The Half Elf Princess (I seriously need to look up her name in the translated novel, in MT is Griffen or such) is the girl that gets the most romance development in arc 3. Now, before people start to scream, no, she doesn't just fall madly in love with the MC after he saves her.

It is a very good romance development that takes into consideration all the past interaction between her and the MC. The translator might want to mark the chapters where the point of view is switched to the Half Elf Princess in arc 1, 2 and leading to 3 because some readers might want to reread those chapters so they can better grasp why the Half Elf Princess is thinking the way she is thinking and the way she develops her feelings for the MC.

The past chapters will be important, because you will see where some of the misunderstandings arise and why the Half Elf Princess decided to deal with some uncertainties the way she did. As of right now I am about 60% sure that she will end up in the harem.

Again, I can give you more details on this if you desire, so ask if you desire.

New possible addition to the harem

Female vampire (the badass, she has a name, will updates when I see it again in the MT). She is a type of kuudere, she doesn't speak to much most of the time and when she speaks she usually does it in a cold type fashion. The only exception to this rule is when she feeds on blood, Brendel let's her feed directly from his neck (unlike another poor soul who was banned) and as the MC says she always "fits snuggly in his embrace".

A Naga Queen. As of yet there was no direct interaction with her and the chances for her to be in the harem are the lowest among the girls. The only reason I think she might have a chance is because the MC saved her from death (in the original timeline she was suppose to die) and because she is described by the MC as being very beautiful.

Nemesis, and attended of the Half Elf Princess. Why I think the girl has a chance is because of a weird reason. In the original timeline the MC explicitly states that the girl never existed, at least as the attended of the Princess and when he meet her he says that she reminds him of a girl from his former life, a thought that is quickly cut off. And that leaves me to believe that the MC was thinking of Sophie, the girl that he took his "nickname" from. Nemesis is also chosen by 1 of the legendary 9 heroes, and after a "test battle" with the MC an "accident" happens that leaves her "exposed" (naughty Brendel did it again

).

Not much right now I am afraid.

Brendel is gearing up to unlock his element. Repairing the items that were damaged during the last fight and trying to get some consumables and maybe a few more goodies before he takes the challenge (quests or missions).

The war has died down because of the ceasefire but political back stab is going strong.

Brendel has managed to acquire a legendary blade, it is the sword of the Azure Knight (? or something like that), a legendary figure that "destroyed the heaven and brought forth the current age" (I didn't quite catch exactly what he did but think along the lines of "he made possible for the current species to live free in this world"). The Azure Sword (or the Sky Sword, or the Blue Sword, either of the names work) had a test to determine its (her? the sword is a female spirit) new owner. After a fight and a few back and fourth Brendel points out to Scarlett and the sword spirit also agrees, after her doubt is settled, to make Scarlett its/her new owner.

Scarlett feelings is also starting to get some development, but I don't know exactly right now in which direction the author want's to take this, harem or single route, because Brendel suddenly starts to try to push Scarlett to become more independent and chase her own goals. I'll have to wait and see because it's not an out right denial from him but still, Scarlett does show him a lot of attention which Brendel understands but doesn't yet act on those moments.

Brendel(the author?) did the same to Freya. I mean they have meet for some time and although I know it was a chaotic time they had no development whatsoever. O well, we will just have to wait and see.

Sorry if that question was already answered, but wil there be any future events in which the Mercenaries are involved? Right now they seem a bit two-dimensional: they have a setting (They're mercenaries from that one place) and a name, but aoart from that they are still blank pages as far as we know.

All we know is that the leader seems to be aware that they aren't "real people", and thatone of the elementalist sister has a lucky hand with loot.

Will we learn more about them, or are they "just there"?
(What was the name of his squire-wizard again? wonder f he will also ave character growth...)

i'v been reading until translated chapters and this is really interesting wn, a lot different from another isekai novel, either from chinese or japanese author. its good that there are no RNG system for acquiring summon card, like those android games, but that will make the stories more hillarious

Indeed, that is also one of the reasons that made me want to read the raws, the fact that the MC acts much more believable then the stereotypical archetype of Japanese and Chinese protagonists.

