Best show of the season? Best show of the season. Like, holy shit, was this beautiful. Nice color pop, great character designs, great animations and directing. Silverlink really outdid themselves. Overall Perfect comfy show. I am so in. Also easily best OP of the season so far too. |

There were runes in the opening sequence, and I was trying to decipher them.
It ended being easier than I thought, because it is not just a straight Substitution Cipher; the runes themselves are actually Katakana rotated 90 degrees! So it is really just disguised Japanese. Here is the runes for Beef Stew.

oh no.. I'm so confused about the beginning
but after reading the plot from online source, I kinda get the premise so this Dragon has keeping this cafe for years since the grandpa's era.. and the restaurant is only opened for weird guest every Saturday *which made Aletta only could work for once a week* honestly, I really hope Aletta could just stay in the restaurant for every day... she is living a poor life after all.. and lonely I love the art and the restaurant owner is so manly and dandy... love it |

Aletta is being paid enough to live off her one day of work to spend the other 6 days in decent comfort. She just need to find a trustworthy home to share accommodations with. Ten silver pieces is more than enough to support her for two weeks.

There is a theory that the obsession with food was caused by ancient politics. Ancient Japan was imitating Confucianism, which had claimed that merchants are of the lowest caste for not being producers of goods. The Japanese government interprets that as banning the merchant class from owning expensive property or clothing. However, expensive food was not forbidden. Once the warring period ended, the merchant class exploded with wealth. They became the new middle class, except they had almost no where to spend their money. So they threw their wealth into eating food. And this caused a burst of culture in developing extravagant foodstuffs.

This was the show I was most looking forward to other than Kakegurui and so far it's been pretty good most respects. Might have been a little too uneventful tho whichis my only big criticism so far. Also unless it gets more inventive in that area, the story well be less about the food and more how relates to the guests and serves as of impetus for interactions otherwise kind of "eh" for me.
I think this also what is perhaps the best transition of Enami Katsumi's designs to animated medium so far out of adaptations based on his art. Anyway this a keeper for me as of now. Edit: Thinking about this, but I wonder if the chef gets any normal customers. Even if his restaurant is magicked it still exist on modern earth as far as I can tell and gold aren't gonna be paying his bills alone. |

See, easy. Honestly, I don't see how the 'why' does matter (in this or any other case). |

Man, the cook is making the business of his life with all that gold and silver if he can pay a waitress 10 silver coins for a single day of work. And he got a dragon god as patron as well. Dude is set for life with his restaurant.

That was a nice start. I am kind of curious how this whole thing got started for him. Gateways opening to various worlds and getting the ball rolling on that kind of business. Though mostly just curious if he's just a wizard or someone else started creating those doorways.
Regardless, he's got a nice thing going. Bringing in some good money, spreading the joy of good cooking to various people, and things are pretty peaceful. Aletta also went from being incredibly unfortunate to fortunate in a flash. With that much money per week she can keep herself alive and get her feet under her. Will probably still be tough to find work in that world with the discrimination against her, but she's not in a rush anymore. No longer has to worry about starving to death before she can find food and lodging. And even though she's unaware she's even got that dragon looking out for her now that she's part of that restaurant . Might not have hurt to let her stay another night just so she could start fresh in finding actual lodging in the morning, but it's just one night. With that money she should be able to get somewhere to stay even if she's overcharged due to her heritage.

Well this was fairly interesting for a fantasy show.
Pretty animation too for a show with such a simple premise. I've read the novel version for this before too and so far satisfied with this. Aletta is adorable and I like her already. Personally, I think this show has potential. They even captured my attention with the theme songs and music so far. Dark horse of the season, maybe?
