Takato goes nuts and accuses the Dissolution Club of poisoning Kougami into a zombie but when he demands they give him an antidote and tells Ayaka not to touch him, everyone now suspects Takato is also infected which he runs away. Also, Miki meets the Doctor in the sealed building.

Damn, no Kurumi...

Well, not much happened in this chapter though we find out that it seems the entire world is a zombie place now as the virus has spread across the world according to the hiding scientist. Not only that but the virus might be evolving which is why the Uni guys might have gotten sick and started to turn.
The baseball-bat guy opened the door and made noise to get the zombies swarming the university ground in his desperation to force the girls to give him their antidote.
Psycho girl activated the loudspeakers on the university ground calling in a huge horde of zombies.
And Rii-san is running around the campus looking for her teddy bear, pardon, her little girl.
Yeah, this doesn't look too good, it feels like either Rii or Kurumi might die when they have to leave the campus.....

So I guess it's pretty much confirmed that this series is set in The Walking Dead universe.

Seems 'shovel girl' is off to find her friends... and as the scanlators note atop 51 mentions on the previous chapter's words of Yuki, that 'doctor' was probably a corporate one from the company as well.... tracking, testing DNA for possible epigenetic possibilties perhaps... that scientist at the university, hiding behind in the chem bldg, seems to know all of this already and the kids are all guinea pigs/rats/test subjects... typical for govt work, though usually not on this scale of operation, hinting that something else occurred outside of their expected testing parameters.

"Pregnant' girl is just infected already as that sore attest to... I never got the 'lover' aspect from that guy, as someone else said, I thought they were family, not lovers... and a hint that Rii is losing her psychotic break like Yuki lost hers... that Negu teacher aspect could have other considerations in her mind besides delusions at this point, especially after death... ghost affect when one is too attached and can't let go... hanging around, though usually no one 'sees' them... for the most part... it's an option.

Does look like it all comes back to the corporation.. as usual in this genre of viral infection/outbreak.. which is true... like most 'false flag' ops... though this one seems to have gone global according to Chem Lab lady... and didn't that radio DJ lady say something or write something about that too? The library lady seems older, a librarian? another company insider? They seem everywhere... and none of them seem to have been prepared for this level of outbreak... again the testing went outside of parameters... as in political perhaps? Psychos shouldn't be allowed to play with WMD's in any form. A few more chapters and a second seasons should be ready for the anime, which I perfer actually, as it brings in the music, color, VA work.... interesting the changes... so far, from the first season, the dog is way over the top into idiocy, but that, like the other fan service aspects seem a problem with bringing manga to tv... seinen to shonen as someone else said... going after the larger audience and/or perhaps, as another said, exploring other options in the characters? like a potential RPG? due out for the holiday season? The home visit, though nothing happened, could still be inserted... as for the helicopter, that has already been changed at the end of the first season in the anime to some girl finding the balloon card they sent off into the air... and not a corporate worker bee.... Kei? is the implied potential... again, it seems the changes have been ok'd on purpose... dog was pointless and done much better and shorter in the manga of course.. as well as the fan service being limited to mostly cover art. Most mangakas don't seem to know how to do fan service without making it so in-your-face... it can be there naturally without such obvious head bashing... but then I didn't grow with this format of storytelling.

With both Miki and Yuuri are not well-positioned. And Yuki is better positioned but fairly useless when it comes to fighting. It seemed we need Kurumi to save the day after all.

it'd be fun if Yuki and Rii 'went off' after finding that teddy bear mistreated and their friends in danger... though I wonder why there didn't seem to be any corporate teachers/etc at the high school, seeing how the libararian, chem professor/asst seem very corporate and that agressive team at the university is participating by dumping those bodies into that pit, including their own ex membes, so the chem leader can test them, study them... makes you wonder why the high school had the same setup for the emergency.

I do like how the university students were portrayed as typical students, not knowing much about the world, the situation etc... stressed out or just pretending or hoping it will all go away like a bad dream... same as the mall girl earlier.

Yeah, it's pretty good, but it's mostly a chapter to reassemble the team, or whatever will be the new team before they exit... I suppose the next chapter should finish this reassembly.. probably with that woman in the closed off lab? then the inevitable trip to the Corp HQ? She's been pretty smart to stay out of the action so far.. not sure how long she can continue that separation or wants to once everyone leaves... isolation can be it's own dungeon, and if like that other woman the HS team found in the city, isolation might not work long with an aerial infection through the air filtration systems... ?

Takahito is dead, betrayed and killed by Ayaka who leaves the university.
And Yuri "leaves" Ru to Sino for safety.

So Rii-san never got over her trauma, well at least she leaves the "kid" where it is safe thus she should be more useful in the field. Kurumi is still hovering between zombie and human status. Yuki and Miki are somewhat stable, Yuki less so than Miki. Will be interesting to see what they gonna find in that lab.

Shino was pregnant after all. It was obvious, but it's nice to have confirmation.

Still, I hope we can move on now. The university arc wasn't so good. I like it better when they're on the road, so I hope they start their trip to Randal Corp next chapter.

ch55 ends with one of the girls outside the lab... so it seems either the group splits or we get more info on the situation from that lab before they take off... but overall, I agree the university arc wasn't that good... rather mediocre... more of the same from their high school... so only that lab is a key to the puzzle... but the same could've been said earlier when they came across that female dj in her hideout safehouse... but she caught it from the air we were led to believe, right? so same situation repeats at the college to confirm it... so only the lab is left... unless the mangaka wants to 'milk it'.

So we find out whose the scientist in the lab, Shiiko Aosoi, who agrees to leave the lab to accompany the others heading outside since they going to Randall Corp and she figures out that Kurumi is infected.
ALso, the chapter ends with a helicopter flying over an aircraft carrier whose personnel are now zombies.

Mostly an exposition chapter to setup the exit... the interesting bit was that Kurumi has been infected for quite some time, osis... and that must interest the scientist now out of her hidey hole lab... Her attitude indicates, same as that helicopter, that this germ dispersement/plague... was intentional, but they lost control of it... or, people like this Scientist weren't told the truth either... not lab rats perhaps, but left out there to become rats nevertheless... that was my impression of her attitude... pissed off about her situation, and the whole global situation it seems... major screwup... and she's been left out to dry like all the rest... only a matter of time...thus the interest in Kurumi... who hasn't succumbed to the disease yet like all the others... apparently.

ch 58 out... were the chapters always this short? not much happening, a filler ep before they get close to that corporation... and a note at the end that the manga is going on hiatus till later in the year.... too busy with other projects it seems.

So the series will be on hiatus while the authors along with other Kirara magazine authors will be providing character designs for the upcoming Kirara Fantasy Smartphone RPG.