Hopefully the translator gets to translate the next arc faster because the suspense and the action sequences coupled with the plot development makes the next arc the best so far. It's even better then the first arc where they had to escape from Madara's army.

The church is corrupt, but at the same time it isn't. There are more complex issues with it and Brendel knows this. The church partially is trying to protect it's interests and influence, thus it tries to limit the amount of "bad things" the common people hear about it while at the same time different powerful cults infiltrated it's echelons and only a few very high rank people from the church of fire know this.

As such a very complex dynamic is created where powerful people from the church are trying to rectify this infiltration while at the same time still trying to maintain a positive and holy face for the church. Meanwhile there is lots of manipulation done by those cults to further their power and rank in the church, from blackmailing or corruption with the promise of more power for some individuals to just simple whispering half truths to more righteous type people that desire good but don't know the complex tug of war that is going on in the shadows.

Then, there are individuals that decided for themselves what is right or wrong for the church and thus act in accordance with their belief. And there are also the stragglers, the ones that desire to tell the truth when they find out but fight with their conscience when they are ordered by more influential individuals to keep their mouth shut or they will doom the church with their actions. In all of this mess there are also people that fight to do what is right while still trying to keep themselves honest.

O yea, there is also the issue that there is more then one type of church and they are at war with each other, and thus the church of fire also doesn't desire to appear weak, neither to the countries and empires it holds influence in or to their people or it risks to appear an easier target for the other church like organizations.

It's a conundrum of juicy, sticky and stinking ball of problems that would taint anyone that sticks their hands into it. There is more to it then this but the simple term of a "corrupt church" definitely isn't sufficient to describe the church's of fire situation.

He does take revenge but that takes a different form than you might think. He doesn't go on a rampage to slaughter all it's believers and people, he punishes the church trough political means by trying to restrain it's influence in the current country he is trying to protect while at the same time heavily penalizing it due to it's action, or more precisely, due to the actions of those cult people because their action are made under the power of the church thus the church is responsible. The MC is a shrewd negotiator in that regard, armed with more knowledge than people can even phantom he even manages to secure things that the church doesn't even know will play a big role in the future,

As for his grandfather, well for once, his affection towards him is more like respect then what a normal grandson would have to a relative, don't forget, it's Sophie in that body now. And the church just made him take an oath of silence and although it was under duress, it was still his decision to make because he had enough power to escape their clutches if he so desired. In that regard, the church has not inflicted anything else on his grandfather, they didn't seal his power they didn't force him to renounce his moral values, join them and neither did they plot to kill him (although more shady individuals from the church of fire might have preferred him dead). The ones that imposed exile on his grandfather from his kingdom and his family was the Cruz empire and that was a more political oriented struggle, it was a way to weaken the forces of the kingdom the MC is currently trying to protect by removing an individual with power from a key position.

It remained just a musing, but don't fret, Brendel's relationship with the half elf princess grows nonetheless. Their story becomes a bit more personal and is advanced by their own will and decisions and I can even say that their "love story" is, so far, the best.

Most people don't realize that the romance aspect of the novel is much more layered and well written then you would expect from a typical chines novel. Don't get me wrong, they have their strong points but multilayered characters, plot lines and intrigue isn't what the chines novels are renowned for.

(in this paragraph I will use Sophie for the soul that came into the body of our main character the one that we most love and trust and Brendel for the soul that was replaced, the one that existed before the prologue of the novel in the main character body)
Now on this subject, few people catch on to the fact that Sophie doesn't have feelings of love from the start for Romaine (the girl Brendel loved). His feelings for her at the beginning is that of obligation, he feels he has a duty to take into consideration the feelings Brendel left behind for Romaine and see them through to their fruition. And you can see him from time to time enforcing this belief on himself. Of course, as time passes he grows fond of her and naturally starts to develop deeper feelings for Romaine.

So why did I say all of this?

