I read the manga... its a waste of time... I tried to read the manga before trying to wait for this but the story.... is practically... so-so. As a fan of major, baby steps and slam dunk manga... this is crap if you ask me. I won't watch the anime. I recommend this to those who watch to just watch but for those who watch and want to see an actual good soccer game. I won't recommend watching this. I don't know about the later part of the story because I dropped it at early part. Like around chapter 20 but its...bad, game standard wise. The games are always even shafted from the story so no. Its not good for me.

Pretty sure people will be watching this for MAPPA. Well if not then its just me. Im never a fan of sports anime but i do enjoy the artistic merits and appreciate the animation behind it. But who knows how faithful it will be to the manga.

Who is mappa? I was never interested in the staff. I always forgets the name of the people who made the anime but sometimes, if the anime is really great and I loved it. I ended up remembering them but who is mappa? never heard of it.

Production quality wise they made some good recent series like the currently airing Ushio to Tora. They also did Shingeki no Bahamut, Sakamichi no Apollon and Zankyu no Terror and some others I don't remember at the moment.

Here is more on them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAPPA_(studio)

Episode 1

Decent start. Tsukushi is portrayed as an underdog already and somewhat timid for a character. On the other hand, Jin is the cool type of guy.

I like the pacing so far, it introduces some of the main characters while establishing the themes and sports gimmicks. Seriously though, I hope they adapt Tsukushi's progress as a character and soccer player because so far, he's quite a klutz on the field. On the other hand, I do admire his spirit. 24 episodes, not sure how much they will adapt but this show has a ton of potential imo.

In regards with the character designs, the blushing part is somewhat distracting.
