Episode 1: Terra Fail: the worst April fools joke ever!!!
What the fuck did i just see? What happened to this show? Don't get me wrong, season 1 had it's problems (mainly because of it's black circle censorship and weird direction at some times), but what happened to the heavy atmosphere, horror feel and cool art style? What happened to the battles to the death where humans and cockroaches beat the crap out of each other? The gore, dark and gloomy environment, weird looking/silly/scary alliens, serious characters and the strategic fights by using the unique insect abilities in a life or death situation were the charm of this anime and now it's completely gone. Now we got some stupid PG-13 LN harem adaptation with cheerful and colorfoul atmosphere, comedy and cheesy character dialogues... and those boring fights? WTF?? Are you fucking kidding me?? Now they can only throw punches with action scenes even worst than Dragon Ball Super with no sense of danger or tension at all. It's like i'm watching teen titans or something. They also completely changed the characters personality. They all went from "we came here to earn money for x reason, but now we are doomed to die" to "sigh, oh well, im here and shit, but that's ok. Let's have some nakama fun with ecchi moments". Michele, for example, is completely unrecognisable I never seen such 180º turn in a show before. It's like your favorite metal band started to release Britney Spears like albuns..lol. They adapted the wrong manga for sure since this episode was painful to watch. RIP Terra Formars. This made season 1 adaptation look like a fucking masterpiece when it was far from it and full of problems. I don't even... Anime what's happening to you? Not like this... not like this... |

^ Well, that's what we get when they change the team who work on it with obviously different vision. And I mostly agree with your points except for this:

That aside, if this first episode is any indication, it looks like I have to revise or re-adapt my expectation towards the show if I want to enjoy it. I should no longer expect dark and gritty style but more lighthearted tone and generic look. But damn, it's still painful to watch. I think the censors in S1 is still better compared to this drastic change in tone. I might check out the manga further after the series ended to check whether the tone whiplash also happened in the original work or not.

Yeah..episode 1 left a really sour taste...literally everything was different. It couldn't be any more different without changing genres...
I'm glad Adolph died already cause I wouldn't be able to cope lol and I'm steadily realizing I have a bias towards lightning based characters o.o |

Ok, the second episode was not as horrible as the first (Michele even got her abs back and this time it looked like the punches actually hit it's target and dealt damage..lol) but it's still bad. Unfortunelly, the debut episode was not an April's fools joke and this adaptation is indeed doomed to oblivion. People on Mars no longer see the Cockroaches as a threat, there is no tension, no danger or horror feel with the anime atmosphere still being way too colorful and relaxed. When i saw that girl joking about having made a mistake and failing to raise the shield against an army of roaches and laugh about it as nothing bad would happen, just shows how retarded this series has become.
In a season full of surprises and high quality animations we got this outlier abomination that defies the Shrodinger cat itself and the laws of probabilities by completely change it's premise in the most disgusting way, betraying it's former viewers and disgracing the original story and it's strong aspects that were the gore, heavy atmosphere and the battles to the death and it's impact on the crew. I will probably drop this or at least restrain myself from coming here and rant about it, otherwise it will become repetitive and annoying for the users that actually like the anime and want to discuss it with others |