Because the half elf Princess was a girl that Sophie admired and loved when Sophie was still in the game, and that is how their relationship starts. And the best part about this is that you can see this foreshadowing throughout the novel and never realize what it means, and it builds up until they finally have some private time alone together and then both of them give in for a few moments into their feelings. The little girl that became enamored with the idea of her own prince charming in shiny armor swooping down to save her in her time of need and fix all her problems and the little boy that desperately once tried to fulfill his idol's dream but ultimately failed and saw one his most beloved persons die from afar. Both of them are level headed people and both of them are strong minded and cautious individuals but they still have their moments of weakness.

That is why I said in one of my other spoilers that the translator should think about marking the chapters where you can see the reaction of the half elf princess when it switches to her point of view because when they eventually share this moment of affection it will suddenly click and people will finally understand what were all those chapters about and some of them will want to reread so that they can better grasp how their feelings and understanding for each other grew from one chapter to the next. That knowledge would be crucial to better make sense off why Sophie and the half elf Princess react the way they react in that moment of weakness but still proceed with caution once they steady their feelings and become level headed again and they don't give into their ideals, hopes and dreams.

BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! Trust me, it will be, hopefully our esteemed translator, when he gets to that part will resolve himself to translate those chapters faster or in bulks so that the readers can feel the magic. Now, on MC strength, he is still peak gold without his elemental unlocked, but, in this war he displays his vast knowledge and the power of the Planeswalker class. By the end of it you'll be screaming like a girl "HELL YEA!!!" and spamming like twitch chat OP, OP. I mean damn, if I wasn't in such a hurry to read the entire novel I would read that battle again three or four times. If you desire I can give you spoilers on that battle, but you can trust me when I say that it will be worth the wait to read it. Well, there are multiple reasons behind this, the first one is because of an agreement with the "silver race" (I don't think that the "silver race" incorporates the entire plethora of different silver body races but a distinct group, the reason I am not so certain is because Brendel knows about them but he doesn't mentions specifics as to what races they incorporate, or if it's just a group of different races). The agreement was that they will first try a few times to see if someone from the kingdom (the kingdom Brendel is trying to protect) can inherit the sword (at that point in time Brendel found the sword and knew that it might have a difficult trial so he wasn't sure that he could even pass it) and if no one can, then they will hand over the sword in the custody of the "silver race coalition". In both cases, succeed or fail, custody will still be handed over to the "silver race coalition", the first one being temporary, and in exchange Brendel will be given a lot of benefits. As to why he choose to trust them, Brendel already knows them from the game and they are a very powerful group of people that mostly seek knowledge. Brendel says that if the "silver race coalition" was to act then even the entire power of the current empires + the churches would be enough to stop them. And yes, "silver race" comes from the fact that all the members of that group have a "silver body". Brendel isn't forced into this agreement, he choose to tell them he knew where the sword was and negotiated for the benefits and suggested how to handle the sword. Second, if he would ever use the sword in battle and if it was leaked to the other empires that they are in the possession of the sword then a frenzy of wars would ensue for the right to claim that artifact and no matter how good one sword is, it doesn't substitute for an army. Third, yes it is a powerful sword, and it is a legendary sword but it is nothing but a lump of metal with a very very sharp edge (think of it as a laser sword that would pass through anything). But no matter how sharp it is if you can't touch your opponent with it then it's just a lump of metal with the added benefit that you can channel mana through it to cast thunder strikes. A faster enemy would just kill you and a more powerful mage would just blast you from farther away. As you can see from the stats and skills, it doesn't have anything special besides a very sharp edge. Fourth, is because no matter how sharp a sword is, even for him it's impossible to challenge as 1v1 much more powerful people and anyone that is around his level he can easily beat because of his superior knowledge and experience from the game. The most powerful tool that he has at his disposal is the planeswalker class and cards and you will understand how powerful exactly the planeswalker class can become after you've seen the war from Act 3. If I would give you a rough comparison, not even 100 Brendels with 100 Sky Swords can beat 1 Brendel when he starts The Cycle. So in those conditions him having a better sword won't give him any benefits because he will most likely stay behind in large wars to command and use cards and when fighting 1v1 people that he can't beat won't be cause of him not having a better sword but having a better vanguard or someone to protect him while he uses the cards will give him an edge in tough battles. Fifth, and the no 1 reason he handed the sword to Scarlett, is because they wouldn't have managed to pass the trial without Scarlett, at least at their current power level. She manages to pass a barrier that Brendel thought was impassable even for