Lol @ the lewd jokes this episode...
This is much lighthearted compared to the Future Arc. Also, I think some of the game references related to some of the childhood classics like Super Smash Bros. I'm more curious about that transfer student at the end but by the looks of it, her personality doesn't' seem very pleasant.

The post credit scene was the most interesting part. The plot should kick into high gear next week. I find it odd Natsumi is in the reserve course given that she's supposed to be the Super High School Level Little Sister (more like super bitch). Could have just been Fuyuhiko being a siscon, I guess.

Another very fun episode. Jeez Hiyoko just can't resist being mischievous eh?
It's awesome that Chiaki is bringing everyone together. Aside from Chisa she definitely feels like the other major character this arc, but I guess that's to be expected. So it seems the main course students are in fact permitted to mingle with the reserve course students during breaks, but I guess not many of them have the desire to do so. And with the arrival of Fuyuhiko's younger sister it looks like we'll indeed see the events of Twilight Syndrome Murder Case in full detail. We already know she's a bit of a bully but it seems like it goes beyond just bullying Mahiru with that attitude of hers. I wonder how she behaves toward Fuyuhiko if he's willing to murder someone as revenge for her getting killed? |

So this is despair. Seeing Chiaki raise those death flags left and right, and knowing there's (almost) no hope of a good outcome. And what's more, they are even positioning her as the moral pillar of class 77, which simply cruel. I knew this wasn't going to be a joyful watch, but it is only going to get harder if I have to sit through another round of this...
That said, this first two episodes is working as intended on me. Watching their bonding with each other, and the innocent, comedic exaggerations of their quirks, is a harsh contrast to both their representation in the DR2, and how they looked in the Future Arc. It simply wouldn't have worked as well had it not been for the established perceptions we already have. @Kanon, seeing as how Chisa brought up a transfer notice, it could be that she will eventually transfer to the main course. I can imagine all sorts of problems that would create for a lot of characters. Quote:

^I have no doubts, when they nominated her as class rep, that what you said most likely ends up being the case; That said, the theories on Gekkougahara's real identity, and that Kodaka is also willing to allow minor retcons on the Tragedy where...

Spoiler for Future Character:
Chiaki is so damn sweet, tho. I can see how Hajime feels though, If everyone mattered regardless of talent or skills, then no one would really special, and this entire series with it's SHSL Talents lends itself to the state of japanese career building pressure. I'm kind of surprised Hajime doesn't hate hopes peak since that school supports the very societal values that undermine his potential, but I guess he's more dissatisfied with himself more so than the school. But at least Hajime is special to Chiaki, and that's all anyone really needs. I really can't forgive those guys and Junko for taking advantage of his insecurities; why do people like Junko again? she's just sexy and crazy... and sexy to me. also a bitch I'm pretty sure we've all been there with Hajime being the most relatable character here. also Get gud Hajime you scrub, play more fighting games. with fighting games being a interesting genre for them to play due to it's highly competitive scene, I remember a quote from Daigo about how he doesn't consider himself a player who has achieved "good" status yet; with Hajime saying something similar. |

Actually Mahiru mentioned to Chisa she was going to have lunch with a reserve course student that was a friend of hers in middle school this episode. I'd say that it's very very likely that friend of hers is Sato, AKA the one who ends up murdering Fuyuhiko's sister and in turn gets murdered by him.

Whether or not her name is actually Sato I can't say but that's what I'll call her since that's what Danganronpa 2 decided to call her. But something to consider is that it would be kind of redundant for the Junko AI to specifically put Hiyoko, Mikan and Ibuki's actual names in Twilight Syndrome and not Sato's too when the former three weren't nearly as relevant to it's purpose as Sato was.

I wonder when Junko will enter the picture. At this rate, between the Twilight Syndrome murders and Hajime's transformation and consequent freakout, they might as well descend into despair without any outside help ...

Hajime killing Chiaki is probably the most effective way to properly induce despair in him, and by extension the rest of the class. Brutal and heartbreaking, but undoubtedly the most effective. As much as I wish it wouldn't happen, knowing Junko this will probably be what she planned.
This point is also probably where Izuru ultimately begins as an identity to split off from the original Hajime personality. I was actually under the impression that Izuru was the original personality and that Hajime the secondary subservient that came into control within the NWP. Despair Arc seems to suggest that Hajime was the original personality, and Izuru was something created in part by Hajime's despair and Junko's influence. In retrospect we actually don't know enough about Despair Arc Hajime to conclude if he was already THAT Izuru falling into despair, or if the NWP Hajime is the original Hajime. If Chiaki's hints hold true then maybe NWP Hajime is the original person. Time will tell it seems.

^It's really not as complicated as you are making it out to be. Izuru is the identity he went with after he started losing all emotions, attachment to the world, and sense of self, due to the experimentations. This is what he went by after the events of the Tragedy, during his time as an Ultimate Despair. Hajime Hinata is simply himself. Who you play as in DR2 is Hinata, pre-HPA experimentations that turned him into Izuru.
