There are three possible ways Jon lives on, assuming he does. And based on his likely parentage it seems almost impossible he won't be needed for the endgame.

1. The Warg route, into Ghost. We already know Jon can do this and Ghost is presumably nearby, but given what we know about what happens after skinchangers warg into animals, this is problematic.

2. The White Walker route. A touching reunion with Benjen? Dissent within the wights? It could happen, but I favor the last option...

3. The Kiss of Life. We already know red priests can revive the dead (Thoros of Myr and Berric Dondarrion). Melissandre very conspicuously arrives back at Castle Black before Jon is murdered. Mel is likely looking for a new horse to back after she destroyed Stannis' life and left him to die. This one makes the most sense to me - it'll be a hard road for Jon, no doubt.

Tommen seems quite enthusiastic about extending the line.

The TV show hasn't shown the dreams of being able to do number 1 so I doubt that will happen.

Honestly, I'm wondering if they might try and replace the actor who plays Bran if only because he had an extreme growth spurt and is undoubtedly still growing .

That makes me wonder about how they'll do season 6. Book 6 probably won't be out before it airs, so I wonder if they'll just make a majority of it the storylines they skipped.

Benioff has said publicly that he wants Isaac back for S6, so I hope not - I think he did a very good job. But Kristian Nairn has lamented how much harder that growth spurt has made his job.

They supposedly have firm outlines from Martin as to what happens in the next books

. So, technically speaking they should know what happens. Though I wouldn't be surpassed if Martin isn't changing some stuff based on what the producers and writers are song with his books.

Calling it here first. Jon Snow is dead (in the television series), but Kit Harrington will return for the rest of the series, only as a new character: Aegon Targaryen. He'll get Emilia Clarke's dye job, and start getting ready to conquer Westeros as the half-brother to Jon Snow .

It's hard to see Jon not being back in same form, under another name or not. The TV has already cut one subplot with a character who seemed vital to Martin's endgame - if they cut Jon too, the cupboard is starting to look pretty bare. Torture porn and sexual violence can only take a TV show so far, no matter what D & D seem to believe.

I've read the interview of Kit Harrington. He says Jon Snow is dead but the way he says it though it sounds like he, as an actor, isn't coming back. I don't think it's a case of Jon "Snow" being dead and Jon Stark or Jon Targaryen being born. Looks like he's flat out dead. Unless they bring a different actor to play him but that wouldn't make any sense.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't come back. The TV show has changed some points from the books (I'm looking at you, Lady Stoneheart), and I wouldn't be surprised if they go in a different direction than the books for him. There's multiple and plausible ways for him to come back in both the show and books, those being him coming back as Azor Ahai, Jon Targaryen, or even a white walker.

I'm actually inclined to believe the show may go the white walker path, seeing as they've made them incredibly more relevant in it than the books.

1) To be resurrected, one must be dead. We've seen resurrection in this series, and there happens to be someone who just entered the Castle who can do it.

2) What else is he going to say? ANYTHING other than "He's dead" is a 100% tell that he's not dead. He said literally the only thing he could say that wouldn't get him into loads of contractual and legal trouble.