silver body people so he has a hunch that it might be something more that allowed her to do what she did. So there is a mix of logical reasons and intuition that went in that decision, or it might be just because "plot". Anyway, that is what I think and know. If there is something that doesn't make sense, please point it out so I can better explain or make it more clear. Spoiler: Apparently I wasn't quite off the mark, this is the credo on which Brendel has finalized his planeswalker realm. Spoiler: Well, there will be a lot more events in which the mercenaries are involved but the most character growth will still be on the leader and the two twin sisters, the others are kinda there. They will receive a couple of power ups along the way and the last power up transformed them into "semi knights" because of the MC influence on his deck after he became a Master Planeswalker. As for Charles (his wizard sidekick squire) he gets a lot more interesting, even becoming a core individual for some of MC's plans and I think that was the intention all along because you get a bit of a foreshadowing from him before he "dies" and is sent to the graveyard. He gets resurrected at the ending of the current translation arc and his character development starts picking up around the middle of the next arc. There will be a bit more spoilers on Charles in the spoiler below. @Darkpulse22 Sorry about that bro, didn't see you post. Something new? Spoiler: Well there are a lot of small things happening all around the place and I think the current arc is the build up for the next arc in which I guess the second war with the nobles will happen and the war with Madara. There is one correction I want to make. The Azure's Sword damage is actually 112-147, I don't know why the author doesn't separate the two numbers up by a space or something but he doesn't. It became apparent when I saw another mace description with the damage of 5155 which made it clear that the actual damage is 51-55 because no random mace just happens to have so much more damage then the Earth Sword, a legendary item. Still though 112-147 is it's sealed 10% damage so the Azure Sword actual damage might look something like 1120-1470. In this arc Freya (the war goddess) gets a lot of development as a character and as a love interest followed by the silver elf princess Messere , Scarlett the red haired mercenary girl and there is a bit of love development on the side of Anoz (the loli dragon). As Anoz says "Brendel, you are a good candidate for a spare matting partner." Part of Nemesi's (the girl that looks like "the sister" from Earth that the MC had affection for) mystery is resolved during this arc. Spoiler: What was resolved as of yet is that Nemesi is actually a different person and not "the sister" but she came and become an attended and guard for the Half Elf Princess because she actually saw segments of what "the sister" was doing in the game as dreams, or that is what she claims. She is very stubborn when it comes to "the sister" and when MC asks her if she is "the sister" she says that she is not her and she doesn't want to be like her in a very stubborn fashion. The MC has a hunch that there is more to it then that but he doesn't go farther for now so that he won't upset and alienate the girl. Nemesi also has a very good magical talent, as MC says, she appears to be more talented then "the sister" and "the sister" was a shaman class in the game. Nemesi also stubbornly refuses to train in magic because of her desire to be different from "the sister" so she uses a sword. When the MC becomes a master Planeswalker he also bestowed the power of a Planeswalker to a few of card companions. So because of this Charles, Messere, The Lizard Lord, the cool vampire girl and one of the angels MC summoned first got the ability to use cards and actually became living beings again. So if they die they aren't sent to the graveyard but they actually die. Yes the bestow Planeswalker ability might seem OP (which it is) but it has it's flaws. The ones that the MC bestows with that ability do become "living" again but they don't become actual Planeswalkers with their own set of cards and elemental pools. Everyone actually gets a part of the MC's elemental pool and card set so the limitation becomes obvious. The MC needs to divide his elemental pool and the card set giving him and every other sub Planeswalker a limited elemental pool and card number that they can use and the more he divides the smaller this two become. The cards that are promoted to the sub Planeswalker status also have to be very loyal because as I said they become living again so the card restriction of being unable to defy or harm their master don't apply either and apparently the MC can't lift this status or deny them the ability to access their allocated cards and elemental pool after the transition was made. Also, the ones that become "living" again will be able to use items from the "real world". Brendel also is training the young prince right now (the younger brother of the Half Elf Princess from the country MC is trying to save) which leads to a lot of comic relief or character growth. I think the prince character is the one that grows the most during this arc. We also find out more about Charles in this arc, that he was one of the prominent figures from the Black Wizard Tower when he was still alive and the MC starts blaming him, after the MC finds out, every time someone ask Brendel "so how did you know about this?" ... "Charles knew, and he told me." Every Sub Planeswalker also become "players" with the ability to see stats and level up. It's implied that they start at level 1 (so all their previous power is sealed or lost) but the MC power levels them through some "events". Hmm, there might be more things that happened that I didn't mentioned but I said there are a lot of small things happening here and there, both political and with the characters and MC's territory so a couple of other important things that happened might have slipped my mind.

