Awesome remake.
Spoiler:
I guess this is what happens when you rush the elder seeing his son's body as a burger.

And the first one wasn't that rushed, 2 and 3 did where more but seems japanese wanted something bigger, like a 52 episode one that fully animated everything from manga.

People can criticize a show all they want, but money doesn't grow on trees; unless they can provide the money to make it the way they see fit, the fact of the matter is the studios and production committees will do what they deem is best for a property.

The first anime's pilot episode only focused in a single fight and Taikobo was easier to understand. In Hakyu's pilot, we get Taikobo's first fight, his attempt to fight Dakki, his postrauma after people from his clan are killed and finally his relationship with the guy with light blue hair. There were way too many expositions in Hakyu's pilot. If it weren't for the fact I knew about the series, I would have been totally confused

Wasn't this chapter supposed to be a one hour special? what happened? did was moved or the 30 minutes were recompilatory ones?

But what a chapter, we got manga characther, the Kingo Island vs Konron feels like a full fledge spaceship battle on earth and was nicely done even if a little strangely design and Yozen..that is his full power, woah.

No, the special aired on 2/23, and it was just a behind-the-scenes look at the show, with some voice actor interviews.

and the Yin princes.
First his wife, now his sons got cut, trully being Chuou is suffering.

Also I'm horribly disappointed with Chou Koumei fights getting the cut. No dumb fake ending for Housin Engi,

With Bunchu in the lead, as usual. If he was serious about protecting the empire, he
should have destroyed Dakki a long time ago. Now she has the emperor wrapped
around her little finger as she throws the empire into chaos. While Bunchu obsesses
over external threats and ignores the enemy within.

For someone who calls himself a perceptor, he's not very perceptive.

Because he thinks that he can drive her away again like how he did 60 years ago, then fix the damage that has been done.
Emperors come and go, but the Yin dynasty survives.
On the other hand, the "external threat" wants to destroy the Yin and replace it with a new dynasty, which is unacceptable to him.

BTW, he is the Preceptor, not Perceptor

If he drove her away 60 years ago, why didn't he destroy her (or at least send her running again) immediately
when she came back?

With these montain-mechas, I just found the title "Hakyu Hoshin Engi episode 8: The Last Sennin" kind of fitting

And the ramming strategy too....Damn and now we've to wait till next week to see what will happen now

So Yozen and Othenkun were each other side ward..interesting story that and how dakki played Othenkun like a fiddle

So we learned a lot now about 'Dakki', so she is a serpent or Fox(tamamo no mae original legend?) spirit posessed different woman for her plans? that was a good twist.

Dakki is a nine tailed fox youkai a.k.a Tamamo no Mae (or if you watch Ushio to Tora, Hakumen no mono ). I don't recall her ever shown in her youkai form like in the manga like this, but she's definitely referred as fox-- vixen by nearly every sennin/doushi.

Despite all the cut, Ou tenkun's past actually got some additional scenes and foreshadowing, it honestly feels even more disturbing now.
