Ikta's behaviour towards the medic this episode really was pretty gross. Seriously.

Perhaps I should really just drop this show considering how often I end up rolling my eyes or sighing with exasperation. I am not a big fan of the "stupid arrogant bully" character type and this show uses it heavily. Though at least there was a twist on it this time with the book thief. Still, it feels like a pack of bloody wolves are the smartest antagonists the show has featured so far. I'm also getting a bit tired of the show gushing about science -particularly since its definition of science is so off base. And some family gets to use a special sword style as long as none of them ever lose a duel? Seriously?
Sarihaslag was OK as a commander. He was just overshadowed because of how good Ikta was and him looking down on ikta in a MOCK battle (no involving his soldier's life) but he's a OK commander and leader. I'm seeing several peoples saying that Ikta won the mock battle because is opponent was dumb, but the fact is, with what Ikta did, I'm not sure a single person among those who said that would have done better. Pretty sure most would have taken worse decisions.
Also, rather than trying to give you bully antagonist, it's simply showing you corruption of the higher echelons in the Empire, in several ways . That's part of the theme in the show so there's nothing surprising. And bullies being here and there in the army... Don't sound really surprising either.

They use their own definition of the word "science". That's because their technology and life is different from the one in our world, due to the presence of spirits. Most of their advanced technology, as well as the way they can live properly through droughts and the like, rely on spirit. And spirits are tied to the Alderah religion. Which means that in this world, religion and new inventions/technology, as well as everyday's life is strongly tied with religion.
So the concept of trying to explain things without using religion and only logic and natural mechanism is completely new to them.
They even took the time to give you a definition of the word "science" in their world, so you can't say you haven't been had that explained.
What would you have liked? That the author invent a chuuni word just for this concept and that ikta uses it all the time? Science was the closest in concept, he took science, and I have personally no problem with it. Sounds fair enough.

To be exact, he called her his junior not little sister.

she's his "little sister" in science study. That's what matters to him. Look at what he said last episode. If you look at what is said or written in the synopsis of episode 7 too, the reason he's dancing has nothing to do with him hitting on her.

To be exact, he says "imoutobun"(妹分). Which was translated as "junior" because that's what he means approximatively, but this word's exact meaning is "someone who one considers as a younger sister". It is the same principle as "anikibun" that you often see in yakuza stuff, with peoples referring to a "older brother figure inside the organization" (who can actually be younger all the same).
So when I said that he considers her as a little sister, I'm merely following the meaning of his choice of words. There was other ways to say it, but he choose this one. Would someone with such a huge mother complex who has been going after and sleeping with mother like figures since he's 12 have any interest in someone he perceive has a "young sister"?

He said imouto-deshi/妹弟子, 弟子(deshi)=disciple/follower. In this case, he's calling Kanna his sister disciple which i translate as junior.

Thanks for the correction, I was saying it from memory, and should have checked first. It's still a choice of word specifically going with younger sister (especially since "imoutodeshi" isn't especially a word you usually use). When Ikta talk about their relation, it's that and not anything else, so still the same result.
Translating as junior is fine, but his choice of words are important.
He sounds more happy about having found someone with who he can call themselves "kyoudaideshi" than picking on a girl at all.

Spculations:

-I wonder if Yatori will warn Kanna about Ikta?

-It appears as if Yatori will have a confrontation with the female mountain leader. Will she consider the use of those two swords as a challenge to her Imperial privilege? (Those swords the mountain girl is holding look like backwards kukhris. If these people are akin to Gurkhas then the Imperial Army has its work cut out for them!)

-I'm wondering if, before the cour ends, Kanna will get killed if Ikta winds up having a relationship with her?

In any case I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming episodes.

Not Dr Movie though still outsourced episode(A.P.P.P.), but some Madhouse animator involved(like Wang Guonian), guess they're try to improve the overall quality, since from what i saw, some shots are low quality and some shots are pretty good in this episode.

A.P.P.P. eh? They're decent but expecting a little visual dip. Nice to see Wang back at madhouse

And so the Holy War begins....damn, that was one heck of a way to declare it.

Lol, I can't help but find Ikta fun to watch this week. The dance and coming in all dehydrated. I love the chemistry between him and Kanna too.
