I thought ZAFT developed the WoL technology on their own, but couldn't use it due to power requirements and the Junius Seven treaty. At least that's the story I always heard. |

...Actually, it's true that the WoL tech can't operate without nuclear-level power. That's why the official website mentioned specifically that that mobile suit is nuclear in this manga. Gilbert could have stolen the technology, but was unable to implement it due to the treaty. (The difference between "develop" and "stolen" can be quite narrow in engineering... ZAFT just needed to make a few minor changes in order to call it "their" invention. Quite illegal, but you can't prove it)

No it isn't... Delta takes place right when Junius Seven falls and PLANT is attacked with nukes... When you said "Gilbert could have stolen the technology, but was unable to implement it due to the treaty.", I was referring to the fact that the treaty was bunk when the Alliance attacked PLANT to steal the Gundams, so there should have been no stopping him from implementing the technology.

Couldn't? Or didn't?
Isn't it simply that Destiny uses the same basic physical principle of the Voiture Luminière, reverse-engineering the technology for the Destiny Gundam, rather than using the exact same device? It sounds similar to how the Soviets reverse-engineered the radar technology of the F-4 Phantom II (retrieved from shot down examples in Vietnam) for the MiG-23's Sky Lark radar, albeit with different capabilities. So, Destiny's WoL aren't the same as Delta Astray's VL. |