Right now they seem a bit two-dimensional: they have a setting (They're mercenaries from that one place) and a name, but aoart from that they are still blank pages as far as we know. All we know is that the leader seems to be aware that they aren't "real people", and thatone of the elementalist sister has a lucky hand with loot. Will we learn more about them, or are they "just there"? (What was the name of his squire-wizard again? wonder f he will also ave character growth...)

ungururuh Member Join Date: Sep 2015	@havensgate Indeed, that is also one of the reasons that made me want to read the raws, the fact that the MC acts much more believable then the stereotypical archetype of Japanese and Chinese protagonists. Hopefully the translator gets to translate the next arc faster because the suspense and the action sequences coupled with the plot development makes the next arc the best so far. It's even better then the first arc where they had to escape from Madara's army.

What exactly happened to him, I read that he suppose to be pretty op. How does he affect Brendels adventure? Spoiler: Brendel's grandfather unfortunately already died. When he was at his peak I venture to guess that he was a level ~65 juggernaut with his element unlocked and very proficient in sword play. He died at the hands of a lowly undead when Madara's forces invaded, and the MC feels that it was a pity that such a great man died in such a way. The reason he couldn't tell the MC anything was because the old man was forced to resign his duty as a knight and was sworn to secrecy by the fire church after the war in order to protect the country the MC is currently trying to protect. The fire church wanted to make him silent because he knew many of their dirty secrets and he was forced out of his duty to his country because the Cruz empire feared his power, the grandpa being one of the top most powerful individual from the country the MC is trying to protect. He affects the MC's adventures indirectly, when people find out of his lineage and the fact that he is the grandson of that person. In some ways he gives his backstory a more believable context to some people that knew who his grandpa was, other people give him an easier time and trust him more when they find out about his lineage while some forces, like the fire church, try to out right have him killed because of the fear that his grandpa might have told him something. Brendel's parents are still alive by the way, but the MC is afraid to go and meet them because he thinks that they will find out that he isn't the true Brendel. @Namorax Spoiler: The grandpa is indeed an unsung hero, because of the secrecy of the truce where he was forced to resign the majority of the people don't know of his bravery and accomplishments in the war and his sacrifices in order to fulfill the peace treaty's conditions. As for the other part of your supposition, he was a mentor to Brendel by teaching him how to wield a sword but besides that he didn't teach him anything else of notice because of his oath of silence which he kept to his dying breath. But Sophie already surpassed the old man ages ago in knowledge and skill, he surpassed him when he was playing the game. Spoiler: The church is corrupt, but at the same time it isn't. There are more complex issues with it and Brendel knows this. The church partially is trying to protect it's interests and influence, thus it tries to limit the amount of "bad things" the common people hear about it while at the same time different powerful cults infiltrated it's echelons and only a few very high rank people from the church of fire know this. As such a very complex dynamic is created where powerful people from the church are trying to rectify this infiltration while at the same time still trying to maintain a positive and holy face for the church. Meanwhile there is lots of manipulation done by those cults to further their power and rank in the church, from blackmailing or corruption with the promise of more power for some individuals to just simple whispering half truths to more righteous type people that desire good but don't know the complex tug of war that is going on in the shadows. Then, there are individuals that decided for themselves what is right or wrong for the church and thus act in accordance with their belief. And there are also the stragglers, the ones that desire to tell the truth when they find out but fight with their conscience when they are ordered by more influential individuals to keep their mouth shut or they will doom the church with their actions. In all of this mess there are also people that fight to do what is right while still trying to keep themselves honest. O yea, there is also the issue that there is more then one type of church and they are at war with each other, and thus the church of fire also doesn't desire to appear weak, neither to the countries and empires it holds influence in or to their people or it risks to appear an easier target for the