Thank you cause I saw that she called off the engagement and I was confused as to what happened. Thanks for the update. I figured they wouldn’t break it up all the way but I wasn’t sure.

Think those are the Gearing destroyers, not the patrol cruisers. They’ve got those two central fins and no dorsal fin, and no bow WMG.

Finally someone makes some data on the Arcadia.
The artist choose 60cm main guns and a size of 326m length:

Apparently Kobayashi changed the black Andromeda to have the "valley of death" quote instead of the Cosmo Navy logo.

Needless to say I heavily disagree with this.

I like how Kobayashi had to fudge the size of the Dreadnought so it doesn't seem like a midget compared to every other ship here. The Kisaragi cargo freighter is also smaller than the 220 meter figure he gave me a while ago too, presumably so it doesn't make the Dreadnought seem even smaller.

For reference, here's the Dreadnought, Andromeda, Kongou, and Kisaragi based on their official figures.

Think so. I prefer a nice even 300 meter figure myself.

Also, I'm reading things on Twitter that's saying

There is always a first ship, or one that does something awesome. It remains famous even if there are dozens or even hundreds like it.

USS Johnston (DD-557) was one of 175 Fletcher-class destroyers, yet she is rather famous for her last stand against the main line of the Japanese navy's battleships and cruisers at the Battle of Samar.

IMO it lessens the impact when Andromeda is inevitably destroyed. In the original it signified the defeat of the EDF's finest and most advanced battleship. Here? "Oh, we lost the first one, good thing we can make 500 more!" If there were 100 Yamato-class participating in the show, sure the one we follow has the distinction of being "the best", but it still cheapens the value of the Yamato, if you understand what I mean.

In other news, I wanted to try to make some color variants of the Gatlantis ships given we've a severe lack of them (aside from Kobayashi "improvements"). I tried patterning the 2199 ships after the Gostok's scheme: dark green with white front and light green highlights on the weapons.

Andromeda's destruction, if it happens like it did in the film, would be the last ship standing against the inevitable destruction caused by the Comet Empire. Because in that version, there was nothing they could do to survive.

If it goes out more like the old TV show, than it will not only signal the loss of the Earth fleet, but also the death of a senior captain (be in Yamanami or Hijikata) leaving everything is Kodai's hands, with one ship, or a pale representation of the remains of the Earth fleet verses something that just crushed everyone else with little difficulty.

Spoiler for Ending of the Battle of Saturn:

Either the EDF Automated Fleet got blasted by the Dark Nebula Fleet in Be Forever Yamato when the Dark Nebula Forces been bent on taking over Earth while most of EDF Fleets got scattered to defend other regions. of the galaxy.

Kobayashi posted details of the Yamato-colored Andromeda.

So some details:
  • It's got "high maneuver" thruster nozzles
  • The double WMG is split like the WMG on the Dreadnought
So Kobayashi didn't bother giving it an actual name, just the "Andromeda Yamanami Special" like it's some sort of ace custom mech instead of a military warship crewed by hundreds of people. The ID is also weird, ZZZ-0001YF-2203.

I like the design overall—Andromeda looks great in Yamato colors—but once again I've niggling issues that hamper my enjoyment.

Would like to see some models of it though. The only real thing that would need to be added is the divider in the WMG, which shouldn't be too hard.

And we can now see the actual bow cannons in use both on the old ships and on the new patrol cruisers!
Though the sound of them are suspiciously similar to the build up sound of the Wave motion cannons on the other hand the beam's "speed" is rather slow for a Wave Motion Tachyon Beam!
