Guess it's not for you then. Gamers! is just a funny romcom. There isn't a serious plot at all... Unless it's used for parodies for a secondary character.

I ignored the ranks for the first places but looking at them I noticed Index in the character list among the top.

And it's surprising because her role in the series took a huge dipe since NT started. I wonder why.

Or should I ask this on the respective character/novel thread?

07. Toaru Majutsu no Index series

Female MCs:
01. Misaka Mikoto (Index)
09. Othinus (Index)
10. Index (Index)
12. White Queen (Mitou Shoukan)
16. Shokuhou Misaki (Index)

Male MCs:
03. Kamijou Touma (Index)
04. Accelerator (Index)
13. Shiroyama Kyousuke (Mitou Shoukan)
20. Jinnai Shinobu (Zashiki Warashi)

Illustrators:
02. Haimura Kiyotaka (Index)
17. Mahaya (Zashiki Warashi)
26. Ikawa Waki (Mitou Shoukan)
A surprisingly good showing from the Kamachi series. While it's a shame that Zashiki Warashi couldn't rank in the Top 60 this year, it pretty nice seeing characters and illustrators from Kamachi's other series rank highly.

---

As a way to counteract repetitive entries in the top 10, I'm thinking that series/characters that regularly rank at the top should be placed in a 'Hall of Fame' of sorts and excluded from the rankings afterwards. Index, SAO and Oregairu seem to fit the bill of entering in the Hall of Fame. It gets kinda boring if there's complete dominance for more than 2 years in a row.

It did say Oregairu has entered Hall of Fame this year. So we might not see it in the ranking next year. Cant believe Oregiru entered it so quickly even though its relatively new series (2011).

That's what it says on the cover of 2016 Kono LN ga Sugoi

"Oregairu: Ranked 1st in the series ranking for 3 years straight. Entered the Hall of Fame".
Quote:
It's written on the bottom-left of the cover inside the red-bubble.

Well, Oregairu got the Yuuki Tatsuya treatment.

Hall of Fame doesn't necessarily mean actual retirement from the voting pool though. If that were the case, Mikoto would have been out since 2011.

I think QHS meant a hall of fame for retirement.

True. I guess it cant gurantee that Oregairu's Hall of Fame would imply its excusion from the rankings.
Has Index been given the Hall of Fame in previous years? I think it was given the number 1 series in the past 10 years or something (in 2015 KonoRanobe ranking).

HP Ranking (?) If I'm reading right:
Spoiler:

OreGairu, SAO, and Index took top 3

Looks like Blood Sign placed 76 and Zashiki Warashi 91 in Best LN? Correct me if I'm wrong. And apologies if posted before.

It was only ranked #1 once. The rest of the years it was hovering around the top 5 after that.

I don't think they would retire characters though.

Index was given:
1st Place Best Novel Series in 2011
1st Place Best Novel Series of 10 Years in 2014

Not sure if that warrants Hall of Fame.

Blood Sign's characters making it in the top 20 range was a surprise even though the series itself didn't make it into the 60s.

What about the other three, "Kanae no Hoshi", "Zettai naru Isolator" and "DOWL Masters"? Any word on how they were received in Japan?

it's good sign for blood sign (no pun intended ), the story itself hasn't reach any impactful moment yet , but the characters gave a modal for being popular and in this character poll they are really a dark horse if you remember how hard to get a rank in character poll for a newcomer nonetheless, it's just kamachi trying to use an orthodox modern trope of OP mc and yandere heroine with his own style, i hope if it will become an anime it's not too hard to adapt.

^It got 10th for the HP voting (the popularity vote). Means that it's popular with the readers, not the collabs and monitors.

7. Saekano
8. Rokka
9. Seishun Buta (Sakurasou author)
10. Mitou Shoukan

13. Zashiki Warashi
14. Accel World
15. DAL
16. Heavy Object
17. Kono Subarashii
18. Ero-manga
19. Re: Zero Kara

Collab:

1. Nejimaki (Alderamin)
2. Eirun Last Code
3. Shuumatsu
4. Escape Speed
5. A Certain Pilot
6. Gamers
7. Shitayomi Danshi to Toukou Joshi (Mizuki Nomura's take on how to write a novel)
8. Tatakau Panya to Automaton Waitress

All the Kamachi series made the top 20 (Heavy Object at 16). Same goes for the Kawahara main series (not GGO or Progressive)

I find it bemusing that of the 12 KonoSugois we had, Mikoto won 6 best girl awards.

Meanwhile, the only guys to repeat their wins (and win at least 2 times) are Hachiman, Kirito, I ...and Hideyoshi (do we seriously count him as a guy?)

is progressive counted to be a separated from SAO though? i always think that novel just a fixed form from early novel of SAO which is pretty a mess, i don't know if it will take different turn now or in the future from the current popular one.

Oh, Seishun Buta Yarou is by Sakurasou's author? How is that?

And I guess the "orthodox" method pays off lol.

I consider it a better read than Sakurasou, but as usual, common sense isn't actually in play. (Bunny ears~)

Orthodox pays off. It's how Seira managed to sneak into last place for the girls even though Dress never made it in...

Well, GGO is obviously a different author, so they had a separate vote for it, and the same for Izaya (58).

To wit however, Heavy Object actually got a higher overall position at 66
