Hmm I am not sure what I can say in this section or the reason behind the post. My fiancee had a very bad accident leading her to lose the sense of speech and its definitly not funny or in any sense even close to be amusing. She is going through hell in making herself be understood, i am sure all those who are saying mute won't be able to go through even one minute of being in a condition like that if they knew they can never speak again.

Well if I had to choose (Def-Blind-Mute) I'd still have to go with mute...Man I love to talk, but I rather see ya and hear ya then not be able to talk to ya...

If I can hear somebody trying to murder me, and subsequently see their a$$, I'd use my legs to run for the lack of screaming...

I'm sorry for your fiancee's loss. I suppose this thread is to be taken with a measure of seriousness, because there are real people suffering a loss of either, or more. So sorry.

As for me, if I could choose, I would want to be mute. It will be very very hard communicating, yes, but at least I can still facilitate communication with sight and hearing.

Losing my sight would be a grievous blow, since it would basically forbid most of the funs of life. No more porn, no more 4chan, and no more inane discussions on boards like AS.

So yes; I would much rather lose my ability to speak. Wouldn't restrict me too much -or as much as the other two.

And I would rather walk over glass, by the way, since no one said that the sharp parts would be pointing up.

Alternative choice: I'd pick sense of smell. Sure, I can't appreciate fragrant things anymore and food may taste a bit bland but it's not really gonna hamper my life. Plus I could lose a few pounds. Not detecting smoke or poisonous stuff is bad, though.

But yeah, I'd rather be mute than blind or deaf. blind>deaf>>>>>mute

i would pick mute like almost everyone else

if i was deaf i dont think ill be able to talk either b/c i cant hear my voice so i would use sign language so that would be the same as losing both senses. also i wouldnt be able to listen to music and i cant live without music. i love to dance as well so that just wouldnt work without music.

if i was blind ill forever be in darkness and i personally am kinda afraid of the dark and being in it forever will freak me out and ill never be able to see my family and friends and ill have to use a cane here and there, then i cant drive, and i cant draw which i also love to do.

sooo....those are my reasons^^

But you don't have the option of becoming a super hero if you don't choose blindness. Just make sure you walk near industrial waste, often.

In that case blindenss is the way to go, imo

(and if you're a guy you don't really have to worry about getting a hot girl... she's just got to be a bit lumpy in the right places and its all good)

I'd be mute, cause although I like to sing, I watch a lot of things. And I wouldn't want to lose the 2 senses I need the most for that.

But after that, I would say deaf. Cause I would hate to never be able to see anything ever again, ya know.

If you can't hear, that sucks too, but at least you can see things.
And even though you wouldn't hear the music, you could feel the vibrations.

Mmm, that's a mistake everyone makes. Listen to blind people speaking, and they'll tell you they're sort of happy because they can communicate with real people. Deaf people are usually much more depressed and sad than everyone else. Believe me, I know about that. That's why someone like Ray Charles helped was a big donator to deaf children, not blind ones. I remember him saying, when asked " Why do you care about children who can't hear more than children who can't see?". "Because I know what being blind is. And still I'm a happy man. Deafness is the real tragedy."

So, Lady Yanami : I don't agree, vibrations are nothing, when you can't get the sound.


Yet, of course, I don't mean deaf people are all under severe depression, but...

shay : There's a book about that. An autobiography of a girl who couldn't see, nor hear, or talk. I don't remember the title. She communicated with signs in her hand. I don't ever want to know how it must be like... you just smell things, taste stuff, and feel the drafts, the heat, the cold, people touching you, etc... How horrible...
