was just too much. No wonder he snapped and killed all those knights. Quote:
The real reason is probably that it simply goes against their philosophy. They exist to protect and save humans. The very act of killing humans possessed by horrors is a way to save them. Killing humans, no matter how rotten they are, goes against everything they stand for.

Well i'm guessing it has something to do with the soul metal, like how the armor goes berserk once the 99.99 is passed. Remember soul metal originally came from Zedom, a horror, so maybe if the armor is stained by blood, the soul metal would revert to its original state.

In addition to preventing the knights/alchemists from turning to horror, I think the restriction is in place mainly to prevent further proliferation of horrors. Imagine if they can kill humans, families of their victims may be more prone to become horrors, like the blacksmith story.

I think it's more about the yin-yang balance. The Makai Knights are required to maintain emotional balance, IIRC, to be more effective in fighting Horrors.
Going to the latest episode, I think they shouldn't killed Bernardo this early. But nonetheless the fight scenes are good. And judging by the next episode preview, the Lost Soul Beast is gonna be unleashed.
