To me it seems the author is holding back for some reason like he's moving toward his goal but just can't seem to find a way to properly climax the story. The ecchi and the story itself is fine great even but for some reason the fights aren't as good as they could be there're good but not great.

Yea plus the most dangeorus part is that thus far its clear he's torn. Rokka seems like she should be the main love interest but its clear that Rokka is more an annoyance.

Agreed Rokka is definitely the "first girl" but I'm guessing the author will probably go harem or open end route.

I completely agree with this, he can merge and fuse with youkai, but through 60 or so chapters he can only partially use with Rokka, I feel like the author could do so much more.

I was really expecting a Hime fusion during that big fight there and was really disappointed it ended up just being Rokka again.

He doesn't even know yet that he can fuse with other Youkai besides Rokka, too. That's probably why.

And yeah, Rokka's supposed to be the main love interest, but she's an annoyance and Yatsuki doesn't act like he cares that she's the main love interest.

Another thing I hate is that it took that fake Yatsuki not reacting to her boobs for Nanao to be able to tell that it's a fake. Is Yatsuki really the kind of guy who'd show that kind of arousal type reaction to any girl, even if it's his own sister? That's just wrong.

There is some backstory from 71-73 of the manga apparently Icchan and Junk-san knew each other as kids, there was a misunderstanding which caused Junk-san to think she had killed his friend(she was protecting her) and they never saw each other again. They have a strong bond or something but not as strong as Rokka's or Hime's.
