Not that I recall. Yamazaki was deeply injured but apparently rescued. Kondou, Okita and Hijikata are fine as seen in this chapter. Not sure where Saito is but I think I would remember if he had died.

ok chapter is out, not a bad development, two years skip but it didn't end because there's another chapter so we'll know what happend to everybody in the last one?

shinpachi looks cool, and gintoki gi looks good on him.

Please make the Last Chapter from the second Gintama movie. Even Sorachi said we might use this timeskip for the manga's finale.

For weeks now, people have been saying "the next chapter's the last" despite the lack of official source. There was even that confusing fake source after last chapter misleading us. True, the manga is ending, but unless Shueisha plans on cramming fourteen chapters into the "last" tankobon or severely thinning out the contents of the last two volumes, we should get a minimum of around five more chapters. That, and Jump always has a chapter note and/or announcement telling us when a manga is ending. I'm more interested on that side note mentioning magazine and book projects.

As for chapter 669, for a chapter that was advertised to be the climax of the arc, it felt more like an aftermath, heightened by a very lonely atmosphere. For a while, it felt like Gintoki had died, especially with Shinpachi wearing a haori in that pattern, and there was this feeling of alienation between Shinpachi (us) and the new Edo (like everything really did die in the crash). Even the story attempting to come full circle was more bittersweet than comedic. I didn't expect there to be a time skip or for the fallout to occur in a flashback (or even for the ship to really crash for that matter), but the execution was very well done. I thought I was ready for the end, but it seems the Gorilla still has a few heartstrings left to pull.

My "Wait Shinpachi is a cool character now?!" reaction didn't last very long.

I wonder if this timeskip arc will be a few chapter epilogue or a genuinely long arc.

He needs to make a joke of the ending of every shonen and have gintoki have a son or daughter, even if it's joking.

That chapter sure was one big curve ball, good to see Shinpachi and his human post time skip doing relatively well... oh who am I kidding even after saving the world the guy gets no respect whatsoever. That scene of him in the restaurant mirroring his first encounter with Gintoki sure made me feel nostalgic.

Guess we will meet other characters (Jouis, Shinsengumi, etc) post time skip to get a clue on what happened in-between the climax and the current time line, tho for the better, it means a bit more of good old Gintama for the finale

This sure is gonna be so bitterweet

After seeing Shinpachi all grown up and the similarities played through from the first chapter, I thought. this was it. The first time Shinpachi gets to be all cool and awesome. And then he got his ass kicked by the shop owner. Sigh, Shinpachi gonna stay Shinpachi even in the aftermath of the final arc. There is no helping that boy.
So Sadaharu disappeared for good and Gintoki and Kagura all left to do their own thing whereas Shinpachi stayed behind and watched Edo slowly being build up again while the Office remains a ruin. Are in for a more bitter-sad-happy-ending than just the expected happy-fun-ending?

I just hope Gintama "ends" better than Hajime no Ippo. Jesus Christ we got screwed with that ending.

I think that's what he might be doing. This chapter basically made fun of the endings that mirror the beginning of the series, but with a younger character taking the place of the MC. We'll know more about his intentions next chapter.

I don't know about children, but I'm pretty sure he'll show us some crazy pairings at least.

Still, didn't they do that time-skip parody before? Kagura hit puberty hard, Gintoku became Yamcha, Zura and Yubei changed their genders, etc.

I'm talking about an ending parody, not a time skip one. Recent shounens paired a lot of their characters up in their endings, so he might do that too, and give us some really unexpected pairings. Depends on how far he's willing to go for the sake of comedy, I guess.

Now that you mention it, a lot of shonen series ended with a timeskip. Shaman King, Kenshin, Naruto, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, xxxHolic, etc. Except Saint Seiya vanilla, Buso Renkin, Bobobobo, among others due to the series being kind of cancelled. GetBackers, Reborn! and Gantz though didn't get a timeskip Still, I doubt Gintoki will end married considering how crazy tends to be the romance here.
