After hearing the truth that both Bellri and Aida are siblings as well as being part of Rayhunton royalty, seems that he got so angry about it. Why throwing a mild hissy fit over that truth, Bell?
On the other hand, seems that one of the Towasangan pilots uttered "Gundam" for the first time! |

I'm glad you guys find it weird that someone would be freaking out upon finding out who their father is for the first time, finding out where they were really born, and that a girl he's known for only a few weeks turned out to be his sister. Also
Please tell me I'm not the only person who thought of this when a certain new character was brought up. |

I find the emotional shifts from characters outright weird. There is no transition, they just flip a switch and go into a completely different emotional state. Even the early bits with Raraiya suddenly breaking down in tears after a sentence. She's all giggling and happy, then a sentence later and she's breaking down.
These people are just plain weird. I don't mind Bellri getting frustrated at all the revelations. And certainly being troubled by his birthplace being a hunk of metal in space could be pretty upsetting. But, again no build up to that. He's responding fine when he's told and he's even having a calm chat a few hours later with Aida. Then they suddenly have him losing his head and flying out to pick a fight.....what? The cast really is the weakness to this show. These people are just too random and go through ridiculous emotional shifts. At least the action is still pretty entertaining and solid.

You. Hit. The. Nail. On. The. Head. Bellri has the hots for Aida? Maybe there's little glimpses of it earlier, but I thought it's mostly Gundam and... recently Raraiaya? *sigh*... |

Come to think of it, I can see both Bellri and Aida as Casval and Artesia, but in a good way of course.
Still, it's a surprise that Towasanga has factions that oppose Noutu Dorette. Speaking of Noutu Dorette, I wonder if he's controlling the government behind the scenes? |

It's very typical of Tomino, though, and I personally think it's just a style of storytelling however outdated it might be. I don't really find Bellri's reaction strange, since he might have simply been in shock from the revelation in the beginning. As he digests more and more of the information (which he notes as he flies past the colony), his emotion becomes stronger and stronger. It's pretty stark contrast to the usual narrative style of most anime, where time slows down to explicitly express thoughts and emotions (something that Gundam shows do employ, though rarely, and mostly on the "new type" kind of connection between people). I actually find it pretty fun to try and guess each character's motivation in Tomino's work, especially since he appears to be fond of characters constantly switching sides. |

Man, what is with these sudden emotions all over the place? And Bellri, I know shock sometimes takes time to set in and much longer to deal with, but I think you'll be okay, really.
I mean you find out you have a sister and parents and are a royal all at once, it's a lot to take in. I knew they were siblings since episode 1, so no shock to me and I never bought into what little traces of romance there was between them. I'm interested in what they will do next and how they will face their respective adoptive parents when next they meet.

With Bellri's newtype mental abilities starting to manifest and the complexity of his current situation I'm not surprised he started to have a bit of a breakdown. Hes been grappling with personal, military, and ethical conflicts that just keep getting more complicated without ever having time to hash things out.
As far as the Bellri x Aida ship goes, I think that one was always a long shot without significant relationship building that the series doesn't seem to have time for. Based on Aida saying her lover was killed, I'd assume that meant she was in an relationship with Calhill rather than just crushing on him. So you have to think how hard it would be for someone to fall for their former lover's killer regardless of the circumstances. I know soon after Bellri became a staple on the Megafauna we had a scene where Aida was in tears having to come to terms with the fact she would have to work alongside her lover's murderer. Given how jaded she seemed about the scheming that was put in place with the Rayhunton codes that indirectly led to Calhills death, I don't think she ever sorted those feelings out. With that said, Bellri's feelings for Aida seem unrequited. |

G-g-gundam??!!
OMFG GIVE THE GUY A FUCKING MEDAL FOR SOMEONE FINALLY SAYING IT On the other hand, like everyone else noted, the moods swings are just too weird If there is one thing I can really really give this show credit for, is that it put all of its shortcomings out there, you really don't even need to think about it, just watch the episode from start to finish and you will remember all the "WTF" and "Huh?" moments |
