I really like this, it bring me old vibes like black lagoon ones. What I really dont understand is why on other places people hate this series so much, I mean the same people who praise yuri stuff like Hibike for AOTS is the same who throw shit against Gangsta.

Leaving aside the rant (sorry for that), why Nina told that to Alex? is she really afraid of Nico or is something else?

Yes, as the poster above me said, this gave me some serious black lagoon vibes, but this instead of assassins nurses, there's a katana wielding deaf guy. Got serious goosebump when he kicked the car.

I love both series, myself, though it's hard to imagine two series more different in everything but their quality and basic seriousness.

What people have against this series may be that it shows so much violence, and includes (without directly showing) real violence against women. I've ranted against violence against women in other series, but here it doesn't bother me, since it's taken seriously, not tossed off as if it doesn't matter. But I won't blame people who can't take it. Violence against women is a real problem in society everywhere. This show helps us realize that, in fact.

It would seem that Simon's been taking lessons from Shizuo in the art of street fighting. And Nic still whupped him.

Makes you wonder what a Nic vs Shizuo fight would be like.

Also, based upon how much they covered in this episode (and how much material they skipped), it looks like they're going to cram the entire manga into one cour.

This was a good first ep. I really liked how one of the MCs was deaf and how they included the sign language and everything. It was realistic and stands out from the usual "pretty/perfect" anime characters.

I don't have a problem with violence and victimization shown so far. I think it was done tactfully and revealed enough to properly convey the difficult life these characters are really living in this part of society. To have glossed over these dark details would have been to ignore those who are suffering in these situations. Watching these difficult scenes forces you to think about the dark side of our world that most prefer to not think about. And it's sometimes a good thing to draw people's awareness to these issues instead of ignoring it. I think the series, at least in the first ep, properly conveyed the dark nature of this part of society, enough to raise awareness; they didn't romanticize or overly dramatize the violence merely for the sake of entertainment

Well this one was pretty good, interesting to have a deaf guy as the lead. I also love me some dark skin anime babes. Will be following this one hopefully to the end. Huh so the funimation one is censored, guess I'll have to start watching Underwater's then.

Another good episode although I like the first one better. Nicholas still impresses me with his role in this season.

nic is pretty badass and it seems like they are trying to set up a nic x alex pairing but truth be told i don't even understand how you could have romance in the world they live in.

So there are "Twilight" (not sparkling Vampires!!!) classes ranking from A/0 to D/X (whatever is the highest number) and ofc our Nico is such an A/0 badass he can easily deal with little Hulk going smash smash on him.^^

And on that note I'd like to reiterate how much I appreciate the opening and ending. So much ossan service, even the shots where they're wearing clothes (but pose for the camera). Also, the part where Nic stuffed his dog tags in his back pocket was this close to being a blatant butt shot.

The second episode kind of remind me of a Hollywood movie where the MC has to take pills to be in a good state. The animation felt good but the fight really took a lot of time to finish it

Nick was badass and so was the doctor. I got a laugh out of the doctor stopping the fight just so he can try to stab Nic for damaging the clinic. Also the episode gave some nice exposition on dog tags and how people see them.

The doctor seemed just as dangerous as Nic TBH. I couldn't figure out if the Doctor really was more dangerous than him or if they just have that sort of relationship where Nic simply won't lift a finger to defend himself against him for whatever reason.

Yeah ... kinda torn about this one. It is plainly well done in so many aspects, but the type of story is just not my thing.

Well ... will give it another ep for now.
