Honestly it was good that Yakumo lied about how her parents died to Konatsu. The truth would have been way too hard for a little kid to take and now the lie has become the truth to Konatsu over all the years that she could hardly believe the truth if told now. Man, her parents were really f@cked up, they were their own victims for sure, but also god-damn selfish fools.
Yota-chan crying and clinging to Konatsu was sweet and adorable especially given how he cries about and for her yet she doesn't know and teases him about it and he just keeps saying "It's nothing!" under tears.

The scene in the park with the golden gingko leaves was absolutely gorgeous.
Then we get on to the old films of then Kikuhiko and the late Sukeroku's performance, and finally discover the truth of what really happened on that night years ago, rather than the version Yakumo told us in the first season. Go back and compare, they're very different. |

The truth is finally revealed. I really wish I hadn't been spoiled about it, seeing what happened would have been a greater shock than just reading about it. Yakumo did the right thing, there's no way a kid could have handled that kind of trauma. Can she now, though? She's always suspected there was something more to the incident, but there's no way she could have imagined she was the one accidentally responsible for it.
Seeing Kiku and Sukeroku's performances from season 1 was nostalgic. Yotaro commenting he had never seen his master so happy to perform rakugo really tug at the heartstrings.

Episodes 6 and 7:
Even though his master got hospitalized, the 3rd Generation Sukeroku made a stunning performance of “Inokori”! Now that's what I called entertainment! Meanwhile, looks like that collapse has made the 8th Generation Yakumo to quit his rakugo career due to poor health. Still, I don't want him to end his life in a pathetic way. Hell, I don't want rakugo to die with him just because he saw his friend getting stabbed by Miyokichi and then Konatsu pushed her mother off the balcony. Yeah, that story is way more tragic than Season 1 Episode 12! So, what's gonna be the future for Yotaro and the world of rakugo? |

Wasn't this the gang boss who wanted Yotaro to come back to the gang, but Yakumo talked him in to letting Yotaro go if he liked his rakugo, and took him to Yotaro's performance, which he liked and relinquished his hold? Pretty sure that's the connection.

Wasn't the boss liking Yakumo's rakugo the very reason why he met Konatsu in the first place and possibly fathered Shinnosuke (I still didn't understand if we were supposed to take this at face value or think it ambiguous)?

Maybe until now, some people thought Yakumo's getting over his past. Maybe that his hallucinations were just him getting into a role too much.
Well, this episode clears those doubts. Tripping like a madman, his performances have turned into occult rituals where he deliberately summons the dead to torment himself. Yeah he's pretty fucked up.

Yakumo's mental health is getting really really worrisome. This isn't the first time he thought he saw a ghost and he was always suicidal, but this episode took it to the next level. And here I thought he was getting better with his performance at the prison and the time spent with Shin.

Episodes 8 and 9:
It's sad that Yotarou's boss Isao Kido got arrested when he's looking forward for Yakumo's return. Still, he got what he wished for when the 8th Generation performed at the penitentiary. On the other hand, Yakumo just "accidentally" burned the theater while performing Shinigami. Glad that the 3rd Generation Sukeroku rescued his master, but damn Yakumo almost got burned to death. Still, I fear that his senility would make it worse for the 8th Generation rakugoka. |
