I will need the raws to make a better opinion considering what I watched was rather jerky, but I'm quite satisfied how they dealt with ep3 aftermath.
They didn't go melodrama whatsoever, but they didn't sweep the matter under the rug. Using the Kongou sisters to alleviate the heavy atmosphere all the while keeping the serious part of the battles was a good call. They also didn't forget the usual characterization for Shimakaze, while introducing more ships like Haguro, Nachi and Houshou.

The mood whiplash in this episode is the most severe I've seen in recent memory. I don't know how other people are going to take the lack of impact that Kisaragi's death has had on the whole...
The Kongous were hilarious. Still, the audience is going to have a hard time reconciling those two things.

See, they handled it pretty well. Akagi's speech gave Fubuki her first important lesson, and Kongou gave her her second. If words can't do the trick, then do it by action. Very simplistic but that's how this series is rolling. I doubt Mutsuki has fully accepted Kisaragi's death yet but thanks to Fubuki she at least tries to carry the burden now instead of run away from reality.
Kongou is too much fun. I learned something new as well. Never upset her or her hand might accidently slip and kill you with an overdosis of BURNING LOVE.

Best Episode so far I think. Love the Kongou Sisters action with that character song 8D
Nao Toyama's performance with Kongou is so spectacular that Episode 3's feels totally blew away. When that fist totally punched away that Ru-class' bullet, I thought that was Kirishima instead of Kongou... =w= |

The Kongo sisters are really eccentric bunch aren't they .... well Nagato is still being Nagamon
btw Shimkaze is op as a DD 3 renshou following her around ... yup top tier dd wonder if Poi Kai ni get animated too and the feels .... Mutsuki ... i really wished they stick to 2d animation rather then 3d on combat feel a bit jarring ( But guess to due budget ain't going to happen ) |

Spoiler for Episode 4: characters appearance:
There were quite a lot of cameo this week. And I forgot to mention "similar to the flagship protection". Going to fix that. Also going to update the faq.

Or see it like this: Kongou took the hit, not Fubuki. She was the one who took the hit for her and flagship protection could have supported her further which makes it a bit more believable for those who are trying to look for some realism regarding that Kongou punch. But yeah, not gonna fool myself here. If anything it was the general high armour value of a BB that allowed her to not even get a scratch when she punched it away and that's pretty much it. Or even simpler: Kongou can, therefore she does.
