Light novel/manga 'Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e' (Welcome to the Classroom of the Know-It-Alls) is getting a TV anime adaptation.
Coming for Summer 2017.

Plot Summary/Premise:

Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. Koudo Ikusei is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favorable treatment.

The protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is a student of D-class, which is where the school dumps its "inferior" students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination, and was put in D-class. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyou Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka's situation begins to change.

Hmm ... I vaguely remember reading a few chapters of this manga (is the manga the source material or is it based on a novel?) and ... well, it was not my cup of tea.

Will probably pass on this one.

Just finished reading the 3 translated manga chapters, liked what I read, will give this a watch I guess.

So this is like Special A but reversed? [To those who don't know, Special A is about a section of seven students who are considered as geniuses in their academy.] In this case, the school is filled to the brim with geniuses and the less-smart students are shelved into its own section.

It's a good LN series. The beginning is slow so some viewers may lose interest at the beginning (even with the first 3 episode rules it may be hard to catch new viewers attention). So it needs to be 2-cour since with just 1-cour worth of content it will be hard to catch attention of new followers. Please let it be 2-cours... Though if I take a good look I can see a 'certain character' who appeared in the most recent volume so I have my hopes up.

But isn't this a 5 volumes series so far?

Yeah volume 5 is latest volume. So 1-cour ending at end of volume 2 wouldn't work since it wouldn't be as 'interesting'. It also cant end at volume 3 since it connects to volume 4. So they could squeeze 4 volumes into 1-cour but will be done quite badly if they only spend 3 episodes per volume. And again, I can see a certain character in the announcement picture who is only mentioned in volume 3 but actually appears in volume 5. So it may end at end of volume 5. But stretching 5 volumes worth of content in 12 or 13 episodes... Hence the reason I prefer 2-cour. Even if its 1-cour I hope it is done well enough to gain new readers/viewers to boost sales.

If it was animated by a studio like P.A Works, then maybe it'll be 2-cour but I can't see a strong chance of having that format if done by a small studio.

Lerche isn't a bad studio, they did some good adaptations and the only issue I can see is how good or bad is the source, remember Kuzu no Honkai.

I don't really think they will go past 12 episodes.

I was hoping Tomose will do the CD but I guess I can accept a new guy if it doesn't turn out too horrible.

serenade_beta そのおっぱいで13才 Join Date: Dec 2006	Spoiler for ep1: -That there would be a special school city just for elites -That the school does not let people out -That people who are willing to slack off and act like assholes would want to enter this school -That the actions of others would bring them down is not exactly "Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi" Aside from pretty much the entire setting and the painful-to-listen-flat-VA of the protagonist, it wasn't that bad of a watch.