other church like organizations. It's a conundrum of juicy, sticky and stinking ball of problems that would taint anyone that sticks their hands into it. There is more to it then this but the simple term of a "corrupt church" definitely isn't sufficient to describe the church's of fire situation. He does take revenge but that takes a different form than you might think. He doesn't go on a rampage to slaughter all it's believers and people, he punishes the church trough political means by trying to restrain it's influence in the current country he is trying to protect while at the same time heavily penalizing it due to it's action, or more precisely, due to the actions of those cult people because their action are made under the power of the church thus the church is responsible. The MC is a shrewd negotiator in that regard, armed with more knowledge than people can even phantom he even manages to secure things that the church doesn't even know will play a big role in the future, new As for his grandfather, well for once, his affection towards him is more like respect then what a normal grandson would have to a relative, don't forget, it's Sophie in that body now. And the church just made him take an oath of silence and although it was under duress, it was still his decision to make because he had enough power to escape their clutches if he so desired. In that regard, the church has not inflicted anything else on his grandfather, they didn't seal his power they didn't force him to renounce his moral values, join them and neither did they plot to kill him (although more shady individuals from the church of fire might have preferred him dead). The ones that imposed exile on his grandfather from his kingdom and his family was the Cruz empire and that was a more political oriented struggle, it was a way to weaken the forces of the kingdom the MC is currently trying to protect by removing an individual with power from a key position. Spoiler: It remained just a musing, but don't fret, Brendel's relationship with the half elf princess grows nonetheless. Their story becomes a bit more personal and is advanced by their own will and decisions and I can even say that their "love story" is, so far, the best. Most people don't realize that the romance aspect of the novel is much more layered and well written then you would expect from a typical chines novel. Don't get me wrong, they have their strong points but multilayered characters, plot lines and intrigue isn't what the chines novels are renowned for. (in this paragraph I will use Sophie for the soul that came into the body of our main character the one that we most love and trust and Brendel for the soul that was replaced, the one that existed before the prologue of the novel in the main character body) Now on this subject, few people catch on to the fact that Sophie doesn't have feelings of love from the start for Romaine (the girl Brendel loved). His feelings for her at the beginning is that of obligation, he feels he has a duty to take into consideration the feelings Brendel left behind for Romaine and see them through to their fruition. And you can see him from time to time enforcing this belief on himself. Of course, as time passes he grows fond of her and naturally starts to develop deeper feelings for Romaine. So why did I say all of this? Because the half elf Princess was a girl that Sophie admired and loved when Sophie was still in the game, and that is how their relationship starts. And the best part about this is that you can see this foreshadowing throughout the novel and never realize what it means, and it builds up until they finally have some private time alone together and then both of them give in for a few moments into their feelings. The little girl that became enamored with the idea of her own prince charming in shiny armor swooping down to save her in her time of need and fix all her problems and the little boy that desperately once tried to fulfill his idol's dream but ultimately failed and saw one his most beloved persons die from afar. Both of them are level headed people and both of them are strong minded and cautious individuals but they still have their moments of weakness. That is why I said in one of my other spoilers that the translator should think about marking the chapters where you can see the reaction of the half elf princess when it switches to her point of view because when they eventually share this moment of affection it will suddenly click and people will finally understand what were all those chapters about and some of them will want to reread so that they can better grasp how their feelings and understanding for each other grew from one chapter to the next. That knowledge would be crucial to better make sense off why Sophie and the half elf Princess react the way they react in that moment of weakness but still proceed with caution once they steady their feelings and become level headed again and they don't give into their ideals, hopes and dreams.
