I don't think that's as easy as you might think. Presumably the television network(s) already expect this show to premiere at the beginning of a future season. I doubt they'd be happy to hear they have to put off the premiere until the season after that and find some other program to fill the slot.

To be fair to Tarou, he doesn't bother me as much as he once did.
He earned a certain degree of forgiveness from me when he offered to drive Yano during a family emergency a few episodes ago. Sure, his reasons for that was typical egotistical Tarou, but it was nonetheless a very good thing that he did there, and something that a lot of people probably wouldn't be as willing and eager to do. He also seems a bit more involved and "with it" to me, here in Cour 2. Still a bit obnoxious at times, but I at least now get the sense he's willing to do some actual work. On the whole, Shirobako continues to be a very good and rewarding watch. Very good handling of both of the two new major female characters. Nice personality contrast between them. Great to get the impression that each creative choice, even down to the saturation level of a full-color character design, is carefully considered by the animation team.

A bigger studio would only mean that they might have higher chances of managing it - other sections of it might as well work on a different show though. So yeah its not really Musani's fault here if they can't keep the deadline.

Please don't tell me the crunchyroll subbers didn't know that the next language after german was chinese...
anyways, goth loli sama is too cool Really nice to see that even the backgrounds are symbolistic no matter how realistic they are. Like how the clouds were their emotions. The plane one is a bit predictable since those are always just manifestations of the characters. Last edited by IceHism; 2015-01-29 at 13:00. |

Sheesh, the production staff shouldn't have to waste time deciphering the author's obscure riddles. But I guess it gave Iguchi-san the chance to grow as a character designer and we got to learn that the all-knowing goth loli wasn't always a goth loli to begin with. Honestly, I found the old Ogasawara more relatable and could take her more seriously in her normal casual attire, but admittedly, I liked her explanation of why she started cosplaying as a goth. But yeah, the old Ogasawara was much more adorable and approachable compared to the always cool and collected goth loli-sama she turned herself into.
Anyway, the episode seemed to convey that the staff will sometimes find themselves having to deal with uncooperative authors who don't attend table-reads or even take the time to confer with the staff on the phone. It's part of the territory and just another obstacle that needs to be cleared before the cascade effect takes over completely. Also, the rest of the production staff should bend over backwards to create the perfect conducive environment for the character designer so that they can do their work properly. It's not like everyone's discouraged and affected from the setback they've suffered because of one douchebag. I'm kidding, but I doubt the bigwigs are so nice that they'd let themselves be chastised by a key animator. That's some optimistic/idealistic thinking on the show's part. |

For those of you that didn't get the baseball joke, "Gothic-Lolita Girls Koushien" (女ゴスロリ甲子園) is a parody of "Idiot Boys Koushien" (男どアホウ甲子園), old 70s baseball manga. For some reason the episode was full of 70s jokes, starting with Ideon's all-range attack to Yell at the Sun cop show BGM at the end when they "arrest" the editor.

Liked the golf clubs on the roof. Do you suppose the MusAni staff goes up there to smash a couple of 3-woods off the roof from time to time? If so, do you think they wonder what happens to the balls?
Japan has such little room for golf courses that the rates are sky high. By the 1980's Japanese golfers had come in droves to Hawaii and drove up the prices there as well. While rates were high by US standards, they were still half or less of what it would cost to play in Japan. The bloom is off the rose nowadays though, and a number of courses have gone bankrupt. In fact, many Japanese "golfers" like the editor may never have played on an actual course. They simply cannot afford the fees and spend their time in multi-tiered driving ranges.
