And from those test shots it looks like they're making the characters be really expressive with their body language which I don't see with 2D animation as much. But that original 2D trailer was so cute. ;-;

While I prefer 2D in general, this project looks pretty well-produced so I don't mind the 3D as much as I usually would. I remember seeing the first 3D teaser and going "...eh", but that little update video of the production actually looks kind of promising. It does remind me a bit of Pixar or Dreamworks, which is not a bad thing at all. I'm still sad to see the 2D go, but I'll welcome this if the quality really stays this high.

Well, the new CGI looks quite good. I really like the new or modified character design. I hope they'll release this soon - really looking forward to seeing this series.

Supposedly new photos from the Miraculous Ladybug crossed my Twitter feed late yesterday. Even if they aren't actually new photos, I don't remember seeing them before, so I thought I'd share. I'm having trouble extracting the photos from their tweet. So here's the link to the tweet. I still prefer the original 2d look rather than the newer 3d look.

I think it is standard Toei procedure for taking that long unless it is Pretty Cure , One Piece, and Dragon Ball. It took them like two plus years to get Expelled from Paradise and Sailor Moon Remake out after announcement. My guess is that the production of Precure/DBZ/One Piece took up most of their manpower.

Well, finally this is coming out. Hopefully someone will stream it online because I don't have Nickelodeon. I like the other song they played with the old PV compared to this one, and the previous character design was cuter, in my opinion.

I wish the Disney Channel had the US license. Maybe then I could have seen the entire first season like the rest of the world. Nickelodeon has the license here. As far as I can tell, they've only shown about half of the first season. Based on what the Miraculous Twitter fandom has said, there are several more episodes Nickelodeon hasn't shown.

What? It already aired and season 1 is over? Frack, why is it that I wasn't even aware of this? (...wait, don't answer that).

Edit: I did not like the character/personality change for the male MC. I preferred their original design of a slightly more nerdy/straight-jacket type of guy. The "cool" type is so overused and boring.

Edit2: Hmm, a bit more kiddish than I expected. Certainly not as good as some of the anime of similar genre I've seen (yes, I know this isn't anime but just for comparison purpose).

For those you wondering why Felix was replaced by Adrian, the creator, Thomas Astruc, gave this explanation.

In short, Felix was a selfish asshole who didn't love Marinette and the creator realize this would give viewers the wrong idea that girls should love this kind of guy and boys should be like Felix. Hence why the kinder and nicer Adrian was made since he actually loves Marinette.

Also remember the Toei animation anime PV of Ladybug that Miraculous was originally planned to be before becoming 3D?

Adrien is a stereotypical occidental popular boy and Felix was a stereotypical bishounen japanese of manga/anime shoujo of the variety cool and cold (and asshole) Sasuke class. If you have seen anime/manga (shoujo principally) is almost sure that you have seen this shit many times and Unlike Japan, in other countries isn't well seen.

I think that is a good change in that case, but I still miss the anime and super moe Marinette. The case with Japanese Marinette and New Marinette is similar

Season 1 isn't over. Not in the US. Nickelodeon simply stopped showing new episodes. That's the source of my anger.

The show went off the air for several months. Then Nick brought it back to one of its secondary channels. They showed 1 or maybe 2 new episodes then. But it's been nothing but repeats of the first half of the season since. I only know that there are episodes not yet shown in the US because I follow the fandom on Twitter where everyone world-wide has been gushing about the later episodes.

The show's creator / producer tweeted several times that Nick hasn't canceled the series. You can still find it on Nick's web site, complete with full episodes of what has been shown, or on the secondary channel. But no one will say when or even if we'll get the rest of season 1.

And season 2 is reportedly already in the works.

Edit: As for the personality changes between Felix and Adrien, I don't mind them. I like Adrien. I like that even though he's the spokesperson model for that clothing line, he's not using his fame to lord it over his friends. (That's Cloe's job. )

Although I miss the original 2d look of the preview, I've become used to the 3d look and don't even think much about it anymore.

Thanks for that twitter link. I didn't realize that Felix was set up as an arrogant, heartless a-hole. I thought he was withholding himself because of family situation and when he became Cat Noir, that was his real personality. But if he was originally designed to be like Ookami Shoujo...bleh, no thanks then.

The only gripe I have is that Adrien is the stereotypical western-type popular boy with a sunny attitude (...and a model to boot...ugh). Wish they would have come up with something more original and down-to-earth. Both Cat Noir characters are stereotypes just on opposite ends of the spectrum. But I do agree that Adrien may be the lesser of 2 "evils".
