USA police kills 385 in first 5 months of 2015

Fatal police shootings in 2015 approaching 400 nationwide

Number seems a bit high but it might be the culture of the USA?

Quote:
●About half the victims were white, half minority. But the demographics shifted sharply among the unarmed victims, two-thirds of whom were black or Hispanic. Overall, blacks were killed at three times the rate of whites or other minorities when adjusting by the population of the census tracts where the shootings occurred.
●The vast majority of victims — more than 80 percent — were armed with potentially lethal objects, primarily guns, but also knives, machetes, revving vehicles and, in one case, a nail gun.
●Forty-nine people had no weapon, while the guns wielded by 13 others turned out to be toys. In all, 16 percent were either carrying a toy or were unarmed.
●The dead ranged in age from 16 to 83. Eight were children younger than 18, including Jessie Hernandez, 17, who was shot three times by Denver police officers as she and a carload of friends allegedly tried to run them down.

The Post analysis also sheds light on the situations that most commonly gave rise to fatal shootings. About half of the time, police were responding to people seeking help with domestic disturbances and other complex social situations: A homeless person behaving erratically. A boyfriend threatening violence. A son trying to kill himself.

Ninety-two victims — nearly a quarter of those killed — were identified by police or family members as mentally ill.

Unfortunately it is. It is faster for a person with concealed carry to draw and stare down a raging armed idiot than a police officer dashing out of his station in his cruiser. America is big and there isn't enough policemen on duty to cover all ends of the continent.

The problem is education on the use of firearms. Military/Police security usually is taught the "Observe-Ready-Draw" cycle; most people have an itchy finger and do the reverse. And then there is the filing down of serial numbers, etc.

US has a deeply embedded gun culture. They have been known to defend themselves from thugs, wild animals, Indians who scalp them as a tradition and Mexicans since even before the Seven Years War. It is just that today, the term "self-defence" has been lost in the paranoia of anything "UnAmerican".

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Canada is almost as big with 1/10 the population. Good thing our murder rate is only 1/3 of USA (1.5 vs 4.7 per 100000).

/shameless bragging

That is because you Canadians are too nice.

Wait until hockey becomes derided as a "retarded" sport and scientific consensus proves it so. Then we would see Canada invade US to take control of the ICBMs to nuke the research centres that conducted the study.

That's the murder rate, this however, is the rate of the police killing someone.
Saw a joke on Reddit
"I'm calling the cops"
"You IDIOT, you want to kill us all?"
Everyone in the vicinity runs.

BTW this is the kill rate, I rather not think about the shooting injury rate.
Reminds me of a Weird Al's song, "We come in peace, shoot to kill"

lol. They should be safe as long as they have their hands up. But yea, there's a risk if you call cops to take care of your rebellious teenage children. American police have a real fear of that possible concealed gun inside your pocket even if you appear to be non-hostile otherwise.

The 2011 Vancouver Hockey Riots made international headlines. Everyone thought that Canadians were nice people....until hockey comes into the picture.

Maybe they can take a look at number 4
5 Terrible Ideas That Solved Huge Global Problems

Quote:
#4. Georgia (the Country) Fires All Its Cops

The Plan:

There is nothing worse than a corrupt police officer -- just look at the comment section under any taser video on YouTube. Unfortunately for the citizens of the country of Georgia, that was pretty much the only flavor their traffic cops came in. In 2004, things had gotten so bad that the newly elected President Mikheil Saakashvili made it his mission to stop the police from harassing his people.

Saakashvili didn't mess around, either. He fired all the heads of law enforcement and threatened that any traffic cop caught harassing civilians, taking bribes or generally behaving all uppity would be fired or arrested. The police force scoffed at the attempts of this puny "president" person and behaved exactly like they always had, confident that Saakashvili wouldn't touch them. So, the very next day after this announcement, when a whopping 15,000 cops were caught taking bribes, Saakashvili fired every single one of them.

Then, a couple of weeks later, another 15,000 police officers were caught participating in shenanigans. So he fired them, too. With 30,000 corrupt officers freshly in the unemployment line, Saakashvili had finally succeeded. The police department was finally clean! Huzzah! Only, there was one little problem. There were no traffic cops left.

Oh, and the firings took place around the holidays, when drinking and driving tends to be an even worse problem than during the rest of the year. It had the makings of Worst Idea Ever.

How It Worked:

The whole country of Georgia promptly fell into a drunken reenactment of Mad Max that is still going on today. Ha, just kidding! Instead of indulging in a nationwide game of bumper cars, everything went just fine -- in fact, even better than normal. And we don't mean that the citizens held themselves together for a couple of days until new cops could be hired. They were without police for three freaking months. And it was fine.

Saakashvili's administration quickly realized this was because it had been the cops causing most of the trouble all along. A remnant from the Soviet era, they'd treated the roads as their personal piggy bank, administering their very own brand of expensive justice at will and causing mob-style chaos as they did. When they were taken out of the equation, not even a hint of disorder was left because they had been the disorder.

It took three whole months to find enough reliable replacements, but with some help from the United States in recruiting and training the new police force, Georgia got back to normal.
