I'm amazed Tatara and Chinatsu managed to pass will almost full checks once again given how much they seemed to suck. Chinatsu even stepped on Tatara's foot, but it looks like that went unnoticed. They were really lucky there.

It's a thing in competitive swimming but I hardly felt different when we did it. It's a sharp pain followed but a hot feeling and it feels looser but I never seen it make a difference. Honestly want potassium rich foods and drinks make a bigger difference

Now there's just one more episode left. Will Tatara and Chinatsu win? If they don't, they still have plenty of "moxie" left for future competitions. I doubt they'll break up. If anything, they're starting to become more fond of each other.

Yeah, whether they win or lose, they're definitely staying together. They've grown closer than ever during this competition, and they're even being compared to Sengoku and Chizuru.
Whoever wins, I'll be happy. Kugimiya has really grown on me since they've shown us his backstory.

This was a fantastic ending. It was fierce, colorful, and had a lot of attitude. It was also Tatara and Chinatsu's best performance imo and they pulled it off wonderfully.
Honestly, I felt like everyone was a winner at the end of the day there. Sure, there are different rankings but everyone enjoyed the very art of dancing and that's what is important. The manga is still ongoing so who knows, maybe we can get some new anime someday. Very enjoyable show overall. 8/10.

That was a great finale to a great show. I can say I loved this from start to finish. It's too bad we'll most likely never get another season.
9/10. My only complaints would be about the lack of animation for most of the dances and the competitions lasting too long for my taste. Everything else, especially the characters and their development, was fantastic.

I am totally not into dance. Hence, I doubt I had any interest in this. Until for some reason, it appeared on my youtube recommended.
From them on, I was hooked. Definitely a major surprise of this season. 8.5/10

Maybe we've been spoiled by Yuri on Ice, but despite the lack of fluid dance animations in this anime, it did a good job of balancing the cast and Tatara's development. The season finale was spectacular in its own right, and I've loved all the beginning and ending songs.
The kiss by Chinatsu caught me (and Tatara) by surprise, but it was a very authentic moment for the two of them. I think that was one of the highlights of the episode. And finally, the ending credits showed everyone in action (much like Hikaru no Go's ending), which I GREATLY appreciate. Too many anime shows just play the ending sequence to wrap up their finales which is a travesty when it comes to concluding a visual story. (I'm of the mindset that the final closing sequence should be more special and do away with the regular ending sequence) I hope we will get another season in the future! |

Liked this one.... most of the early problems were dealt with in later eps, so they didn't bother the flow anymore... such as Sengoku not really being a coach, as a competitor at international comps, he really doesn't have the time... and in later eps, he was gone... so when the push to get him over to another coach, who was already presented to us, was mentioned, it seemed natural... most of the 'problems' I had early on were dealt with... outside of anime trope issues, which really weren't bad in this one... I wonder if that's due to this being more seinen? dealing with adults mostly, even if our MC's seem older... actually our male MC seems the least mature... a 'natural' apparently, he finally found his 'thing' in life and went with it... they even showed him working P/T to pay the fees at the studio... 'running' as the 'working out' aspect.... many of the problems were dealt with, even if with just a word or line here or there... we even see the parents in this anime, which usually go absent in most...
Sick mangaka could push this into more 'American' traditions of setting up a committee for her? to oversee the project with simultaneous releases of manga/anime in future? Or just use the group dynamic to frontrun the manga enough for later cours? But this is only if its profitable enough to do so... I really liked the mention of the young girls pairing up for competitions... of course, this probably only happens in cities... how many rural areas or even small towns have any exposure to this type of dancing? This is rather realistic... not many boys in any type of dancing at younger age groups unless their parents are dancers... except hip hop styles here in the States.... and this fits our MC character as well... he's slowly coming into his own self... a combination of being forced at times and pushing himself... I thought it odd to showcase the main competition of the 'traditional' pair in the last few eps, but it was well done in presenting the as real competitions and the problems with staying with one coach for too long... a common problem in any sport, business etc. It was a great sendoff or buildup of yet another strong pair in local or regional competitions, at least until they get to nationals... which I'm guessing hasn't happened yet? Yes, like everyone's said, it would have been nice to see a bigger budget for those dance sequences, instead they focused on a way to show the dancer's mindset, blurring out the other pairs except as obstacles on the floor, mostly.... at least until their attention gets averted... implied here mostly by the guys, who's 'lead' role seems like in ballet to showcase the female and like a quarterback in American football, scope the field for open areas, oncoming pairs as obstacles etc. I didn't pick up on the gender stuff as much, perhaps because I always preferred to watch the females? ![]() I thought this was the best of the season.. wished it had a bigger budget is my only complaint. They did mention how most start off as kids, some pick up this sport later like our MC.... who seems a natural... but like any field of life, even the prodigies eventually grow up and compete with the other adults... you can really see this in some of those kids that grow up with dance parents/teachers.... early success... even on those tv talent shows... but later, the others like our MC grow up and the skill level evens out... so it becomes a matter of style... in their routine, posture, pairing, mannerisms etc.... as they are all doing pretty much the same moves... slightly different customes, mostly on the ladies... and with all that makeup, you can't tell whether they are 18 or 28... and by 40 they usually are ready to retire if they lasted that long.. especially if they are competing in both divisions, standard and Latin....which takes a toll. If this is popular enough, I'd prefer to see the anime, so if the mangaka is still ill, form a committee and work both or anime that way...just a thought... still don't understand the biz there in Japan.... some things are similar, some are quite different. |
