I feel bad and a bit angry whenever I killed an animal for nothing. During my childhood, I frequently played with ants or other insects, pitted them against one another (usually different species of ants, or different genus of insects, or arachnids or arthropods). They usually battled to the death which I found amusing (I released the winner coz it "earned its freedom"). There are other cases of my fooling around with bugs resulted in their demise. To some degree, I regret and feel guilty for what I've done, making a Bloodsport outta those bugs .
On the other hand, I feel no remorse for killing animals that bugs the hell out of me, my family, or my pets (that usually goes to roaches, mosquitoes, flies, centipedes, scorpions, etc, etc). I once had some pet birds in my younger days and some of them had been repeatedly fallen prey to a certain species of carnivore red-ants in my neighborhood. It always happened like once every three months or so whenever those red-ants are flourishing in numbers. They made their nests in almost any tree with leave-size that met their standard (in my neighborhood, those red-ants usually build their nest on mango trees). I remember the first time I saw my bird got killed and eaten by a swarm of red-ants I felt so angry that I swore to kill every red-ant (of that particular species) whenever I saw it as long as I can do it and not much of a hassle (kinda like Eren Jaeger when he swore to kill ever f***ing Titan, only not as extreme, and I didn't turn myself into Ant-Man either ). After that "First-Blood", I went on a crusade of exterminating every single one of those f***ing red-ants (in my backyard). I smashed & stepped on them, burned them where they marched, torched every nest that caught my eye, and even use "biological weapons" like bugspray & detergent-water. I finally ended my 'crusade' right before I entered junior highscool after hundreds-of-thousands of them have been put to my swor...err my sandals, my boots, my customized-torches, poison-filled water balls, and bugspray. It was a genocide . Well, I hope this post of mine is entertaining enough. If not then sorry for the text-wall above :P.

As for food, I've killed chickens & turkeys. I've also helped butchering goats and cows. Definitely not a job for the faint-hearted. But we do that to get their meat and share it to the poor on Eid al-Adha Holiday. And yes, I do feel bad whenever I see cats or dogs died a horrible death on the streets.

People should make a new law about cats!
People in the pet shelter not even doing there job right! I saw on tv how they treated animals. i sometimes wish that if i had a lot of money i would help the cats they are treated poorly! What's so great about a dog they only poop and bark and bite Cats are cute and smart and they are way better than dogs!

I've never killed any mammal, but my mom apparently likes to eat certain rodents native in her hometown, though I don't know if she ever killed/cooked them herself. And I believe either my mom's and/or my dad's people do eat dog's meat. I believe my dad even had cat's meat as he said he doesn't like cat's meat (or they're not really edible or something) while dog's meat is okay.

You'll find many predators reluctant to kill eachother (their own kind) apart from basic instincts (sex, food, status) But not one of them will lose a minute of sleep over killing prey You'll find the same traits in humans,...and one extra: Killing for entertainment So it would almost seem like sadism is a pure human trait However, some predators, when faced with abundance of food- much like us- start playing with their prey and can be just as sadistic On another note: You'll find humans having much more guilt killing something that has 'personality' then drones and clones My Grandfather -raised on a farm- could kill about any animal (chickens, pigs, rabbits, cats) But when it came to putting down a dog, somebody else had to take it to the vet

I feel slightly bad about killing an insect, and I'll try for a less lethal solution to one bugging me if possible, but I'll admit I won't hesitate that much if I'm getting swarmed by flies in Summer or if a close friend/relative shouts "Eeewwww, bug, squash it!"
Perhaps oddly, I don't feel as bad about people hunting rabbits, moose, etc... Probably because I know that it'll at least result in significant amounts of food for people. I myself don't hunt though, as I just don't have much interest in it.
