So I read the ch14 and Makoto has memory manipulation magic?

That's a deus ex machina...

That's basically a reset button... It carries a risk of potentially ruining a story imho... what do you guys think?

Thing about memory manipulation is that, if used extensively, it becomes pretty noticeable that something is wrong.
Usefull at dealing with limited numbers of eye witnesses, but trying to conceal things after the fact becomes lot harder because if people have memories they should not, others may notice.

Though the manga versions seems more powerful because in webnovel it took repeated uses over the trip to Tsige to mess up their memories.

So far (translated chapters), nothing but fuzzying their memories on what happened to the outpost Tomoe and Mio destroyed.

No idea what was done to the girls in WN, addicted to drugs and used as test subjects, can't remember anything else, been a while since i read the early chapters.

In the WN it wasn't a nice technique like waving your hands and saying "these aren't the Droids your looking for". In the WN this scene didn't happen, instead during the chapter when they are heading to Tsique Makoto said that he used a watered down version to slowly lay suggestion upon suggestion and changed their memory over the course of two weeks. There is an actual spell to manipulate their memory but it greatly harms the one who's memory is being manipulated. The author never does something as bullshit as just snapping Makoto, Tomoe, or Shiki's finger and saying "and everything was resolved!".

In the WN they were used as Guinea pigs for experimental drugs that while not addicted greatly damaged their health until Mio cleaned them out.

In both, they were used as test subjects for a variety of things, drugs being the most common of which. They were also drugged to make them more complacent or easier to handle. When their bodies were about to, or did, give out from the experiments they were subjected to, THEN they were used as Prostitutes.

If i remember correctly they drugged so they will lost their sense so they wont resist while experimenting but about rape and prostitution it never mention in WN. Normally people will do it that's different thing but it never mention.

He might be an enemy or even fight Makoto once as a requirement to be his follower or show his capabilities. Final boss, that's unlikely. It's more likely for some big shots or the Bug goddesses allies to try to obstruct Makoto down the line in the future, theoretically speaking. It's possible as there are multiple gods in that universe.

Also chapter 148 is out! This chapter is very good as it gives insight into the thoughts of the major power's representatives and some foreshadowing. And how demihumans now have a scary backer which is Raidou and co. so they will face less discrimination at least in that academy city.
