So far it looks like this cn fill the whole left by World Trigger.
Regarding the discussion who is stronger, I guess they are going for the faster vs stronger approach, but so far the mechanics of that world seem to favour strength. Neither showed anything in regards to tactic, "stomp the ground to stop getting hit and then look at the only angle from where she now can come" is not really impressive. |

poor childhood friend characters.
Looks like Rokuro is going to realize him avoiding the fight is endearing people. Its because he didn't want to participate that the kids got in that predicament. If he helped it might have never happened

Episode 3 is pretty much completely outsourced to Korea based on the credit. With the amount of stock footage that they have going for each episode and the pacing, would be pretty disappointing if it ends up being one cour. The timeslot for this hasn't had a single cour show ever. Also, echoing Kaoru's love for Ban, who was awesome as Reoko. Hopefully Sousei gives her reasons to scream some more to showcase her awesome range. |

Around 8 minutes at the high jump scene, all the girls in the distance have the green strips from the shirt extent to trousers, while the two in the foreground have completly white trousers. The things you notice when pausing at a random moment to think about something unrelated.

Hmm, few things.
I'm actually a bit disappointed with the heavy emphasis on melee fighting. I know this is supposed to be shounen and all, but when I think of onmyoujis, I think of mostly ranged spellcasters. In essence, I just enjoy stuff more like Kekkaishi and Tokyo Ravens, than stuff like Shaman King and this. Doesn't help that I'm playing Fire Emblem Fates right now, so the disconnect is real. And Benio... goddamit, couldn't you have moved to Tokyo like just a few months earlier? Like before you started middle school? Then you could technically be a childhood friend like Mayura is. Honestly though, the timing is close enough that I don't hate Benio on sight. So while she isn't a childhood friend, I'll just chalk her up to honorary osananajimi status. Mayura though is so adorable! The way she is concerned about MC, and knew exactly what would cheer him up was so cute. Just too bad she isn't an onmyouji, so I guess we won't be seeing her much being a 'normal' and all. As for the animation, I just laugh whenver they say (and even write down) the technique Benio is going execute, because it all comes down to them showing her attacking so fast that you can't see. Which means they all look practically identical lol Overall, it was entertaining. But people have been saying that this will be 50 episodes? I've been hyped out about this because of my friend's recommendation, and last I heard there isn't even 50 chapters. So will this go down to heavy filler material? Oh boy, I can't stomach another Naruto or Bleach...

That dream sequence... the engrish.
Benio continues to be awesome. That girl is dedicated as hell. Rokuro continues to be wimpy and annoying. He really should get a move on, he only puts people in danger while he hides his head in the sand. Oh here comes the load... I mean Mayura. Well, she's a bit better than in the4 manga, so maybe I'll even come to like her. Just who the hell came up with the idea of that stupid fox familiar. He adds nothing to the story and is loud obnoxious and annoying. |

Kerage are a constant danger to people and Exorcists are the only line of protection against them. Rokuro is one of the strongest exorcists around, by refusing to help he's putting both normal people and his friends in danger. He might say he's done with being an exorcists, and it's none of his problem, but he's just deluding himself. If something bad happened that he could stop by being there he wouldn't be able to just shrug it off. He's just putting his head in the sand, but that's obviously no solution.

Rokurou doesn't want be exorcist, so not doing exorcist stuff definitely is solution. Exorcists might be sole defense against Kegare, but as long as he isn't exorcist it's not his business.
As far as I know japan (even this anime one) is not dictature that would force people into job they doesn't want, even if it's useful one.

So Pierrot can make an adaptation that is superior to the source material. Then again, considering the pacing of the manga, it's not that hard to do.
Spoiler:
I'm actually impressed, though. If first three episodes are any indication of the quality of the adaptation, I will stick around for a season or two. |

Episode 4:
I think the episode was alright, first half felt a bit boring with Rokuro but I liked how he is able to come in time to save his friend. Gotta give him some credit for having guts to jump right into that fight with his life on the line. I think there's still a lot he has to prove to others but Rokuro definitely earned my respect this episode. The fight was nice, well coordinated with a fitting OST. Benio and Rokuro's relationship is still a bit strange but I think on the right track. His gratitude establishes more of a growing friendship between the two, even though they bicker like kids~

Fight was boring and lack novelty. I understand it's just the beginning. But repeating the almost same kind of fight with mooks and leading to the same outcome (Rokuro busting the big guy) for more than two times to advance the plot or develop the characters is just plain boring and stale. The rest (non-battle developments) were ok, not great but ok at this juncture of the story.

More goons to fight against is pretty meh but I guess this show was going to take its sweet sweet time since there are so many eps.
But I liked the ending. I feel like there hasn't been enough rokuro and benio banter these past two weeks and I'd like to see more of that coming up. A lot more than just fighting random things. |
